[Music] foreign welcome to the 2020 bia hawaii installation ceremony i'm jess leorna bia ceo and i'm delighted to virtually open this year's festivities as our new leadership is installed i'd like to reflect on 2020 our accomplishments some obstacles and the exciting plans we have for 2021. first we are so thankful the construction industry has been deemed essential allowing our member businesses to thrive this designation was achieved by nahb's advocacy work at the national level and bias rapid actions to grasp the bull by the horns work with industry partners to develop a job site safety plan and a promise to uphold this industry-wide through our industry commitment pledge collective activities showed our strength in numbers and produced vast benefits both for our members and industry professionals everywhere and for our local economy the construction industry truly has kept hawaii's economy plugging along in spite of the enormous hits to tourism and hospitality in even more recent events nhb has experienced success in lobbying the u.s commerce department to reduce duties on shipments of canadian lumber into the u.s by more than half from 20 to 9 this is great news for american home builders and home buyers and for suppliers nationwide and comes at a time when lumber rates were soaring to new heights the rates were dropping they were 950 per thousand board feet in september and now are 560 per thousand square feet this is a welcome reprieve from the heightened cost to build during the panda nahb also reports that total private residential construction spending is 14.5 higher than a year ago this gain is largely attributed to the steady growth of spending on single-family and multi-family construction and is consistent with surging builder confidence that we've seen throughout the pandemic nationally and locally we also saw a surge in the pace of new home sales in july and august while the level of sales remains elevated and at post great recession highs sales have exceeded construction starts by a historic margin at the end of the summer locally we can attribute a large part of the slowing number of construction starts to the delays in the permitting process this is an issue that bia takes very seriously and will continue to address in our legislative discussions and through collaborative activities with our affiliates and industry stakeholders additionally our government affairs team is ramping up in our efforts to weigh more amicable bill 65 and we're getting ready for legislative session 2021 we can see there are some extremely positive developments and as an industry we have even more to look forward to next year everyone associated with nahb and bia is inspiring creative and intelligent and i'm constantly amazed by the level of dedication to the work you all do this past year for example together we have accomplished transition to virtual education and many programs such as our virtual building industry design and construction awards are extremely successful in empowering virtual general membership meetings launch of a new nihb designation offering here locally a weekly coveted newsletter with pertinent and timely information for our members and our team is working around the clock with nahb now to develop bia's powerful upcoming big trade show with a greater consumer reach than ever seen before kogit has impacted us in so many ways but through it all we've learned that our strength and resilience has enabled us to persevere and to continue to offer valuable programs to our members and our industry i'll take this moment to share that bia needs you now more than ever as bia is ineligible for the ppp loan and bia was unable to hold its summer trade show the association is seeing fiscal pressure like never before it is time we call upon our members who are largely seeing success as essential businesses we're asking you to get involved even more with bia attend our events join a committee and sponsor our activities we're on the search for 15 new elite partners we're calling them the industry elite to help bia develop longevity and fiscal strength in the face of pressures of the pandemic if you're interested in learning more about becoming one of these elites please don't hesitate to call me we're also asking our members to advocate for bia by way of soliciting soliciting new members to join you're all here for a reason so i ask you today to share that reason with your subs and with your colleagues if every member brings one new member in 2021 bia will have the opportunity to continue to thrive thank you to all our members who are here today and thank you for your continued effort to help bia grow it is my long-term goal to scale bia and to bring even more exciting programs networking and marketing opportunities to you so that your business can thrive in the coming years we're all in this together and though this year has been a difficult one we need to remember to breathe to stay grounded and mindful and to remember that this is only a moment in time an exciting and rewarding new year lies ahead we celebrate today all of the hard work effort and love shared by the bia ohana as we get started with today's festivities i'll share my many thanks to the board my wonderful executive committee the membership and staff as i feel lucky to work every day on behalf of this amazing organization i have special thanks to share for few individuals who have offered personal and professional guidance through onboarding as ceo during a pandemic it has not been an easy feat but i will say it's much easier with you on my team so thank you brian moore treasurer financial guru and confidant for your time spent with me at times on the daily to weather the financial reports and cash flow concerns thank you sarah love secretary the most organized and german person i have known for taking me under your wing beginning day one of my interview and for what i can tell many years to come thank you dean you cheetah for your incredible dedication to our advocacy efforts and in helping me to navigate local issues because of you bia has submitted over 125 testimonies this year alone thank you dwight mitsunaga for caring about your employees as i do mine your advice helps even in the darkest of times and thank you for all of your efforts to initiate connections for me thank you peter eldridge for your commitment to great and valuable events for our members and for countless hours discussing the details of them with me and with my team it's because of you that we are able to better understand the needs of our members and i aim to implement what i've learned