How do I scan multiple pages into a single PDF file on Mac OS X?
To add to Brett's answer, the "Combine into single document" checkbox is in OS X 10.7 (Lion). You won't find it on Snow Leopard. On Snow Leopard (10.6): 1. Launch the Preview app, and choose File | Import from Scanner. It'll pop up a window titled "Import from %3Cscanner%3E", where %3Cscanner%3E is the name of your scanner. 2. Scan the first page to PDF format. The Preview app will show the page. 3. In Preview, click the toolbar button for the sidebar. In the Preview sidebar, you'll see a thumbnail of the page. 4. In the "Import" window, scan the last page. The thumbnail will appear below the first one, and the titlebar will say "(2 documents, 2 total pages)". 5. In the sidebar, drag the thumbnail of the last page onto the thumbnail of the first page. (You must drag the file on top of the thumbnail, not above or below it.) 6. Right-click on the thumbnail of the last page, and select "Close". Now the titlebar will say "(page 1 of 2)". The sidebar should show only one thumbnail of the PDF binder. 7. Scan the second page. In the sidebar, it'll show up as a second thumbnail below the PDF binder. 8. Click on the binder thumbnail and it'll expand to show its pages. So now there should be 3 thumbnails. 9. Drag the bottom thumbnail (of the newly scanned page) up to between the first and second thumbnails. You must drag it up between the two pages, and it'll copy that page. Now you'll see 4 thumbnails: the first page with a binding along the left edge, the second page with a "1" beneath it, the last page with a "1" beneath it, and the bottom thumbnail is the most recently scanned page with a temporary PDF name beneath it. 10. Right-click on the bottom thumbnail and Close. Now the titlebar will say "(page 1 of 3)". 11. Keep doing this (scanning, dragging, closing) until you've scanned all the pages. 12. When you're done, you can rearrange the pages of the PDF by dragging the thumbnails around in the sidebar. 13. File | Save As... and give the name of the multi-page PDF. 14. This process does create single page PDFs, so you'll have to delete those files if you don't want them.

What is the best electronic document signing service?
Hello, It’s hard to mention just one as what you’ll find as “the best” depends on the needs you are looking to fulfill. For example, highly regulated companies and with the need for high security and compliance would say that MSB [ http://www.signNow.com ]or Creative, marketing and document management solutions [ http://www.signNow.com ] would be the best options. But if you need something not so highly secured/encrypted let’s say just to send HR contracts you may want to go for a cheaper solution like signNow Document Management Software - Streamline Sales Workflows [ http://www.signNow.com ] or DocHub [ http://www.dochub.com ]. As I require high security in all the signing processes and a robust audit trail to verify signer’s identity and intent to sign I went with MSB [ http://www.signNow.com ]. My recommendation is that based on what your needs are, request demos of all the platforms that you think have the capabilities to address those needs. The best decision is an informed decision, I believe. And remember, everyone will say they are “The best”. It’s on you to evaluate and decide if they are truly the best for you and your specific use-cases. Hope this helped. Feel free to message me with any questions.

What is the best free online PDF editor?
If you ask me about the best free PDF converter or editor, I would recommend you to try LightPDF [ https://lightpdf.com/ ]. I have tried nearly 10 online PDF tools including ilovepdf, pdf 2 go, pdf candy, smallpdf, etc and only this one satisfies me most. Interface: Why is it the best and safest PDF tool? For the safety: * It won’t share or republish the PDF files you upload for managing via its server. It promises to delete all the processed files instantly. Compared to other online PDF tools, it is the only which will delete the files at the first time. For the functions and user-interface: * It is a 100% free online PDF service. No matter what kind of system you are using, you can use it. * It has a very intuitive interface. Once you open the application on your browser, you will how to use it even if you are the first-time user. * There are no limitations of the times about managing files within one day, the maximum file size you upload, and the duration of using the application. * You are not required to install software or sign up for using it. * It allows you to convert PDF to word, PNG, JPG, etc or convert Excel, PPT, word, JPG, etc to PDF. * It has many kinds of useful PDF tools allowing you to sign, merge, split, unlock, lock PDF or add watermark to PDF. * You may add various annotations like text, arrow, line, etc to your PDF tools by using its editing function. This is my opinion. You’d better try LightPDF and then decide to use which one. Hope my suggestion can help you.

