good evening everyone happy national transfer student week my name is marcie rosas and i am assistant director of transfer recruitment outreach for rutgers university new brunswick where we love our transfers if you haven't already please subscribe to the rutgers new brunswick admissions youtube channel we've already put some important um links in the chat box for you i just want to point that out the the the first one where it says connect with us that link will bring you to a forum where you can let us know that you are here we love to know who attended our transfer events and we get really excited when we see a student has attended more than one transfer event so even if you've done it before we would love for you to just um click on that link fill out a few questions for us your name your email address when you plan on transferring to rutgers um again we we definitely love that so um i'm here this evening to talk about rutgers new brunswick transfer admissions and more importantly to answer your questions so what we want you to do is uh throw your questions into the live chat box all right and i will be answering them live um i also want to point out that uh one of the links that are that's already in the chat box is for the rutgers new brunswick transfer flyer all right this flyer is a one sheeter that's um two sides and we try to squeeze all the information that's like really important about the transfer process for rutgers new brunswick on that sheet so it contains information about our transfer application due dates what you have to submit in addition to the application where you would submit it it includes all of the requirements for each of our schools at rutgers new brunswick it includes information about the transfer scholarships that we offer at rutgers new brunswick it also um just has information about all the transfer specific services and um you know things that we have in place to really help our incoming transfer students acclimate to life at rutgers so you know we have transfer mentors most of our schools offer a transfer mentorship program where you can use them as a resource these are students that are currently rucker students but transferred in not too long ago and they can kind of show you the ropes and you can go to them if you have any questions we have a living learning communities just for transfer students right now um excuse me due to coven 19 uh we didn't we don't really have any students any undergraduate students or many undergraduate students living on campus i'm probably going to have a few more in uh for spring but you know uh once everything's like full-fledged and you don't even have to live on campus to be honest to be part of the living learning communities but um you know these are great and we have a lot of other living learning communities in addition to the transfer student one the transfer one if you want to live with or or just meet other incoming transfer students it's a great way to to do that our school of arts and sciences which is our largest school and gets the lion's share of our transfer students um also has a students in transition seminar this is a mandatory one credit course for incoming transfer students that provides all of the skills necessary to be successful at rutgers also the school of arts and sciences offers a tau sigma honor society this is an a national honor society just for transfer students so you know really really great stuff that we have um in addition our our summer or i mean new student orientations whether you come in whether you're coming in in the fall or you're coming in in the spring we have new student orientation specifically for our transfer students we realize that the transfer experience is different than that of an incoming first-year student so we don't combine first-year students and and and transfer students in new student orientation this is also a great way to meet other incoming transfer students as well and um for fall 2020 and probably for spring 2021 these uh new student orientations will be um uh virtual hopefully for fall 2021 they won't be because it's usually like an on-campus day that's a whole lot of fun but i think they did a really good job of of of turning it into a virtual event and still making it so that you um can can learn how to navigate our campus learn about like all the different activities and student organizations that we have available and also meet other incoming transfer students as well as transfer students that that transferred previously that are already here at rutgers um all right i see a question here from freeba can you please explain if i am transferring from a community college can i directly start from third year so um in new jersey we have this wonderful thing called the new jersey statewide transfer agreement or the lampit law and what that states basically is that if you graduate a student graduates from a new jersey community college with an aaa associates in arts or a.s associates in science degree and they apply and are admitted to one of the participating uh four-year colleges that part is on you you have to meet the admissions requirements but if you are admitted to one of the one of the participating schools they have to give you half of the credits towards your bachelor's degree which which in new jersey is 60 credits so you're guaranteed to get 60 credits and they also will we will also waive or you will be guaranteed to have satisfied the core requirements for that school so most students will come in as a third year or as a junior but there are some exceptions okay some of some of the majors don't transfer like exactly um that's very rare or it could be that as a as at your new jersey community college you were following an english major let's say and now you want to come to rutgers and you want to do something like biology let's say um and if that's the case you haven't been following the curriculum for biology so even though you're going to get 60 credits you're going to come in with quite credit wise you're going to come in as a junior it may take you more than two years to graduate from from rutgers okay so that's basically how it works but for the most part okay if you're if you've been following the curriculum on nj njtransfer.org or if you've visited the transfer advisor at your community college and taken the courses that we recommend for the major that you want at rutgers it's typically two years at the community college in two years at rutgers um all right let's see we have can i still apply for spring great question annette so um the application due date for spring was october 1st obviously that has passed because it's october 22nd right now um however we are still accepting applications for spring so you can still apply like i said our application due dates are not deadlines they are just um they will essentially do two things for you if