from you in our upcoming and very exciting events speaking of members thank you hinano nahinu for your dedication to all our members ensuring they are heard and for the time we've spent together discussing how to grow our programs for your insight and business acumen actually you're quite a force of nature thank you evan fujimoto for your building wisdom your replies on the fly and consistent kind words as we navigate the parking lot build out without you this immense project would literally be stuck in the mud there are many more individuals who have volunteered their time to help bia and me through the incredible transitions we faced this year though i may not have the time here today to recognize you outright you know who you are please know that i admire and i appreciate every one of you finally i would like to share some forward-looking notes of mine as we look ahead to 2021 there is a great deal of optimism that life will start to look a little more normal by mid-year i really hope that's the case for via hawaii since beginning as ceo in april this year i've missed the opportunity to meet many of you in person and i look forward to the day we can get together for powhana and talk story and be real with one another i do know that zoom meetings can be exhausting and sterile and i know that you all have exciting things to be talking about these days and would love to do so in person in the meantime though the pandemic necessitates a balanced approach to operations and association programs and for bia that means a cautious opening to in-person education and networking events at our headquarters and a dedicated following of all the rules and regulations coming down to us through the governor's mandates understanding and adhering to safety measures as we navigate to in-person gatherings both indoors that said we are hopeful and excited for what 2021 has in store for bia and the industry and i'd like to offer a little sneak peek into what the year ahead will hold for us we will see an incoming president who is just as excited as i am about building up our members enabling more networking opportunities and new education offerings speaking of education we're planning a course catalog that is 40 larger in offerings throughout the year as expected we'll have some virtual events on the front end of the year but we'll graduate to in-person as soon as possible we're planning to relaunch our parade of homes among other exciting programs we're assembling a group of 15 industry elite partners as an advisory and strategic planning group we're excited to be moving ahead with our winter and summer show plans imagine offering consumers big winter and summer shows at their disposal literally on demand at your place of business on their smartphones and in their homes our shows will introduce showcase and display the must-have new products tech and innovations that our savvy builders remodelers and industry pros can offer to hawaii residents we're working on an exciting and dynamic experience with the platform used by the largest industry trade show in the world and we're putting together an award-worthy marketing plan to get you the visibility that you need throughout the year the show will offer in-person opportunities and we'll be ready to pivot to offer more of these as we transition through the governor's tiered social distancing orders you'll want to stay tuned for more info about the winter show in the coming weeks finally be on the lookout for our industry sponsor opportunity list which we'll have information on all planned events sponsorships and marketing opportunities our calendar is largely planned out for 2021 and we're excited to be able to look forward and be proactive rather than simply respond to the pressures of the pandemic and we hope that you'll take the initiative to get involved and support us where and when you're able what a year we've had 2020 is one for the record books and i for one am looking forward to a new year difficult times force us to adapt and to learn i've personally learned so much this year and from many of my conversations with you i believe you have as well and that's something else to be proud of so once again phenomenal job i wish you all the best and that you're able to take some very precious time with your loved ones this holiday season i can't tell you how thankful i am for all the blessings bestowed upon us this year and i believe we'll see some award to the following members stanley rotsuka for hawaiian county mark kennedy for our sacral construction management team aloha everyone receiving an award like this would usually start out with i'm so honored to be here tonight but things have changed and we won't be together tonight so i'm sitting at my dining room table fumbling with my iphone to make a video that can be incorporated into a gathering that is not a gathering but i've learned a lot from zoom like mute is my friend stay close to the camera when using a background to avoid disappearing i also realize this stuff shows up in the background oops i've learned a few other lessons not shaving for three months makes my face scratchy just because you can buy hair cutting tools at walgreens doesn't mean that you should i thought it was a great idea the package made it look so easy there were pictures and color-coded attachments with numbers and instructions although the instructions were so small that i had to magnify with my iphone apparently this was going to make a mess so i found an extension cord that would reach the backyard plugged in and clipped away cutting with feel no mirrors results in a rustic look that may be in style someday but the look on my wife's face made it clear that i needed to wear a hat for the next three months anyway i'm so honored and grateful to receive the kokua nui award i would like to thank the bia staff board of directors and committees for all their hard work and dedication i would also like to thank the membership whose support is critical to the organization we are all in this and gentlemen it is my honor to introduce to you the 2021 president of the building industry association of hawaii hmm aloha family friends and bia members i'm grateful for this opportunity to address you today this is a humbling opportunity to be the president of the bia in 2021 i wanted to share a little bit about myself for those of you who don't know me i grew up in seattle washington [Music] and spent much of my time there on the lakes and rivers traveling around for different sporting events and having a wonderful time during that time i spent a lot of time driving to and from