What is the best way of pasting an image of your signature into a PDF document on Mac OS X?
* A) use a tablet with a pen (Wacom or similar) and write your signature into a graphics program (Photoshop or similar) … if you have neither, look for a friend working in creative agency or * B) write your signature on a sheet of paper and scan it or * C) write your signature on a sheet of paper, take a photograph and import it into iPhoto. * Save the graphic to a TIFF, lossless JPEG or any file format you want. * Drag and drop the TIFF into Pages or whatever text editor you use. * Resize it until it fits. * Choose "Print" and then in the upcoming dialogue "Save to pdf". That's it. --- Edit: With Mac OS X Lion, all it is going to take is a Mac with an iSight! From Gizmodo after WWDC 2011: %3E Digital Document Signing: Now this is super cool. Need to sign a digital document? That's tough, because you don't want to write on your screen, and printing anything sucks. So instead, hold up a paper copy of your signature, and your iSight will auto-scan it and let you stick it on the doc. http://gizmodo.com/5809100/the-best-of-the-240-unsung-features-in-os-x-lion

Frequently asked questions
How do i add an electronic signature to a word document?
When a client enters information (such as a password) into the online form on , the information is encrypted so the client cannot see it. An authorized representative for the client, called a "Doe Representative," must enter the information into the "Signature" field to complete the signature.
How do you do an electronic signature in good docs?
What is the proper way to do this? Can you show me one?
What about a "paper trail" which is an electronic signature, but with some extra paperwork?
A "paper trail" is an important part of digital signatures. It allows people to verify the signature by looking for the signature itself and for the date it was made. If we had no paper trail, a hacker can just sign whatever they like without checking any dates or signatures.
It is important to remember that it is possible to create a "bad" file, and to do this, we need to check how it was generated. An example for a bad file would be a file with the word "crickets" in it.
It's not hard to create a "bad" signature. If somebody is trying to commit a crime, they might write the wrong code, or sign their name backwards. But a hacker could also use a machine to make a copy of a file and then change its file size. If we had no paper trail, it's hard to know which file changed how often. If we had a "paper trail" then we could be sure that a change in file size was not just done by accident.
It's also important to remember that the person who does the "bad" file may already be a hacker and trying to pass themselves off as a person who was a hacker.
You have two possible choices to check the paper evidence: (1) get in touch with the person who made the file and ask him for his evidence; or (2) get in touch with the person who signed the file for his evidence.

How to wirelessly sign a pdf?
This can be helpful, especially if you are trying to get the signature in a PDF.
The above picture shows the wires for the Arduino in the middle. The two red wires are for the microcontroller. They connect to the Arduino's pin D12 on the Arduino board. The three yellow wires are the USB power to the microcontroller. The green wire is a data cable that is plugged into the microcontroller.
The red wires for the Arduino and green wire are what we will be using. The yellow wires are for your computer. You can choose a cable that best suits your needs. You will also need a piece of wire to go between the Arduino and your computer. I bought some 10 foot wires from ebay and soldered them on a piece of wire. The wire is soldered to a piece of wire, just be sure to secure the wire with heat-shrink tubing that will not short.
Now, we are ready to wire up the Arduino sketch. I made up a little program that prints the information of a file in the file window. When I ran this program it worked correctly.
The sketch:
#include <> #include <> void setup() { (9600); } void loop() { char file[]=""; (macAddress, ipAddress); (dev); ("Starting "); while (!()) { delay(1000); } (""); }
Here's what the sketch does:
Uploads the arduino sketch. The ethernet and usb ports are used to communicate with the Arduino. Starts the program. When the program is running the Arduino will send serial data. Once the program is complete the sketch prints something out like so:
> /dev/ttyUSB1 #0: AT+CWMODE=1...