you apply by the application due date you'll get a guaranteed date by which you will get a decision so students that apply by october 1st for spring are guaranteed to get a decision by december 1st the other thing it's going to do is going to guarantee that you're considered for our transfer merit scholarships we have two transfer merit scholarships at rutgers new brunswick uh there's only one that's offered in the spring but had you if you applied by october 1st and you can be considered for that um but we do accept lots of applications transfer students a lot of transfer students tend to apply after those application due dates the application due date for fall 2021 is february 1st okay students that apply by february 1st are guaranteed to get a decision by april 15th um and also be considered for the um for the scholarships all right um let me see here there's a lot of questions coming in uh i applied two weeks ago both to new brunswick for electrical engineering and to newark as an undecided student so i've already been accepted for newark um all right so this is emerson um i'm not sure if i see your your complete question but i'm sure you're asking like when you're gonna hear for rutgers new brunswick so it's really not uncommon rutgers newark and rutgers camden um are a lot smaller and they have less applications so they tend to get their decisions out a lot quicker than we do um please know that we are feverishly making decisions on spring applications where you will get your decision as quickly as possible like i said you're guaranteed to get it by december 1st it doesn't mean you're going to have to wait till december 1st to get the decision you can basically get your spring 2021 decision ha if you applied by october 1st anytime between tomorrow and december 1st okay so we are making them as quickly as possible the fact that you already got your new work decision is a good sign because that means that you probably have all your documents in which is great um how do i know what credits will transfer there's a question from anthony great question so if you are currently attending a new jersey community college i mentioned before this is wonderful website called njtransfer.org and njtransfer.org has a tool that you can use that's called the transcript evaluation tool and if you go on there uh and you have a copy of your transcript from the new jersey community college you can select your new jersey community college you can select rutgers whatever school that rutgers um and you can you can select um the major that you want that you want at rutgers and if you a form opens up for you and it allows you to enter all of the information all of the course information the final grade that you got and everything and it'll and you can evaluate your courses that way so it'll give you an unofficial but uh accurate um you know transfer credit evaluation you can get that as a new jersey community college student even before you apply if you're not currently attending a new jersey community college we give the transfer credit evaluations after students have been admitted this this is the official transfer credit evaluation um you get it after you've been admitted and after you have actually accepted the offer of admission and said yes i'm going to attend rutgers um we will each individual school does their own transfer credit evaluations they're not done by the office of undergraduate admissions and you will typically um get this information on your my rutgers dashboard so when students are admitted and they decide they're going to attend rutgers there's a 150 acceptance fee and a couple of days after that the my rutgers dashboard will open up for you and um most of the colleges will put the um transfer credit evaluation on there and you'll get to see it on there and it does vary from school to school in terms of the timing of how quickly you will get it after from you know the time that you've said yes i'm i'm attending um i have a question about my transcript some of the class this is uh jaroo um i have a question about my transcript some of my classes show r which means repeat but actually i didn't retake those classes will this affect the wrecker's decision um we do if that is one of the things we look at we're you know we don't like to see students that have constantly repeated courses and repeated courses but if you if you're just talking about like one or two courses it's probably not a huge deal it it does also depend on the school that you're applying to and the courses where it appears um if if you feel that that that that's not correct i recommend that you speak to the registrar's office at your current college to see if you can get that fixed um but um you if you want to find out more specifics about that you can email us we have the ru transfer um at admissions.rutgers.edu email box and you can send us an email there and we can give you more specifics because again um some of our schools um for example the school of engineering has really specific prereqs and you have to have you know taken calc one and count two four credits each a calculus based physics class calculus i'm sorry a chemistry class and you don't really like to see like grades below um you know any grades of d or f in those courses um even if you you did kind of repeat it so so it just it really kind of depends on which school you're applying to which courses um emerson i'm still in process for new brunswick when can i accept okay so emerson like i said before so in process just means we haven't made a decision on your application so the decisions for new brunswick are made independently from decisions from newark we are two separate universities we are we're we're all rutgers university but we're two separate universities and we have uh two separate um admissions offices so the decisions are made the timing is not going to be the same in process only means that we haven't made a decision on your application yet like i said you're guaranteed to get one by december 1st but you can hear anywhere between tomorrow and december 1st so as soon as you get a decision um you'll you'll get an email and you'll be able to check your status and see what that is all right um let's see here uh okay um oh harry says yes transfers awesome okay i got accepted this is gabby i got accepted into spring 2021 school social work how when do i start enrolling and know which classes to take etc first of all gabby i want to say congratulations for your admission if you were admitted to the school of social work that means you were also admitted to the school of arts and sciences okay so um the school of arts and sciences because that the school of social work is one of our upper division schools that you can't apply to directly so you have to apply to the school of arts and sciences you're kind of actually getting your degree jointly from the school