and my father who grew up in northern california in the lumber business would often drive quickly up behind semi trucks that had lumber plywood big logs and you would point him out and he would ask me do you know what that is do you know what size that is and he would share that knowledge that he had learned from the lumber business with me from that time of being young he had instilled some of those values of hard work and becoming acquainted with the construction industry i graduated high school and had an opportunity to come to hawaii and play basketball at brigham young university of hawaii i played basketball for four years i became immersed in the culture i began to love the islands it's where i met my wonderful wife who i loved dearly and the islands became home to us when i graduated in 2004 we moved to northern california to join the family l mber company my wife and i and our newborn child got there lived with family and spent some wonderful years there in california we had always talked about coming back to the island someday but never knew if we would have the opportunity hbm building supply who i currently work for here on oahu as a sales manager contacted me in 2013 and gave me an opportunity to move my family back to hawaii and work in the lumber business here with them after discussing that opportunity with my wife and our family our small family at the time we decided to make the jump and come back out to hawaii to get reacquainted with the island and be where we be where we loved in 2013 we moved out here and joined the hpm building supply team and haven't looked back since when i got here to hawaii not having a ton of contacts and and knowing the industry like i knew in california i knew where to find the builders i knew where to find the contractors and i quickly signed up and joined the building industry association of hawaii as i attended the networking events and began to meet and grow and learn learn a few people's names and meet some of the contractors i started to feel more at home in the bia in the bia here in hawaii but it wasn't until i had a great conversation with our very own barbara nishikawa who works together with me on the education committee she invited me at that time that if i really wanted to get to know people i should join a committee so i joined the education committee and really began to immerse myself in the bia to get involved in education and through that process i got to meet tons of contacts past presidents existing presidents existing wonderful people in the bia and has helped to shape my future here seven years later to now be the 2021 president of the bia i wanted to express my gratitude to many people first and foremost my family my wonderful wife my four wonderful boys for all that they do for me for the support that they are i want to thank hpn building supply jason fujimoto and the team at hpm for supporting me for believing in me that i could come and be here in hawaii and help build hbm further in the hawaiian islands i also wanted to thank the bia staff for barbara nishikala in the education committee and for our new ceo jess lorena for what she's doing to grow the bia and for all the support that they are for me as an individual and for all of our members at the bia the things that are most important to me are relationships relationships are what make this industry go round it's the relationships that we have it's not the pricing it's not necessarily the products but it's the relationships that we build with one another that help us to build a community around construction it's what bond us together and help us to grow as individuals and help us grow as companies [Music] as the president of 2021 there is much work to be done [Music] [Applause] during this time of covid we have to do things differently so my call to action is for all of you to join me this year to give thanks for the many blessings that we have to give thanks for the construction industry being being deemed essential we've had a wonderful successful 2020 being able to work and employ many people in the hawaiian islands 2021 is going to be faced with more challenges and with those challenges we need to think outside the box and find different things that we can do to help support our industry support our individuals workers and to keep everyone safe a way to do that is to get involved to join a committee to find out what you're passionate about within the construction industry and to be able to volunteer some time to help build a greater community and build long-lasting relationships this coronavirus has presented a lot of challenges but i feel like we've been able as an industry to weather that storm very well during these times we haven't been able to meet very often we've been doing general membership meetings virtually we've been doing board meetings virtually i'm sure in your own businesses you've been doing a lot of zoom calls but one thing that this pandemic has done is it's driven families closer together families have been able to spend more time together with less sports less extracurricular activities less meetings less travel families have been able to hopefully bond themselves together more to spend that quality time with a family is absolutely important one quote that i love is that no other success can compensate for Zipform plus how to sign pdf?

Reply from: dreimdreim@ (Dan Reimer) Date: Sun, 5 Jul 2000 14:43:17 EDT Hi, Yes, I have the pdf form which you can fill out with a credit card, I have a copy of it here. It asks about your age, height, weight, height in centimeters, weight in kilograms, date of birth, address, phone number, email address and the last four digits of your credit card number. It also has instructions to "add" your signature so that the form will be printed on paper, and send it off to your local post office. I'm not an attorney, but I do have some friends who have a lawyer, they can give an interpretation/referal for what information needs to be entered on there. I'll pass it on. I was wondering about what information you might be able to see on there. Is the last four digits of the credit card number or something like that. I am trying to get my name and age verified by a court to get a divorce or an extension on the divorce to get my credit card number updated or something like that. But I am not too familiar with the details. My name is Danielle, but it has been changed. I was trying to ask a question about some information with my application and my name is spelled DEREK not DAVID. Can you please let me know what is on there? Thanks a thousand, Danielle Fro...
