How do I get 50,000 downloads for my mobile app?
Let me tell you what I did to get 100,000 downloads for my first app without any marketing budget, within 99 days.It was my first app and since I was just a student ,that means I didn't had any money to advertise. However I managed 150$.1. The selling point for my app was the UI/UX. And for me the presentation was everything. I knew I was short on budget, and I wanted to convert every click into a download (i mean there is a high probability that if a person clicks on the link,he may not download it because of poor screenshots)So good, professional looking screenshots were Page on important.so for that I needed a photoshop professional(although I designed the app myself,I wasn't very good at photoshop) so I hired a guy from freelancing websites.I paid the guy 50$ for 5 screenshotsgood iconI then hired a guy for the video. Now if you don't know how most of the videos are made, you may end up paying 150-400$there are websites from where you can buy templates for virtually everything. So we purchased a 25$ template, hired a guy for 40$ to do the changes to it.So the whole video was done for 65$2 I got fake facebook likes(40,000 likes for 40$ people are real but they don't come to know when they liked the page, there are scripts for fake facebook likes) as we thought it can be used as an audience, but turns out it was a waste,as facebook has changed it algorithms, and a post's visibility only increases if it gets enough momentum(i.e comments and likes). And it is quite obvious that no one would be interested in a post from a page which they never liked themselves. The post never signNowed 40,000 people which was our intended target. 3. I got the description done, ourselves. There are websites for SEO (or ASO ,app search optimization)like sensor tower which can be used for figuring out which keyword to use.4. Added 1000+ friends on facebook from my college before the launch5. I launched the app.6. I gave credit to those people on how they were so supportive and accepted our random friend requests and then sneaked in the download link with very pretty images.People like to take credits for no reason ,just like they want to feel good and superior and want to be a part of something, without any reason,I just exploited it.7. The early downloads and reviews were quite important8. They reviewed and downloaded.About 200-300 of them.9. Just after I launched it,I changed my schedule and started sleeping 9 hrs in 2 days .i.e 4.5 hrs a day, with 3 hrs of sleeping shifts. i searched for lists of websites which review android apps.Sent them a copy pasted message and often making intentional mistakes while typing the subject like "Android 'ApP' Review",to get their attention as you are not the only one sending them emails. we tried to make it look as professional as we could. But tried to keep the message friendly.I posted them 100 each day.10. Spamming on facebook groups. The post here doesn't have to be professional and the screenshots should not look professional,if they are ,(these screenshots were differnt from the ones one the app page) you will give an impression that your app comes from a company and it won't appear as a personal request but like an advertisement which you don't want.I posted them 100 each day11. Sending messages to youtubers to review it and then posting on their new videos ,asking people to try it and asking the channel owner to review it.I posted them 100 each day or maybe more.12. Posting on reddit, forums, qoura etc.13. reviews from feverr.14. backlinks.15. update regularly. We did this for 20 days. The rest of the downloads were all organic(means they were due to people searching for a music player etc, rather than clicking somewhere)13. Now the app is getting 2000+ downloads per day on average (for the last 20 days). All of them are organic. As of now,(i.e 14th october, the app stands at 95,000 downloadsCurrenlty when you search for a "music player" our app ranks at the number 20.And it is the only app within the top 20 with a range of 50,000-100,000 range. All other apps have atleast 1/2 million downloads. With the maximum at 500 million.P.S if you want to have a look at the app, send me a message or write a comment :)

What has been the most honest moment you’ve had with a salesperson?