of arts and sciences in the school of social work so the school of arts and sciences will once you have decided that you're going to attend they will give you a transfer credit evaluation um they are this this semester i'm not exactly sure they're they're they they might be transitioning to putting all of their information on the my records dashboard but if not they're going to be sending an email out to you so either way you're going to hear either they're going to put it on your my records dashboard they're going to send you an email directly to you with your transfer credit evaluation typically when you get the transfer credit evaluation you'll be able to sign up for a star day the start day is the student's transfer advising and registration okay so that is a day most of our schools do group advising and registration and those days for transfer students are called star days um so typically you can choose uh from a star day they usually will begin uh depending on the school may late november they run through through um sometime in in january because classes don't start until the third week of january so uh for spring and you'll pick whichever date is the most convenient for you and that day you will be advised and you will register okay so that's basically how that happens we are going to be having also some webinars for admitted students you'll get an email about that those take place in december so that you know what like next steps are coming up and everything um all right let's see here andrew hi i just got into rutgers new brunswick congratulations andrew i was wondering how can i know which college courses will transfer into rutgers okay so i think i just kind of answered that question all right so again each the transfer credit evaluations are done by each individual school and they typically will put it on the my rutgers dashboard after you've said yes i'm going to attend rutgers so that's how you'll be able to see that if you are attending a community college then you can go on the njtransfer.org and and obtain that and you know put in your information and get that instantly is there housing for transfer students on campus i don't want to live in a dorm are there any apartments so yes we have housing for transfer students at rutgers um so at rutgers uh we're one of the largest providers of university housing in the united states typically we have over 15 000 students living on campus um this this current semester fall 2020 uh was an anomaly because due to covet 19 we um we we didn't allow the incoming students to live on campus really um and for spring i think they're going to open up like a few spots not a whole lot but hopefully i know we really remain hopeful for fall 2021 but we do have housing available for our transfer students although it's not technically guaranteed we're typically able to house all the transfer students that want to live on campus that get their their housing application in by the housing deadline and even the ones that apply after that um as well so we do have apartments we have suites we have apartments us an apartment is like a full apartment you know um it's just a like a university housing it's an apartment you know there's bedrooms there's a living room there's a kitchen there's a bathroom a suite is basically like an apartment except without the kitchen so it'll have um you know bedrooms it'll have a like a living room area and a bathroom within the suite and then we also do have like regular traditional residence halls or dorms where it's just a room for two people and the bathrooms are down the hall um we have those as well um just the other the other thing i want to say about transfer housing you are not housed with first-year students okay transfer students are housed with other incoming transfer students usually um and if not maybe like another upperclassman but you're not housed with uh with first year students that's just important to know you do have to fill out a housing application once those are available um please speak to your accommodations for students with disabilities we have all types i mean our office of disability services is huge and comprehensive so um i recommend that you go on their website they do have an intake form um and you know uh so that you can let them know what kinds of accommodations you want and there's there's all different levels you know of accommodations so um you know we have we have all types um but yeah i recommend that you go on the ods or office of disability services website and it has it has all the information on there um okay let's see what else we have um do i have to file the fafsa for financial aid if i'm starting in the spring um yes so if if you if you already did the fafsa for your previous college okay um all you need to do is uh add rutgers all right add records to your fafsa log in add records and then we'll be able to access it and put together a financial aid offer letter for you those are gonna start being sent out sometime in november okay so they're not available just yet but usually you'll get an email anybody who's been admitted will get one all right so if you've been admitted um you don't have you have it you don't have to have said yes already uh as long as you've been admitted uh you'll get an email and you'll log in with um with your ru id and some other credentials and you'll be able to see your um financial aid offer letter so um so like i said basically all you have to do is um is uh add rutgers if you haven't filed it yet then then you you can still file it okay and just make sure that you put rutgers on there so we can get your information uh all right let's see here what is the next step i should do after accepting enrollment this is ron um so ron um after you accept enrollment um the first thing that you'll be able to do usually is obtain your net id right now for students that are doing it you have there's a little bit of a of a wait time on that you'll be able to do that as early as november 3rd okay once you get your net id you'll it'll give you access to a lot of the platforms at rutgers so that you have access to um a lot of our systems and everything okay um also after you you um say yes to rutgers the my records dashboard opens up for you and then my records dashboard is sort of like your student portal this is what's going to be your student portal once like you know it is going to follow you as a student and be your student portal and it has all kinds of widgets on there as an incoming student it's going to have widgets for anything that you need to do um so one of the things you're gonna need to do is is sign up for a star day like the students uh transfer advising and registration that um you you'll sign up for so you can be advised and register separate from start a is new student orientation or nso at rutgers at a lot of colleges they combine new student