darling you send me [Music] hi everyone what's up if you are new here my name is swani and i make weekly lifestyle videos i make pr videos and i'm also writing a book so i'm going to be taking you along on the book writing journey and this is one of those videos that i'm going to be talking all about the book stuff and um the book pr and marketing and just sharing all the stuff that i know with you in case you are also writing a book or if you have a product or something that you want to launch and you want certain pr techniques and you want to learn more about that if you normally watch my videos you know that i took the gabby bernstein bestseller masterclass and yesterday i was revisiting the last module which is all about doing pr and marketing for your book and she talks like she touches on a lot of important points that i want to talk to you about because it's something that i'm also like going through so it's like a fun dynamic because i'm creating content out of writing the book but it's also like to serve you and to like make sure that you also are getting something from from it anyway side note and the first thing she says is that six months out you should already be sharing with your audience what you know your writing process um whatever like if you want to share what your book is about you can share that too if you have a title you can share that so you can share as much as you want with your audience but like let people know that this is what you're doing at the moment so that they can follow along in your journey so part of like this video series part of like me sharing on youtube and on instagram which i share like more day to day on instagram is because i am writing this book and i want you guys to like see how it goes and like follow along the journey and potentially learn from it if that's something that you want to do so six months out before writing your book or before creating your products or whatever you want to take people along on the journey of that and then um you should also create a your own email distribution list if you have an instagram audience or a tick tock audience or a youtube audience like there's no guarantee that that's always going to be there so you want to be compiling your own email addresses because you don't know like what's going to happen with the social media platforms but once you have a list of your own addresses that are people that you speak to and then you create like that audience in that way then like that's going to be a forever list because you're always going to have those email addresses so that was my intention with creating a newsletter so that's why i created a newsletter i'll leave a link below if you want to follow it but in the newsletter i talk about like basically whatever comes to mind that week and i make sure to like include my youtube and like my book and not make it to like self-promotional but also yes make yourself promotional because you're working so hard on something you're working on a book or you're working hard to like make a video so you want it to get out there so i think like a lot of like pr and marketing and if you're especially if you're doing for yourself like you kind of have to get rid of the fear of not like self-promoting because you're going to have to do that and no one is going to promote it as well as you do or no one's gonna like get that message out as well as you because you put all your heart in it and that is what you want people to know and learn and so definitely six months before you write your book you should be creating an email list and um sharing with your audience another thing you should be doing is day to day everybody reads at least an article or listens to a podcast watches youtube video goes on tick tock so as you do like your day to day if you see something that is that if you see a publication that is already covering like what your book is about you want to write them write down that publication have it like in like a spreadsheet write down the publication and write down the journalists who has covered um maybe like a story that's similar to the story you want to tell or who is like most recently covering books or who covers books like write down anything that could be related and anyone that you could pitch your book if it's a podcast about agriculture and you're writing a book on that like definitely have a list and start compiling that list so when you get to like your point where you can pitch your book you don't have to like do all of this extra work because you've already been doing it like six months down along the line pay attention to your target audience um my target audience are latinas and like in general that next community and that is what i'm gonna be paying the most attention to so obviously i want this book to be like in the general news and in kind of everyday news but i'm paying special attention to the next publications because i know that's my audience and i know those are the people that are going to be wanting to purchase my book and learn from my book and you know are interested in the topic in general so i've already started my list i've started thinking of publications that i like and i'm like continuously putting names and email addresses and information in that list so that when the book is out i can be like hey this is what the book is about and um hopefully get featured in those publications that's the idea and throughout this journey i'll be sharing more tips like what you should be doing three months out or what you you should be doing like two months out or like the week up or whatever so as i go through it i'll be sharing that with you so be sure to subscribe if you haven't today's friday and i'm just gonna be sitting here writing i have um every day i have a list of the writings that i have to do so today i have five profiles to write i've written one but the majority of my book is interview based which means i have to do a lot of reaching out and coordinating interviews which has been a lot more time come to me than actually writing the book so like the writing part of it hasn't taken me that long and at first like i thought that i was gonna do all the interview first and then like snap out three weeks or a month to like write everything but like it's looking like it's not gonna work that way because if i wait to do all the interviews and to then start writing it's gonna take me forever to finish the book so what i've been doing and this sometimes will happen that you have to like pivot or change your strategy or something what i've been doing is just like writing while as i'm doing the outreach and as i'm doing the interviews and that's just the way that it's gonna work best like some days i'll just do full writing and then some days i'll do like reaching out following up scheduling interviews and um and like that part of things but yeah i'm not really one of those people that writes for like three hours one day and then like does like goes on about with their lives also because i don't have children or anything so i feel like i can just be in a zone for a while and i need like quiet and i need my space and i just need to be like in a specific zone so like when i'm writing i don't usually talk to anybody on the phone for like a couple of days that zone because once i do like you just never know when you're gonna get back into it and as like if you're in that productive writing zone then you kind of want to like stick with it as as long as you can i've switched from my work desk to my dining table sometimes that helps if you've been working all day in the same area it's like good to switch if you like have to continue working after a certain time so yeah i'll be here miami weather is so fickle you'll be it'll be raining here and then when you get like two miles ahead it won't be raining like you see that little piece of blue i don't know if you can see it but