In 1992, I was working as a Clown all around Seattle, and living in Tacoma, and going to school in Olympia. Needless to say, I was putting A LOT of miles on my car. It died. I had a rental, and on my way home from work one Saturday afternoon, on an impulse I pulled into a Ford Dealership.I knew I had credit issues, no real job (self-employed Children’s Entertainer) so when the sales person approached me and asked if he could help me - I said no. I flatly described my situation - including a repo when I was married - and told him to not waste time on me.He was surprised by my honesty and that I wasn’t trying to waste his time. He made me promise not to leave - he thought he might be able to help me out. He went to talk to his manager, then came out and said “I think I may have a car for you.” Took me into his office to fill out some papers, then sent me away. (I lived almost an hour south of the dealership.) He told me to call in 2 hours, and he’d have an answer. When I called, he told me to come in - that they had a car. My Father drove me back up and I went in and signed all the final papers for much less than I expected. It was for an 8 year old car, so I expected a lemon, but I needed a car. Then he handed me keys and said “It’s the blue car parked outside.”HOLY CRAP! There was a NEW looking Ford Escort. Yes it was 8 years old, but had less than 8,000 miles. A couple had bought it as a commuter car, then ended up working for the same company so it had stayed parked in the garage while they rode in their other car. They finally decided to get a jeep or something for leisure time, and turned it in.It was a total cream puff - nice stereo, good Heater and even an AC (not standard in Washington State at that time.) I was shocked. He told me my honest attitude had been such a breath of fresh air after several unpleasant experiences that day, and he and his manager agreed to “give me” that car. His manager and he even had a bet as to whether I would insist on seeing the car before buying it!(He won … since I had just trusted him to do right by me, and signed the papers!)That was one of the best cars I ever had, and truly the best experience I’ve had with ANY sales person!

What was the most blatant scam a customer has ever failed to get away with?
When I was a broke college student in the early 1990s, I worked in a busy bookstore in a mall in downtown Boston. The register was located at the front of the store, on a raised platform, so we could monitor customers as they came and left. One day when I was working the register, I noticed a cute guy enter the store carrying a metal clipboard—the kind that had a compartment for storing a notebook or additional paperwork. After disappearing into the back of the store, the guy returned moments later and got in line. When it was his turn, he smiled at me, opened the clipboard’s compartment, and ...

Why did you join Quora? What are some good reasons to join?
My Quora Inception: Episode 1A Reader ArrivesOctober 2011,San Francisco, California. My research group had just finished a stellar performance at IROS, 2011; an internationally reputed robotics conference and our professor took us out to a really fancy Sushi and Karaoke bar to celebrate. Most of my colleagues were piss drunk within the hour and singing away to glory. My mentor and I were the only two people in the group who didn’t drink so after devouring more sushi than I had ever seen in my life, I started chatting with him about what I should do to learn and grow more quickly, how I should raise my bar to meet what the research group had set and how I can get an insight into more experiences and journeys. That is when he told me about this site and app called Quora. It was new and fresh and a place where a bunch of nerds talked about nerdy stuff. Answers were very well researched and largely revolved around technical topics. I signed up and started reading. I watched it evolve from that small little closed box of nerds into the mammoth it is today. I was a silent reader for almost 7 years.I’ve watched people complain about the dilution of quality content on Quora but I never found that to be true. If you follow the right people and topics and don’t mind filtering out the noise, there is SO MUCH to learn from this platform and the people on it; no matter what your genre of interest. My Quora Inception: Episode 2A Writer is BornFebruary 2018,Seattle, Washington.I just got back to Seattle after one of the most harrowing experiences of my life; a family emergency call from India which resulted in a month in the ICU with my dad helping him battle for his life after a very severe life-altering stroke. I had kept absolute calm and maintained my composure through the journey but when I got back there as a feeling of void; a sense of helplessness at being far away and not in control anymore; almost as if I had left the rest to fate. I decided to pen down my thoughts and wrote my first Quora answer that day. As I was writing, I thought through all the stressful situations I had been through that month, and, why they did not frazzle me even once. The answer was quite obvious; I was prepared. I had read and studied so many scenarios on disaster management, read so many stories on dealing with intense pressure and learned to separate decision making from emotions. A lot of that directly or indirectly came through Quora. I decided that day that maybe I too should share a few life incidents and anecdotes here and hopefully help change the lives of a few people. I wanted to give back and make a difference. I had already been writing about birds for many years on other social media platforms and didn’t want to repeat the genre. Education and learning from life experiences are topics that I’m very passionate about and had often been the themes of many late night debates and discussions with friends; so I thought; why not write about it?As a college student, I didn’t have a lot of guidance or mentorship while I was learning the ropes, but at some point, when cold emails resulted in a couple of people helping me by merely sharing their own journey and experiences; I was very motivated and learned a lot from them. When I started writing on Quora, I just wanted to pay that forward and make a difference in a few lives.I’d like to believe that a non-zero number of people have learned something from my answers, been motivated and inspired a tad, to push themselves a little bit harder in life and work towards their dreams and goals.I’m not sure if these were good reasons to join Quora; I’ll let you be the judge of that in the comment section. This was just my personal story here and why I chose to join. It’s the reason I do my job; it’s the reason I nurture relationships; it’s the reason I build my network; to make a tiny little difference in the lives of a few people; to make the world a little bit better than how I found it; to shares a few smiles and wipe a few tears and make your day a tiny bit happier. In case we haven’t met before, I’m Rohan Kamath.Thank you for reading. I hope I could help you smile today. :)

What can I learn/know right now in 10 minutes that will be useful for the rest of my life?