orientation and the the advising and registration but at rutgers we have a lot to offer and we don't want to overwhelm you in on like one day so we kind of divide it up it's usually two separate days where you come on campus right now they're happening virtually for students for fall 2021 i'm hoping it'll be back to be in person but at this point it's going to be like virtual so um star day is like one day new student orientation they kind of broke it down to like some some um like like a a synchronous three-hour session where you get to meet other incoming transfer students as well they have some asynchronous kind of modules for you to go over on your own and then they have a lot of like social stuff like you know like a watch party or something so you get to meet other incoming students and meet other students that are already here so like i said new student orientation here at rutgers is specifically for transfers which is really really great so they really address like a lot of the transfer issues so that's going to be an important thing you need to do that's going to also be on your on your um on on your my records dashboard but also things like submitting immunization records and uh once your term bill comes out like after you register you'll you'll get a term bill um that once the term bill comes out it shows up on the my records dashboard so everything pretty much you'll you'll you'll have everything in one place so as long as you follow that my rutgers dashboard and you know check off the things um as you know um as you see them on there you'll be fine your housing application you can do it on there as well all those things all right um i've been in uh on camp i've i've never been on campus how can i visit this fall given kovid restrictions that's a great question annette so unfortunately right now we don't have in-person uh visits okay um but we are offering these really great um really really wonderful uh virtual visits it's not just like you know like an interactive map or anything like that we do have that as well uh explore records.com but we have virtual tours and um we'll put the uh the link in the chat box for the virtual tours it's basically a filmed bus tour in new brunswick we have a very unique beautiful campus that's made up of five smaller neighborhoods that are right next to each other each one has its own distinct personality environment fields one of the things that i feel makes rutgers new brunswick so unique because you get to experience different types of campuses within one one uh you know one one campus or one university which is really really great the other great thing is we have an inter-campus bus system for just for our students that you can get from campus to campus so you if you're coming from the suburbs and you've never really like navigated a public transportation system well guess what part of the rutgers experience is you're going to learn how to navigate a public transportation system in a really like non-scary way it's also a great way to meet other students so there's a lot of benefits so when you come on campus to tour campus you're actually going on a bus tour because that's how we show you all five neighborhoods you do get off the bus and get to see certain stops so we have this this filmed footage from the bus but it zooms into the buildings where we normally take you into and then what's really cool about it is there's a live narration by one of our scarlet ambassadors so one of our student tour guides is going to be um narrating it live so you get to hear you know their own like experiences in in the different spaces on campus and you get to ask some questions and everything so definitely check out our virtual campus tours i think it's like really the closest thing to actually coming on campus um harry what opportunities do i have to get involved in activities on campus oh my gosh like you name it we got it at rutgers we have over uh 700 student clubs and activities ranging from attorneys and sororities to cultural and religious clubs community service organizations there's um uh special interest stuff like paintball club there's a quidditch team if you're a harry potter fan there's um um just just a gazillion things you can get involved in on campus plus we have study abroad we have club sports we have um intramurals i mean there's so many things to get involved in at the beginning of each semester um rutgers puts on what are called involvement fairs and uh typically they close the college avenue campus and and every organization has like a table um again these things are taking place virtually right now due to covid but it's still um you know it's still an opportunity for you to find out about these clubs and and the students are really still engaged in these um in these uh organizations and everything through through covet so there's so many things that you will not get bored at rutgers you absolutely will not get bored there's like a lot of things to do and if you go on the rutgers the main rutgers website rutgers.edu and you put in the search box get involved that'll bring you to the page um where you can check out all the different clubs and activities that we have at rutgers um chris i was wondering if a lot of transfers live off campus or there's a lot to do around campus well i think i just kind of spoke to that but but i just want to mention that there's this thing called like rupa rutgers university programming association these are this is like a student um run organization where they they do all the programming for the things that take place on campus at rutgers so there's a lot of things going on all of the clubs and organizations that we have like i mentioned is over 700 um have they have events as well so and then on top of that we have division one football and in division one athletics in in general so there's like a gazillion things going on on campus all the time um i would say that there's a higher percentage of transfer students that uh commute versus like first-year students but the you know we have a very vibrant community at rutgers a lot of our students live on campus the majority of them like i said we have over 15 000 students that live in in on campus then there's also uh another percentage of students i don't really know that off top i had how many but that live off campus right around new brunswick uh there's a lot of um you know like apartments and houses that that are rented out in new brunswick in piscataway as well um so that's non-university housing that would be like you're entering into a lease with a private landlord or whatever but we have an office rutgers off-campus housing office that supports students our students who live off campus so they provide listings if you want to look for off-campus housing they provide listings on their website they will help you out with like legal advice if you're having