[Music] hello i am kim and i'm a part of the dynamics 365 business central essentials team here at encore business solutions in today's video i will be reviewing how to create a sales invoice and post the invoice you can create a sales invoice to invoice a customer for goods items or directly onto a gl account when your customer has agreed to buy products items or services that you have on hand or provide you can record this with the sales invoice to build to the customer we'll navigate to sales and open up sales invoices from here you are presented with a list of all open sales invoices that have yet to be posted for today's example we'll create a new one in the general fast tab you can select show more to show all fields the asterisk indicates that we need to indicate a customer i'll select the ellipses and view the full list of customers you can select or you can search for a customer if you have many now once i select show more these fields auto populate based on the customer card scrolling below in the invoice details you can see that the payment terms code if you select it is one one month a two percent discount within eight days in the shipping and billing the default ship to is the sell to address that is on the customer card we can indicate a custom address if need be and amend it as required we'll just select default for this example on the lines fast tab you can enter the details pertaining to the sale typically you are defaulted with item there are many options gl account item resource fixed asset or charge item for today's example i'll enter an item in the item number field you can select from the full list to view all items in the system we'll search for whiteboard i'll select the item enter the quantity you can see that the totals populate with the tax as that has already been assigned alternatively you can enter a gl account i'll enter my income account and then we enter the line details and here you can see the total has adjusted before posting let's check the posting date as well as the due date the due date is a month from the posting date and they'll receive a discount if paid within 8 days under the external document number you can enter the po number you can post the order you can preview the posting to ensure that the entries are posted as we expect we can post and send the order to the client or post and create a new one we'll start with previewing the posting you can see there are 8 gl entries a few other ledger entries as well this allows us to see the effects directly on the gl account back out and we'll post this order from here we can view the posted sales invoice by navigating to posted sales invoices this is the most current one that we've posted for 1522.30 before tax we can select that line and it shows us the invoice this concludes how to enter a sales invoice in dynamics 365 business central please contact us if you have any questions thank you [Music]