Don't stop watching pornYes, if you stop watching you will watch more. Many answers I have seen that saying “ don't watch porn”Instead reduce it, if you are watching porn 2 times a day first reduce it to one Time and do masturbate one Time, after that don't think of porn that day. Do this for 7days to 30days.After 30 days you can watch porn 4 times in a week, Sunday is must. do it for same 7–30days which is comfortable for you.2 months over now you can watch porn weekly twice same Sunday is must.By this you are less addicted to porn you can get enough time to do something better .Or you can do some productive work from the time which you have saved from watching porn.Productive means you can read books..It takes lot of Time to finish one book,so you can listen to audiobook . You can get audiobook in YouTube for freeI recommend you to read rich dad poor dadAfter reading the book you will get addicted to it. What are you "so over"?
What am I over?Great question for this particular day. What I am over is holding in my pain. Here is my backstory. My brother is very abusive. He is one and a half years older than me, and he began to punch me in the stomach when I was two.Through the years he has been better and worse, but no matter what was going on in either of our lives, he could usually be counted on to make it worse. For example. I had the family dog after my father died and our home was sold and everyone scattered. Our beloved dog Daisy had recently died and my brother’s girlfriend brought us a dog one day. Not the best idea, but her heart was in the right place.I called him Ploppy Dog, because I had never seen bigger poops from a dog before.I changed it to Poppy. It seemed kinder.Ploppy, I mean Poppy, in all his goofy glory. As I said, after my dad died, our house was on the market. For some reason, while he was in the hospital dying from colon cancer, he thought that the taxes on the home, which he had always hated, would be a problem for us.Obviously, he wasn’t thinking clearly. He put our home on the market, so, not only did we have to pick up the pieces of our shattered hearts, we had to pack up and move.Everyone scattered in different directions. Mom moved to their condo in Florida, my brother, David (not his real name), went to Arizona. They took what they wanted and the rest of the household items were left to me to deal with. Everything in the garage and the barn and Poppy.I found a place to live and Poppy was a wild, not very bright dog.David came back from Arizona and I decided to go visit Mom. I hadn’t seen her since Dad died.I made explicit arrangements with him for the care and feeding of Poppy. He said things like, “No problem, Karen, I’ve got it covered, you need a break, go and have fun.” Words to that effect. One day, in Florida, as I was getting ready for the beach, David called. I picked up the phone and heard this angry voice speaking ice words at me. “You need to take care of your dog. I have things to do. That’s just like you, Karen, leaving your responsibilities to everyone else to handle.”I was 1300 miles away from him. What the…I calmly replied that I did take responsibility. I asked you to take care of him and gave you everything that he needs and you accepted. Not that talking reasonably and logically ever worked. That example is just a day in the life…Just the tip of the iceberg of what life was like on the roller coaster named David.Fast forward some years to the horrible year that my sweet mom died.On Christmas eve, David, who now also lived in Florida, said, “Why don’t you come over tonight and watch a movie with us. Bring Sunny (my faithful little companion) and you can both sleep over. We’ll set up her litter box here.”After the three month long nightmare of being by my mom’s side as she died from pancreatic cancer, I thought maybe it would be okay. A nice meal and we would watch a video of Independence Day.The next day, I was told that it would be easier to take care of me if I lived in their home. Because of my serious and rare thyroid disease, I, unfortunately, couldn’t care for myself. My mom had taken me into her home in Florida from Buffalo, our family home, to take care of all of my needs. But, Mom was gone now, and the monster that was lurking underneath the surface, reared its ugly head with such a vengeance that I’m still reeling from it.I stayed there for four months, as I was shown photos of the dismantling of my home. Mom’s condo.I know. Deeply cruel. I knew better than to ask him where my things were. For all intents and purposes, they were GONE. Probably put next to the dumpster.Life was getting harder and harder there. His wife and I both thought that he was going to haul off and hit us at any minute. He was walking around