like a misunderstanding with your landlord or whatever um they they really do a lot to engage the students that are living off campus and make sure that there's there's activities where you're meeting other students they even have like a food pantry just in case like you ran out of grocery money for the week and you're still hungry you know um they have a food pantry you can go raid and everything um so lots of really great stuff so you want to check out that um that website as well uh you can just go again on the rutgers website and put in off-campus housing and you'll find that that website um let's see what else um oh uh and that's asking can you review uh my application with an unofficial transcript so yes we can so for the purposes of making the admissions decision you can send us um you you can upload an unofficial copy of your transcript on your status screen the rutgers status screen it's at admissions.records.edu and it says your status you can log in there and uh you can upload an unofficial copy we can use that for admissions purposes however if you are admitted and you decide to attend rutgers new brunswick we are going to need an official transcript from every college that you've attended we can only do um your transfer credit evaluation if we have an official uh copy of the transcripts from your previous colleges all right but again for the purpose of admissions you can you can upload it yourself um it's it's really really easy um do i need to submit an sat or act so transfer students um typically don't have to do that all right once you've completed so the definition of a transfer student for rutgers new brunswick is a student who's completed 12 college level credits after high school graduation um so typically you don't have to send it in some cases and if you've been out of high school for more than two years you don't have to send sat or act scores even if you had like i hadn't completed the 12 college level credits yet um in some cases like for the spring there are students that are applying that they're in their first semester at another college so they just graduated in june of 2020 right they're just they started their first semester at another college uh september of 2020 and so you you're gonna have you know possibly more than 12 college-level credits at the end of this semester but you don't have those grades yet so those students typically will be sending us they we're going to need to see your final high school transcript and we'll look at your sat scores and stuff like that but those are really the only students most transfers are not going to have to send us sat or ect scores okay so that's uh now i just i i want to mention um also it looks like it looks like we've answered uh questions that are on the chat right now but i want to mention a lot of students ask me about the uh admissions requirements for the school of the rutgers business school in new brunswick all right it's one of our more competitive schools within rutgers the rutgers business school does have prerequisite courses that students need to take and i just want to mention that they require minimally a four credit pre-calculus course all right if you're coming to us with 40 or more credits we highly recommend that you have a four credit calculus course and the reason for this is that it is a prereq for a lot of our upper level courses um if you have pre-calc if you're coming to us with pre-calculus you need to have at least two of our uh business pre-business courses completed the pre-business courses are by the way you don't have to write this down because it's in that um rutgers transfer flyer pdf so if you if you take a look at that or you print that out it's all on there but i just wanted to to explain it um so the pre-business courses are intro to financial accounting computer applications for business intro to microeconomics intro to macroeconomics and introductory statistics for business so if you come to us with pre-calculus you need to have in addition to the pre-calculus course you need to have two of those prereqs um if you're coming to us with calculus and you only have to have one of the prereqs all right so um a minimum gpa of a 3.1 no d's or fs in the last 12 to 15 credits this goes for all of our schools okay and your your last completed uh term gpa or last completed semester gpa has to be a 2.6 or better the cumulative is a 3.1 but the last completed semester would need to be a 2.6 um or better um so that's that's important i also wanted to talk about the um the requirements for our school of engineering they have a lot of specific requirements as well so their uh required cumulative gpa is a 3.0 um minimum and again no ds or fs in the last 12 to 15 credits the last completed term gpa needs to be a 2.6 they have specific course requirements as well students have to have taken calc one and calc two four credits each a calculus based physics one course and a chemistry one course as well um they don't like to see any grades of d or f in those key ath and science courses either so that's important um to to know uh i want to talk about the requirements for our school of arts and sciences like like i said before that's our largest school uh they get the lion's share of our transfer students they are typically looking for a minimum uh cumulative gpa of a 2.7 2.8 right now it's a 2.7 um no d's or f's in the last 12 to 15 credits um a 2.6 minimum last term or last a semester completed gpa um and they want to know they want actually all of our schools really want you to have english comp either taken or or in progress at the time that you apply as well um also um our schools typically are looking that looking for uh that you took a college prep curriculum while you were in high school and the college prep curriculum usually uh breaks down to um math requirements algebra one geometry and algebra two if you take uh if you didn't take those courses in high school but you took college algebra or higher in college then um that'll satisfy that requirement um two years of science okay so two years of science in high school if you didn't take them in high school than two semesters of science in college and some of our schools not all of them require two years of the same foreign language so the school of arts and sciences requires it the record is business school there's a few schools that require it um and uh so so if you didn't take two years of the same foreign language in high school then you need to have two semesters of the same foreign language in college all right we have some more questions here coming up uh what gpa do you need to qualify for the ptk scholarship i hear it's competitive so the ptk scholarship that stands for phi theta kappa phi theta kappa is an honor society at new jersey or community colleges throughout the country so it doesn't have to be a new jersey community college