What is the legal significance of a physical signature?
The general concern around scanned PNGs, etc. is not if they are a signature -- they clearly can be -- but if a court will deem them the same as a written signature. There is a legal safe harbor, the Federal E-SIGN Act that services like www.echosign.com are built around, that deem an electronic signature under federal and state law the same as a written signature. PNGs and other systems, where both sides do not agree to an electronic signature, may not be deemed by a court to be the same as a written signature, adding ambiguity to the document and signature.

Is it true that India destroyed the F-16 by the MiG-21?
Thanks to Praveen for the A2A. This is a long answer, so I request people to bear with me.Firstly, This is quite a regularly debated topic across the two neighbors(recently). Before I answer the question, here is the context.Pakistan and India were partitioned from the same chunk of land and genetically have the same people. Except that we are separated by religionPakistan’s economy is 1/10th of the Indian economy and is growing at 2%. India’s economy is $2.5 trillion + and growing at 7–8%The only reason for Pakistan’s creation was the Islamic hatred of Hindus and in general their dismay at not being able to conquer India.Pakistanis and Muslims in general, prefer to show themselves as superior to other religions and nations. Especially India, which has been far more successful than their nationThus they feel the need to put India and Indians down in any way they canNow let us lay the background for the Pakistan and Indian armed forcesPakistan armed forces have fought India 4 times and have lost each time. Once ending in severe humiliation of the world’s largest surrender and one of the others in a loss despite superior american weaponryPakistani generals adorn themselves with medals after losing 4 wars. The Pakistan armed forces are looting the citizens, using any and every mean possible to eliminate resistance from their own people (as DGISPR himself stated a day or so back)The armed forces are so powerful that the prime minister was set up as a puppet in a fixed electionIran, Afghanistan, India, Sri Lanka are all victims of Pakistani terror that is supported by the Pakistani ArmyPakistani armed forces routinely lie about housing terror, Osama was literally found next to a military base.Meanwhile, the Indian army is one of the largest contributors to peacekeeping in the UN, Africa and Indian ocean. Now lets look at the F-16s history with PakistanPakistan was originally provided 40 F-16s to help combat Terror in Afghanistan. Since then it became the symbol of pride for the Pakistani populaceTill date Pakistan has purchased atleast 72 jets and has been given 14 as EDA (Excess defense articles) by the USPakistan Air force spokies dont reveal the real number of F-16sPakistan has previously shot down its own F-16 in 1987 in a friendly fire, perhaps the only incident of its kind.8 other Pakistani f-16 jets have been lost in accidents on runways, and in flight such as hitting wild boars, birds, etcPakistan routinely hides this information to portray PAF as extremely professionalThe public would be signNowly angered if they learnt a jet had gone downThis explains the scenario that followsPAF intrudes Indian air space with 24 jets from three different sectors. (Do remember this is an angry response to India striking terror camps in Pakistan territory)Their Intruding package had Mirages, JF-17s and F-16s and the targets were Indian miltary bases.IAF Combat air patrols - 2 Mig-21s, 4 Su-30 and 2 Mirages were the first responders to the intrusion.Fearing losses, the PAF jets retreated, Jettisoning their payloads in open fields. The PAF F-16s had the longest engagement range and launched multiple AMRAAMs to engage the IAF pursuers. These were dodged by the Sukhois. While this was going on, a Mig-21 sneaked up on the F-16s and locked up one of them. The missile hit and the F-16 went down. If you look at the missiles displayed by Pakistan you will find that the fourth one has the charge missing. This is the first Evidence of a hit.The second evidence of the hit comes from anecdotes of locals and Indian army that saw two pilots eject over the hot airspace. This is before Abhinandan went down. He was shot down by one of the other F-16sThe next evidence comes from the Indian AWACS and radar imaging, the tracks of the hit F-16 disappeared after Abhinandan’s radio message of a missile releaseThe fourth evidence is radio chatter that finds the radio signals from one of the F-16s was missing while the PAF jets retreatedThe fifth piece of evidence comes from DGISPR himself, who said two planes were downed and two pilots were in the area. Then he later also added one pilot was moved to a hospital. (There is a pakistani answer here that says he will explain about the second pilot but the answer never gets to that)The sixth piece of evidence comes from the sales records of F-16s to Pakistan. The link here counts the sales and the total losses of F-16s in the PAF. Counting F16s. From a total of 86 available jets, 9 have crashed. 77 remain. However, the Foreign policy article that says all jets are intact states 76 F-16s are in the force. Since the pentagon rejected this so called review (they said they never heard of it), it has to have originated from the ISPR. This itself is an admission that one of the jets has reduced.Since then Pakistan has been in denial, fake news such as below have been continuously streaming out of the Pakistan governmentThe truth is that Pakistanis can thump their chest day in and day out, the reality is that their country doesnt have water to drink, 35% of their economy runs on donkeys, their main export apart from donkeys is terrorism, their population grows faster than their economy, their defense budget is 1/6th of India and will continue to fall further as India keeps growing, Their technology is borrowed, their victories are fake, their petrol prices go up 10% every few months and that their hatred of India and Indians is killing them faster than they knowCleaning up evidence of a fallen F-16 can help them misguide their public, but their military planners have learnt that they can only hide behind fake bravado. Taking journalists to the strike point after 43 days can convince Saudi owned Reuters, but it cannot convince any sane individual. The fact is that Pakistan created terrorists and India struck them at home, their airforce sat defenseless and helpless watching in horror and hoping that the 12 Mirage jets were not carrying nuclear bombs. Then in their attempt to create parity with India they came with a fleet of 24 jets and ran away like cowards when they were engaged by less than a dozen IAF jets. Even so, their incompetence was so obvious when they let an outdated mig sneak up on them and take one of them down. This is a loss on all fronts for Pakistan.