with his lips in a thin, harsh straight line. His face was a mask of pent-up anger and I don’t even know what. But, what I do know is that wife and I were afraid. That we walked around on eggshells is putting it lightly.I began to secretly gather my things together. Everything that I owned was packed up in boxes in the back room. Life was getting intolerable and I spent one whole day on the phone talking with a kind woman at the suicide hotline.I had a straight razor next to my bed. I was either going to use it or leave.I knew that he would never let me leave in any reasonable way, with my boxes and my mom’s car, which he had signed over to his wife, so I silently made a plan. One night, when everyone was asleep, about 2AM, with the television in my room blaring, I gathered my pillow, my medications, my and my mom’s jewelry, my purse, and the clothes on my back, and walked in the dark to the door.Sunny was in the kitchen. I walked to the door and silently called her to me with my finger.Come here, Sunny.Sunny was deaf, and was well used to our hand signals. She hesitated for a second, then calmly walked to me.I scooped her up, grabbed Mom’s keys and walked outside to a mild drizzle. The automatic night lights turned on and my already crazily beating heart jumped into double time.I struggled with the lock and keys, my backpack on my back, my purse on my shoulder, Sunny in one hand and my suitcase holding my pillow and our jewelry in the other.I finally got the door opened and I unceremoniously tossed Sunny onto the passenger seat. Next came my suitcase and my purse, both of which landed on top of her.I jumped into the front seat with my backpack still on, and quickly closed the door. The seatbelt came on me, being one of those cars that had the seatbelt move over your chest on its own.I’m leaning forward because of the backpack and I struggle to get the key in the slot in the dark. I dared not put the lights on.I hadn’t driven a car in a few years. Mom had done all of the driving. And I had never driven Mom’s car before.I backed around and drove as quickly as I could down the tree-lined driveway, putting my headlights on after finally finding them.I turned on to the road and sped to the main road. When I got to the main road, I turned the other way than I was going. To get to the next town, I was supposed to turn right. I turned left and into the first hidden driveway and turned out the lights, just in case he had heard all the racket that I felt like I was making.I sat there breathing heavily, waiting for his truck to drive by. He didn’t show up.After about 20 minutes, and after I got my poor Sunny situated and the soft suitcase off of her, we took off into the unknown night.Taking all the back roads, I drove up to the next town. Two hotels wouldn’t take animals, so I found a dive motel and didn’t tell them that I had her.I called a friend whom I had last spoken to from David’s the night that I left, and told her where I was.So, jumping ahead again, I found a small old, frame house and paid for it with the money from Mom’s inheritance.About a year later, there is a knock on my door. A very kind and loving and contrite David. This isn’t the first time that he had come back to me after atrocious behavior. This was the pattern. And I stupidly played my part. I had kicked him out of my life so many times before and then let him back in. He was always on his best behavior and that would sometimes last for years.I let him back in and then he thought that he would remodel my home and give me some more room.He went through my home like a whirlwind. And then he stopped. Before it was finished.Of course, I never mentioned that glaring fact. I knew better from past experiences. I was happy that I now had beautiful tile throughout and a perfect kitchen, and his behavior was okay. Not perfect but handleable. But, David being David, things started slipping again. Inch by inch by inch until one day, September 11th, 2006, I could take it NO MORE, and I kicked him out for good.Even though I would have to find people to help me with things that he had taken care of, I decided that I would rather live my life on my terms, even if I didn’t have anyone to help me, than be abused by him.Nine years later, as I was walking across the beautiful tile into the kitchen, a hole broke through into the 18 inch space below my floors. What?!I looked at it and the wood was broken up around the tile.I frantically called my handyman of the last few years, someone who had helped me with mostly anything that I needed help with.He came over and checked it out and said that it was all termite-eaten wood. That began weeks of construction work, with Randy the handyman tearing up my floor in the living room and