it could be any community college throughout the country and if you're a ptk member uh you may be considered for our scholarship our scholarship is competitive so not everybody who's ptk is going to get it in fact the minimum gpa requirement for the for the ptk scholarship at rutgers new brunswick is a 3.8 however that 3.8 does not guarantee the scholarship that's only the cutoff in order to be considered for the scholarship we award 50 ptk scholarships per year so it's really competitive and we get a lot of really great students at rutgers so typically students that are actually being offered the scholarships their gpas are in the high 3.9 the last couple years i would say it's been in the 3.97 or above range so it's really really competitive um the ptk scholarship is offered in the fall and the spring you have to be graduating with your associate's degree and be a member of ptk there's no separate application for this all you have to do is apply to records as a transfer student by the application due date for whichever semester you're applying so october 1st for spring february 1st for fall um and you're automatically considered you you also have to say yes to the ptk question on the application we do ask you any student that applies as a transfer are you a member of phi theta kappa and if you say yes because that's how we can identify you um there's also uh let me talk about uh the the other merit based transfer scholarship that we offer at rutgers which is the llama do um scholarship that scholarship is an endowed scholarship it ranges from seventeen fifty to thirty five hundred dollars per year it's been awarded at the high at the high rate the thirty five hundred dollar um rate in the last few years i forgot to mention ptk is eight thousand dollars per year ptk is the biggest scholarship that we have all right so anyway llama do's uh up to 3 500 per year and this is just a handful we usually award maybe five or six per year so this scholarship typically goes to the high achieving students that were not members of ptk so typically they're all 4.0 um so you know very competitive as well same goes for pt oh pt i'm sorry llamadu is only for new jersey community college graduates so you have to be graduating with your associates from new jersey community college and that one is only offered in the fall it's not offered in the spring um i did put a link in the chat box about our scholarships and they just they just put it on here again so you can take a look at that uh there's also information on that uh transfer flyer as well so you want to take a look at that uh gurima could you highlight the eagleton institute of politics at rutgers so yeah so we have this wonderful thing uh well first of all we have an excellent political science department at rutgers um but we do have an eagleton institute it's a research center at rutgers it's on the douglas campus and they do a lot of research they do polls i mean especially around election time like right now we have a big election you'll hear um you know on on tv and in the news or you'll see eagleton institute polls um they do a lot in terms of um getting uh getting people registered to vote and all of that they also have a women in politics um a research institute within the eagleton institute which is great they bring great speakers i mean i know we had uh hillary clinton come um not too long ago and speak um so it you know it the poli the political science research is amazing they also offer um some internships at the white white house internships over the summer so um you know really really great stuff so um definitely check that out if you're a political science student we have an excellent political science program at rutgers and eagleton institute research that you can do there is is amazing i just want to take a moment and just say rutgers university in new brunswick is is known for research we are a premier research university students can do research and or get hands-on experience experiential learning in all of our majors we have over 100 majors um we have this wonderful thing called the arrestee research center was which is a research center specifically for undergrad that has nothing to do with graduate students okay so this is just for undergrads it acts as a clearinghouse for all of our undergraduate research all of our faculty does research and they all use undergraduate students so i've heard students refer to the arrestee research center as the craigslist of research because it really allows you to shop around and apply for the research positions that you're most interested in and and this this is going to become really really important when you're getting ready to take the next step from college so whatever it is that you plan on doing after you graduate from college whether you plan on seeking employment right away you're thinking about law school medical school uh any type of graduate program research is going to look really really impressive on that resume on that med school law school grad school application really give you a competitive edge over other applicants so that's the significance of research and you can do research as soon as you get to records you don't have to wait till you're a junior or senior you know depending upon when you transfer not everybody transfers as a junior um you can come in and do research as soon as you get to rucker so it's really really a great thing um andrew where can i check what classes i need to register as economics major as a transfer student again andrew that's all going to be taken care of uh on your star day all right so star day is the students in transition advising and registration you'll get the transfer credits before before that but that day you're going to be advised and registered one of the things that they do is they're going to show you how to use rutgers has a platform called the degree navigator and the degree navigator basically um keeps track of the courses that you you know that you've already satisfied for your for your degree okay and what you still need to take all right um so they're going to show you how to use that they're going to show you how to use the web registration system and that day you will register so all of that will happen on that day the star day very important day for transfer students star day all right uh that's why they call it star day i guess because it's important you wanna you know make sure that you keep that in mind um so um i wanted to also talk a little bit about nj transfer or students because i know that students that are listening may be at all different kinds of stages in the transfer process you may not be ready to apply for spring 2021 or fall 2021 maybe you're thinking that you're going to apply to rutgers in a year or two years um so one of the other important tools that nj transfer has is called the transfer programs tool