hi guys welcome back to my channel so today's video is going to be about how to convert a pdf bank statement into an excel format and then afterwards to convert that to a format that you can import into accounting program so today i'm gonna show you how to do that with pastel you can do it with sage one or zero any other accounting program and the reason why sometimes you have to do this is if you have a new client and you have to process their whole year's bank statements and they can't send it to you in the csv format or ofx that you can import to use bank manager in pastel and and you they can't send you that but they can send you the whole year's pdf statements so then what you're gonna have to do is convert all that pdfs into csv format to import it into pastel to make your life just a whole lot of is easier and it's gonna just take less of time just to import it all right firstly what you have to do is you have to you have your pdf statement there you open word and you drag a pdf to word it's gonna ask you do you want to edit it just click okay all right so now what you're gonna do is you're gonna start and you're gonna highlight from wheels transaction started and you highlight it till the bottom copy it and now you paste it into excel all right so now what you're gonna have to do now is make it compatible to import into pastel so firstly i'm gonna just edit it a bit cool let's take off the motion center yes so because of the amounts looks like this credit credit credit and stuff like that you did this you know i like if to edge say find all the creators and replace it [Music] and now you're gonna start saying i need opening balance so with the open minute oh [Music] so oh right so now that you have all the values in the correct format i'm gonna use this this is if you import the statement the icsv into pastel you have to use this template all right so now you start with the period is the 10 10th period is december you start by just saying equals the date the reference i'm just gonna say it's a check this check account like that description equals description value this is the red if there's bad we don't have to do that later putting a formula in here if that h1 is bigger than two i'm saying g must times it by 15 divided by 115 to give me the right amount this is your control account this is the bank account you're using it pastel so if it's 8400 you have to put it here this is this you must always have this one one zero zero zero and then this much you must have as equals that amount all right so now what you're just gonna have to do is drag this one down right all right so now you basically have almost a template okay um just deleting all the zeros alright so now you have your bank statement converted you for now i'm just putting this account number like this because it's the assessments again i'm not gonna put in the account numbers now but it's very easy to to allocate all that accounts normally what i do is i just highlight everything like this and i say filter custom filter sort by a from a to z now you have fully oh now it's very easy to allocate this almost easier than bank manager and now what you can do is you can make two columns that says this is the payments seeds copy this thing here largest i have my receipt here payments here you open two excels copy the to here is the file save as you say this is my pay you have to select this csv community limited save yourself you can go out that one do the same with the receipts server csv now you can go to your pastel go to that bank account where you go and you post the bank transactions and you go and you say import and you import this bank account the payments and the receipts and it's as easy as that and yes so i hope you like this video you can now you can see you posted like 243 transactions in less than 10 minutes and if you have a template of zero stage one you can just use because you have the descriptions you have the amounts you can save it as that or not it will work out bad for you yeah it says very easy to import bank statements from pdf to excel then to any accounting program i hope you like this video and please guys subscribe to my channel for more videos like this thank you
