are you a plumbing business owner and struggle with writing up quotes and invoices well that's you then this video is definitely for you hey my name is Carson on this channel we strive to save you money and keep informed on all the proper Plumbing practices let's jump into this video so I'd say one of the biggest problems that we find with other plumbing business owners when we speak to them and one of the things I definitely had a problem with when I first started my business knowing how to write and structure a quote and an invoice and now that I'm you know fast forward 10 years later into running my business here I've come to realize that having as much detail as possible in your quotes and invoices is the most important thing and clients love seeing that I'm going to quickly show you how I kind of structure some of mine alright so this is just like a mock-up of one that I've done in the past this is a bigger one so this was a renovation sometimes I switch it up a bit so we have lots of different ways of doing things so this one in particular currently using joist with this we are switching over to just using QuickBooks we pay for QuickBooks we pay for Joyce we're kind of kind of just paying for two softwares which is unnecessary we're not going to get into that right now so plumbing and gas rent Innovation so in this scenario normally I wouldn't put the pricing in for each one but the client specifically asked and because it was a bigger one I was able to do it I didn't mind that much but I broke down how much each one was it doesn't hurt for also progress billing when you when you build them when you get all your water lines done you know how much to build them and then we had a research client account room work kitchen work master bathroom so what I do when I talk to a client or a builder I get them to explain we go through the job or if it's an email or whatever they're sending pictures however it works out I don't always go and look at jobs but bigger ones like this I do like to look at them if they're smaller ones I usually just ask for pictures and ask for detail of what it is that they want done I know how much and what to put into my quotes and invoices when I'm estimating a job this whole one we had a main bath this was like almost like a full gut renovation there's a ton of stuff going on this kind of information is time consuming to type out what we've done so I'll show you another one this one's actually a plumbing and gas new construction I start with my gas line I just tell them I I put down what I'm doing two furnaces hot water tanks this was a much bigger job than I'm always doing but this type of stuff we have it preset when I go into here I go to my items and if I type in plumbing new construction or are you just new construction boom it's filled out ready to go and I just add this every time I do a new construction Plumbing quote I will just adjust ingly to what it is that I'm doing within the job what we've done is we've actually taken every single one of our line items that we would use every single day we have put it into a an Excel spreadsheet there's 47 of them already ready to go pre-made for you ready to go 47 line items the beauty of this you can just import them right into QuickBooks if you don't use QuickBooks you can copy paste each one into joist or whatever whatever it is that you're using for a invoicing and quoting software if you're using QuickBooks specifically for your accounting then I highly recommend actually using it for invoicing and quoting because you can just use their app on your phone or you can do it directly through here then you're only paying for one software and the absolute beauty of everything I'm going to quickly show you this is I can import that CSV file I come in here directly import the CSV file right into here and then we just hit next here and boom it's automatically pulling everything out of that CSV file all right hit import here it will take all my line items that I've given you and it will just automatically throw it into your QuickBooks so once you've imported these right directly into your QuickBook you're instantly you have every single one of our line items so this is something that you're interested in we'll put it in the link in the description below check it out and let us know what you think thanks for watching