and with the transfer programs tool allows you to do this is for students again that are attending a new jersey community college it allows you to choose the courses that you're taking at the community college so that you're in line with um the major that you want to take for your bachelor's degree at any of the four-year institutions participating four-year institutions in new jersey and right now um all of the new jersey four-year institutions participate in nj transfer with the exception of three uh princeton university stevens institute of technology and pillar college all the other four years institutions do participate so when you go on nj transfer on the transfer programs tool you're going to see two drop down menus and in the first one you're going to select your new jersey community college on the second one you're going to select the four-year institution that you're interested in transferring to you're going to hit submit and then all of the majors at that particular school uh the four-year institution are going to pop up you're going to select the major that you want to pursue and when you hit submit on that you will get to see all the courses that are recommended for you to take at your community colleges so they're going to be the course numbers and the course titles at your community college that you should be taking to properly align with the major at the um the four-year institution because like i said before you're gonna get if you graduate with an aaa or an as and you're admitted um into one of the participating uh one of the participating uh schools with a participating major and all that you're gonna get 60 credits uh but um if you uh didn't take courses if you were um you know again uh kind of following like a like a general let's say liberal arts degree and you know you want to do chemistry and you haven't taken any any chemistry courses yeah you're going to come in with 60 credits but most likely it might take you a little longer than two years to graduate because you haven't taken any of those foundational chemistry credits that you that you should have taken so really you should be following the curriculum that's on njtransfer.org um you know for for the majors at the school of arts and sciences there aren't any like specific prereq courses to get in you know uh you know like we just talked about the school of engineering the rutgers business school have specific prereqs um but it still will align you you know with with that particular major so that's important to know um do students find out about how do students find out about internship opportunities that's a great question so our career exploration and success office is uh sort of the clearinghouse for internships they host um mega job fairs every every year included within those job fairs are internship fairs for our um usually it's for our sophomores and juniors okay because um you usually can't you can't apply for internships until like this like just the earliest you could do an internship is the summer after your freshman year um in college and then students are typically doing them internships then you can do that in the summer you can do it during the academic year as well in your sophomore year in your junior year um you know uh also in your senior year but you usually are applying for internship that you're doing in your senior year you're usually doing the application in your junior year right so um so they do have those those internship opportunities uh they have those fares but they also have uh at any time let's say you miss the fair for some reason at any time you can go on the the career exploration and success website and they do have like huge database on um uh rutgers handshake includes a lot of information on potential employers and potential like internships as well so you can always go on their website and check that out as well um is rutgers uh new brunswick class is going to be online for second semester for spring 2021. so so that decision hasn't been completely made yet the only thing that's come out at this point was our chancellor a few weeks ago made an announcement saying that they're planning to have more in-person course offerings for spring 2021 however that's that's the plan that's what they're planning for however 19 and what's happening is going to dictate that the schedule uh for spring 2021 is going to be released on november 9th that's what we're that's what we've been told that's what we know at this point so we don't know how many more at this point they're planning there's going to be more in person than we had in uh for fall 2020 which was really very minimal but we don't really know what that's going to look like yet so it's it's sort of like not set in stone yet that's all that's all we know you can see that um on on the rutgers website under campus status you can see uh the message from our chancellor malloy um and if you want to read it for yourself but it's it's sort of a little vague at this point all right great question though um so um at this point it looks like we've answered most of the questions that are on here i'm trying to think if there's anything else that we could tell you uh you know before we before we close out um um oh i did want to mention a couple things about the application i think i mentioned there's a 70 application fee if you're a veteran we automatically waive that application fee um and if you're a transfer student that's currently attending another college you and you and you uh need to have the application fee waived you should obtain a fee waiver from your previous institution all right if you're a community college student usually you would get those uh the the fee waiver it's usually on the letterhead it's and and you it could be emailed to us all right um from your transfer services office or from the financial aid office it varies a little bit from community college to community college and again any institution could be a four-year institution it could be an institution outside of new jersey um usually uh if you're going to a four-year institution a lot of times it'll be like the financial aid office that will that will give you a uh a fee waiver request to submit to us if you're not currently attending a um another institution you can go to a social service agency and get a um a transfer excuse me a application fee waiver um nakak also has it that's n-a-c-a-c you can usually get a fee waiver from them but if you can't get it from any of those sources uh email us at um ru transfer at admissions.records.edu or questions at admissions.records.edu either one of those email addresses then we can um we can uh review it and see if we're able to to give you a fee waiver okay um but that's basically how that is done uh i have a question from anashi i applied to the school of arts and sciences can i still apply to the school of business so