To put it simply, the exhibition is meant to show how art and design evolve as they evolve with technology, and this is a good thing, according to project director Martijn van Vugt. In the past, he says, design has been a "time-consuming activity." But with new technologies, designers are able now to make things much faster and cheaper. It's also a good thing because of the way this new design is able to create a new environment, he says. For example, an artist might use 3D technology to make a sculpture, but in the same way as in the past, they might have to use a model to create their artwork. Now they can use a computer and a 3D printer to create the sculpture on a larger scale than before. "It's the technology that makes the design possible," van Vugt tells The Creators Project.
