[Music] this is the halyard animal research center at South farm this is one of the main buildings here that the students get to study in hi I'm McKenna McCann I'm an ambassador here at the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences at USU we're here in the main operating room at the Hilliard building at South farm this is where most of the vet students do their surgeries and they do treatments they practice on all sorts of different species here across the front so here this classroom at the your building is where all the students get to study parasites like this one this is a type of round worm students get to learn how to prevent these these parasites and also how to treat these parasites and all sorts of different species this microscope is really cool because the professor will take a sample of the parasite put it on a microscopic level and it'll display on to the screen and the students are able to study and see what the professor's talking about and he's able to point out things for the students to learn this is very bones that he's not to look at he's not looking too awesome right now but in his prime he was a riding horse here for us you we studied nutrition on him we studied Exercise Science on him and we just loved him so much that we kept him here at USU and now we still study his skeleton so this is a lab where the class students get to take the carcass evaluation class they get to study the different cuts of meat and be able to learn how to grade them throughout all the different species there's a track that takes the hanging carcasses from here into the freezers and then into the classroom as well this is the equine Education Center this includes the arena this includes horse stables this includes the mayor and stallion barn it also includes training facilities that the students get to utilize all of these resources here in these stables these horses are on a nutrition experiment they're studying different rations on different ages and sizes of horses to see how it affects their performance like this okay here in this beautiful indoor arena this is where they have the competitions for our writing teams we have the Western driving team in question riding team in a rodeo team that I'll compete competitively there's a bunch of fun classes like horse production and a bunch of different writing classes they also do an equine Assisted activities and therapies class which basically you're using the horse as therapy which is a really really cool research they're doing so this is the mare barn this is where a lot of our breeding classes are held the professor's do if artificial insemination and the students get to be a part of that they get to see the end result with these adorable foals in here they also practice weaning methods and handling methods as well with these with these horses this is a goat barn and all of these guys here are used for a lot of research here at USU we do cloning with them we Messala goats you see are either clones or their circuits for the clones so they carry the clones by the girl we do a ton of medical research with them and study human diseases to see how they can help us and I'll tell the students can be involved in this research this is the Sheep barn these super used for the students to be able to understand sheep management they get to do breeding soundness exams I get to learn to collect blood or grade wool and everything that the professor teaches in class the students get to come out here and practice this is the bee facility mainly they test raphson's for beef quality on these guys to see how it affects their meal one of the best things about South farm is it's lots of free parking [Music] [Music]