for this i if you apply so well let me just say this the rutgers business school does at new brunswick does not take spring 2020 applications or doesn't it doesn't take applications for spring 2020. so if you applied for spring that's why you didn't see it on the application they only accept applications in fall all right so um if you applied for fall yes you can still apply to the business school if you applied for spring unfortunately the rutgers business school new brunswick does not offer spring admission okay um all right guys i think that um if there's any any other questions i'm happy to answer them before we close out um i i see that um we ave our ru transfer admissions.record.edu um email address that we've just posted again if there's any questions that you didn't get to ask tonight or maybe you were too shy to ask please send them to are you transferring admissions that represented to you my um my colleague annette medeiros and i are very happy to answer any of those questions for you um and uh you know again anything that you might that you may want to know um all right well thank you so much again i want to wish everyone a happy national transfer student week out there um we do have i just oh let me let me say this before i leave we still have um things going on for nationals transfer student week tomorrow we have zoom hours so if you didn't get to ask a question tonight and you you're you're more of a like like a more of a one-on-one kind of person we have zoom hours tomorrow from 9 a.m to 12 p.m and then from 1 30 p.m to 4 30 p.m they're not usually like they're not private appointments so you can drop in at any time during those three hour blocks and ask your question and then leave some students came in asked a question left some of them hung out and like listened asked their question but then listened to what other students were asking and hung around and then had other questions that they thought of you're welcome to hang out as long as you want or you're or you just can drop in ask your question and leave uh but you know we'll be available tomorrow from 9 00 a.m to 12 p.m and then 1 30 p.m to 4 30 p.m to answer your questions all again thank you so much for joining us tonight have a great night bye

Frequently asked questions

Learn everything you need to know to use airSlate SignNow eSignatures like a pro.

How do you make a document that has an electronic signature?

How do you make this information that was not in a digital format a computer-readable document for the user? " "So the question is not only how can you get to an individual from an individual, but how can you get to an individual with a group of individuals. How do you get from one location and say let's go to this location and say let's go to that location. How do you get from, you know, some of the more traditional forms of information that you are used to seeing in a document or other forms. The ability to do that in a digital medium has been a huge challenge. I think we've done it, but there's some work that we have to do on the security side of that. And of course, there's the question of how do you protect it from being read by people that you're not intending to be able to actually read it? " When asked to describe what he means by a "user-centric" approach to security, Bensley responds that "you're still in a situation where you are still talking about a lot of the security that is done by individuals, but we've done a very good job of making it a user-centric process. You're not going to be able to create a document or something on your own that you can give to an individual. You can't just open and copy over and then give it to somebody else. You still have to do the work of the document being created in the first place and the work of the document being delivered in a secure manner."

How to eSign in msword?

In msword there are a few things that have to go: You need "signatures" ( eSignatures) in order to have your eSignature. These can be created by eSign, but they can also be created by a third-party (the client). The client should be eSigning in order to send this third-party the signing keys in order to produce eSignature. To see the list of eSignature types and how to use them, check the eSignature guide. To know if you have the right software, check if you can create your own signature for your eSignature (eSignature Types, eSignature Types in msword) In order to sign with any of these eSignature types in msword you have to have a "signing-key". This is a single-use code that can be used by the client and by the server. The client generates such a signing-key and can use it to sign in msword. This signing-key can be generated in any of the following ways: Using "signature-generate". This command is available only on Windows. Enter the code generated on the right and the server will sign it for you. On your Mac or Linux system, you can use a graphical client to generate a signing key. The GUI software can be downloaded from the msword-signing-key page. Using "signature-key-get". If you want to create your own signing-key by using a single-word name, you can use this command and leave the rest of the arguments blank. It will generate a random eSignature signing key from this name and the given values. In order to generate the signing key, you have to have "signature-g...

How to put an electronic signature on a text box?

If not, then how to do it? I have been researching it and have not been able to find the answers, and am wondering what others have to say about this subject. Thank you. There are no easy or obvious answers. However, if you do not have a good relationship with your computer (computer illiteracy is no excuse), do not go to that text box. You have just wasted time and energy by doing that. I also suggest not signing your computer, because then the machine is "hanging on the line". If there is a typo, then the typo is in the machine. So, if you see the "signing" box, you are not likely to see anything. And of course if you were to sign, you could be caught red handed. A sign is only as good as the truth. Hi, I'm a high school student who's studying for my GED (general educational development). I recently received a question regarding how to make a signature, as there has been a lot of interest in making a fake signature that is actually real. My question is, do you know of any methods for making a fake signature with only two lines of code, such as, I use, C#, which I am learning right now? Thanks! Yes, you can make a fake signature, and I don't have an easy method for it. I did use the name "Joey" for my real signature a while back. If you know of a way to make something look real, please leave a comment. I have a question for you: How do I make a fake signature that is not a computer program? It does not look like a real signature to me. I've been trying to make a compute...
