In today's video I'm gonna show you how easy it is to begin accepting donations using Stripe, on your WordPress website. Before we get started, there’s two things you’ll need. First you’ll need a Stripe account, which you can get one at www.stripe.com/register. It's a totally free account. Secondly, you’’ll need the Give donations plugin on your WordPress website. It’s totally free as well. You can search for it in the plugin directory and add it directly from your dashboard on the back end of your WordPress website. Once you’ve got those two things, we’re ready to get started. Once you have GiveWP installed and activated, a “Welcome Screen” comes up, welcoming you to the plugin. You can scroll to this area, here, and use the blue button to connect with Stripe. If you’ve already navigated away from this screen, that blue button shows up in multiple places on the back end of your website. Most notably, within the Give and Stripe settings so you can always find it. For now, I’ll use this one. When you click to connect to Stripe, it takes you away to your Stripe account, where you sign in and select which account you want to connect Give to. One you’re logged in, you’ll select with account you want to connect to Give, if you have multiples. Click “connect my Stripe account” and then you’re redirected back to your WordPress website, directly to the payment gateways Stripe settings, within your settings. The next step is to make sure that your website can communicate with Stripe to properly mark donations as complete. Find the webhook listed on the page just below where you connected your Stripe account. Copy that to your clipboard. Follow this link, directly to the webhooks endpoint interface in your Stripe account. From there, select “add endpoint.” Copy the entire URL from your clipboard. Click this button to receive all events and add the endpoint. In order to process test donations through your Stripe dashboard, you’ll also need to repeat that process after toggling “view test data” Now, let’s head back to your website to activate the Stripe Gateway, setup the “Statement Descriptor,” and test it out. Your “Statement Descriptor” is what shows up on your donors’ bank statements, so avoid being cute. Pick something clear to let them know exactly who charged them. If you don’t change this, it will auto-populate with your website’s title. Next, decide whether or not you want to collect billing details. Stripe doesn’t need this information, but you might. If you don’t need it, leave this box unchecked. Next, choose multi-field or single-field format for your credit card input field. I prefer the single-field because I think it looks sharper, so I’m choosing that option. Lastly, decide whether or not you want to use Stripe Checkout.
