Why is the Indian government's employee PF website down, or is there a new portal / link?
Hello There, The old portal for checking PF balance is down because a new portal has been introduced by the government. The New Portal (EPFO [ http://unifiedportal.epfindia.gov.in ]) is a revamped version of the old one but does not come with extra options/facility as compared to old one. But, still it is more user friendly and have a fresh UI. P.S.: I am trying to log in to new interface from past 4–5 days but was unable to do so, i also wrote several mails to them but still did not get any solution. How do we check PF (Provident Funding) amount in our account?
To know amount in PF Account. You should know your UAN Number and should also register with your mobile number on the EPFO website. You have to activate you account with an OTP which will be sent to your registered mobile number.As soon as you create and activate your account, you can click on member passbook which will ask your 12 digit UAN number and you password.Generally the EPFO website shows the balance after one day of your login. Previously it used to show the balance 3 days after login.

You cannot download but make an application for E-Pan card which will be sent to you by mail.Initially only fresh applicant could avail the E PAN facility (from the Income tax website) but now the same has been extended to all the existing PAN card holders.The applicant is only required to fill and submit the online application form along with online payment of the respective processing fee and after the successful processing of the application the E-PAN card will be sent to the PAN applicant at the email id.Steps to apply for E-PAN cardVisit the NSDL websiteSelect "Request for New PAN Card or/and Changes or Correction in PAN data" as Application type ( if PAN number has already been issued to you and want a fresh Pan/E-pan or want to make correction) and fill your status.Fill in rest of the information asked such as name, and date of birth. Information marked with an asterisk sign has to be filled in mandatorily. It is mandatory to mention the email id in case of application for an E-PAN card.A token number will be generated and same will be sent to your email id (But the same must be noted ). Click on continue with your Application.A new page will appear on your screen. There will be three options asking you how you want to proceed with your application. To apply for E-PAN you must select No to the question “Whether Physical Pan is required?”. ( as shown in the image) ( Please check Note)Enter your details such as Aadhaar number, parents name, etc. Aadhaar number is mandatory if you have choosed e sign and e KYC as an option.Once you have filled all the relevant data, click on 'Next'. Have been trying for the past two weeks. not working; not sure when it will start working. It is frustrating as no news of the downtime has been circulated ; guess we need to tweet the issue to someone from the home ministry.

Taxes in India: Can I download a soft copy of my PAN card?
Officially, no. You can apply for a reprint of your existing PAN card and choose e-PAN mode of delivery, in which case you would get a PDF version of your PAN card delivered to your email. I will detail out the steps on how to apply for a PAN reprint in this answer. You can also opt to go for the easier, very obvious way to get a soft copy of your PAN by simply taking a good quality picture of your Physical pan card and use it for verification purposes. Go to TIN-NSDL New PAN application page [ https://www.onlineservices.nsdl.com/paam/endUserRegisterContact.html ] to get started with the application process. * Select Changes or correction in existing PAN Data/Reprint of PAN card and Individual in category. * Click submit and proceed after adding personal details as asked. Note down the temporary token number generated on the next page. * Next - there are 3 options to submit proofs for Identity, Address and Birth verification - * * Digitally through e-KYC & e-Sign * Upload scanned Images through-Sign * Forward documents Physically You could simply do e-KYC using your Aadhaar and doing so wouldn’t require to submit other documents for proof purpose, all you need is to verify your Aadhaar with registered mobile number and verify it using OTP. * Next you’l asked to choose if you need Physical PAN or digital(e-PAN). Select e-PAN using which you’ll receive a PDF version of your PAN card in your email. * Add only your mobile number next and don’t add address as it’s only meant to be filled in case you need a change. * There will be a declaration on the next page - once you complete it you’ll require to complete the document verification part. If you selected e-KYC, Aadhaar will be selected by default and will be completed after the payment. * Once you’ve reviewed the application, you’ll be asked to select a payment method. Once you’ve selected a payment method and completed it(in case of online payment) you’ll be prompted to enter the OTP received on your Aadhaar registered mobile number. Once your OTP is confirmed, your PAN application is successfully submitted. Do note that at times, you might not see acknowledgement screen after confirming the OTP for technical reasons, there is no need to worry as your application is still is submitted and you would receive acknowledgement number on your mobile/email which you could use to track your application. Will Digital India be successful?
Pardon me for my poor English!Saturday (01.12.2018) I was travelling by train from Yeshwantpur to Shivamogga (Morning 9 AM train). I had booked my seat a week before through IRCTC website and got the seat confirmation (AC chair car). I was sitting in window seat and beside me was one young girl (guess college going) with her mother. At around 10:45 AM, TT came in for ticket checks and I gave my ID (PAN CARD) for verification. After me it was turn of young girl who was with her mother. The girl showed PAN CARD in her mobile phone (screenshot of PAN CARD) which the TT straight away rejected stating that “original ID is required” (PAN or any other approved ID’s). But young girl argued with TT in vain. Meanwhile TT showed the list of valid documents (ID’s) written in her ticket and moved to next coach. I was just observing all these conversations while I was drowsing.After around 30 minutes TT came and demanded a of fine Rs. 1120 or 1319 (I am unable to recall exact amount). I was awakened by then and immediately searched in the google for “whether E-Aadhaar or downloaded Aadhaar is valid or not” and found that it is valid. Then conversation went like this,Me to TT: Sir, they can show E-Aadhaar right?TT: (I don’t know whether he got confused or not aware) No.Me: Sir, it is valid, and you may check Indian railways circular.TT: I don’t know! but you can show me the Aadhaar copy in DigiLocker!Me: Ok fine. Just give us 15 minutes.TT: Ok.Then immediately I suggested the young girl to install the DigiLocker app from play store. (Glad, she was using smartphone) :)Source: GoogleApp was downloaded. Meanwhile I also downloading the app to check how much time it will take to install, signup, login, retrieving the documents etc. It took maximum 10 minutes for me to get the documents in DigiLocker. Now the app was installed in her smartphone and I helped her to sign up using her mobile number.(Surprisingly we have not faced any issues with mobile networks)So, finally entered the Aadhaar number and retrieved the documents. :)TT came again after approx. 1 hour and she was able to show the Aadhaar in her DigiLocker and he said fine. :)First time I was very much satisfied that I helped someone by saving their hard-earned money.
