foreign [Music] hello and welcome to our next module in the American Indian webinar series for the maternal Health learning and Innovation Center again my name is Dr Donald Warren and for this module we will be talking about tribal Community engagement and building Trust so what we'll discuss in this session is looking at some American Indian and Alaska native demographics we'll also go through some definitions including defining what is a tribe and what is tribal sovereignty these are important issues to keep in mind as we go through the process of engaging tribal communities we'll also describe the importance of a land acknowledgment and acknowledging where we are in physical space and acknowledging the original inhabitants of the the lands in which we work we'll also look at culture and health as it pertains to tribal Community engagement briefly some of our maternal and child health disparities to have a better understanding of why it's so important to engage our tribes effectively
