technology had an impact that really changed the pattern of life the way people worked the times that they worked and the economy that was here we're all kind of impacted by just a simple thing like being able to manufacture an arm using water power Cemal Slater had already completed an apprenticeship in England he was being groomed to become a mill manager but I get the feeling he was an ambitious guy we came over here in 1789 he had the know-how he knew how to start a mill but he didn't have the funding he certainly didn't have one Moses Brown was really interested in starting a mill his family in Providence were very wealthy they were merchants and traders and businessmen so a division and the money I think the biggest impact that suelo had was the fact that both Sam slavery Moses Brown from the very beginning understood that to keep the workforce on the property they paid and cold hard cash so those little kids that worked there were there were five or six seven years