moving everything from that room into my bathroom and shower stall and in every spare inch of my bedroom, and up against the wall in the living room. Here’s how the living room looks. And my bedroom. As you can see, there is so much stuff in front of my dressers, that I have to pile my clothes up on the top of it. There isn’t a spare inch of empty space.Randy is working on the floor, removing tiles and sub-flooring to expose the termite-eaten foundation, two by fours and sixes. I don’t know how the floor didn’t fall through with every step that I took! Here are some photos of the work being done and how the floor looked. This was caused by the way that David remodeled my home. He put in a wooden deck in the front and on the side of the house. But, Randy told me, that because he made the deck at the same level as the inside floors, the water was slowly seeping under the door and under the tiles. Causing the wood to get wet and bringing in termites that devoured my foundation. He also took my screened in lanai (Florida-speak for porch with a screen around it) and added that to my house, so the lanai was gone and I now had extra room inside, during the remodel.I’m probably not explaining it with the correct words, but you get what I’m saying.Another thing that Randy found, which is what precipitated this answer tonight, is, he found a hole in my front wall, where the lanai used to be, right near the deck. This hole was about 5 or 6 inches in diameter, opening right into my living room, but hidden behind my desk.Randy starts taking off the siding that David had installed, and what does he discover just behind the siding, on the new load bearing wall that David had built?Pink insulation. And behind that was drywall. David neglected to actually build a wall there. It also had only about six two-by-fours holding up the whole front of my home!Randy went on to rebuild and fortify the front wall, covering the hole and making it strong and sturdy.Randy also replaced the wood in the living room, put down one layer of sub floor and then he took off. He was a reliable functional alcoholic, but he added pills to his little toxic mix, and he suddenly disappeared. Moved to another part of Florida. Who knows what was happening in his life…That’s my living room floor now, with Ginger laying on it. Such a good boy.So, why did I tell you all of this. Because Sean asked me What I was over.I’m over not talking about the truth of my life.David lives near me, not even 45 minutes away. And if he ever read what I wrote, there is no telling what he would do.The reason he remodeled my home and then sabotaged it, was because I had the nerve to leave his house in the middle of the night and run for my life. Because I told him NO, you can’t treat me like that.He did so much more to my home, like putting in new window frames, but not sealing them. More termites, more water pouring in the kitchen window when it rained, which I had to have fixed. So many details that I have left out. But, tonight while I was talking with a friend, I told her about the hole in my front wall and how shoddily the wall was constructed, and I began to cry for the first time since any of this first happened three years ago.Since that first initial panic when that hole came through the floor, which has yet to be repaired, by the way. Randy took all of his tools and left before he had even gotten to the damage in the kitchen, from the water pouring in the side door. Anyway, I had no real emoting of any of my pain.I hadn’t shed a tear. All that I have felt is burning anger. And happiness that I kicked David out when I did. And an incredible disbelief that my own brother would seek to destroy my home! And great sadness.Oh, I have felt deep pain too, but only on the outside. I have never shed a tear. It’s hard to explain, but when you grow up with someone like David, you start holding in how you really feel. Survival depends on it. And, I am a survivor. But, today is the beginning of my healing. I’m over protecting my abusers.I’m over not feeling my feelings. I’m over not crying.I’m so over it that I’m crying as I type. And I will now cry when I’m hurting. Cry when I’m sad. Tell my truth. Tell my pain.I’m over it.Thank you for this very timely A2A, Sean.Let me tell you, I am feeling great fear as I get ready to hit submit. David lives near me, as I said. And he’s a beast. But, here I go…(Forgive me for any typos during this deeply emotional experience of writing this. Don’t bother to edit them. When my brain is clearer and my heart stops pounding in my chest, I will re-read this and fix it.)Thank you for reading this long answer.Thank you to Louise D. Jewell for starting me on my healing journey as she courageously goes on hers.Submit