What are the best electronic signature (e-signature) solutions on the market, in your opinion?
[full disclosure: I’m VP Digital Transformation at Solutions Notarius Inc., a company that supplies electronic and digital signature solutions]It completely depends on the requirements. I do not believe there is a uniquely better e-signature solution for all scenarios. For example, if the type of documents to be signed require low to medium reliability only, most modern e-signature platforms could be ok, subject to meeting legal requirements in the applicable jurisdiction, but if the document must meet stringent regulatory and statutory requirements that include high reliability of identity of signers, those platforms do not typically meet that threshold.Ideally, you would analyze, define and obtain agreement as to what constitutes the minimal acceptable legal reliability threshold you are willing to accept - or that readers of that document will accept. Next, define the technology requirements that correspond to that threshold. Finally, research e-signature options that meet these requirements and provide the best combination of price, features, scalability, etc..Finally, it should be noted that higher legal reliability e-signature platforms and solutions can always accommodate lower reliability documents while the converse is not true…

How many of you know that electronic signatures are legally binding?
I’m not a lawyer, so this isn’t legal advice, however due to diligent research I personally believe it is safe to say that yes, they are provided that the signer understand that they are signing the document and acknowledge that it is in fact them who is “signing” it. If the identity of the signer was in question, the document would need to be signNowd, which would not be able to be an electronic signature. It would be easy to assume that any electronic signature could therefore not be the person signing it. However, regular paper forms could also be signed by someone else other than the person who is supposed to be signing them, as well. It would have to be signNowd, which again, can only happen with regular paper, because the notary, when they signNow a document, they are identifying the signer as the person who is supposed to be signing it.But also, contracts do not have to be signNowd in order to be valid or enforceable, in which case, most documents signed online are practically contracts anyway. So basically, what I’m saying, is that although it seems that electronic signatures are not as legal or official, just remember that anything that can be done with a paper document can also be done with an electronic document (except be signNowd, it has to be paper, for that to happen).
