in this video i'm going to show you how to calculate the hours work based on the check-in and checkout time including night shifts [Music] here is the check-in and checkout time for a week for an employee let's say we want to calculate the hours worked each day and also our total hours worked so let's put in the cell d10 total and now let's first calculate the hours worked on monday the formula will be entered in cell e4 and we're going to put here equal to open the brackets the checkout time which is in d4 minus the check in time which is in c4 multiplied by 24. this gives us a time in hours 6 a.m and that we can now change to let's say number this shows that 9.25 hours were worked on monday and all we need to do is copy this formula and paste it here so we see that in wednesday we get -16 hours because the check-in time is 7 pm and the checkout time is at 3 am so we need to rewrite our formula so let's just delete the formula and now let's put in cell the new formula which is going to be equal to first we are going to check if the checkout is greater than the check in time so if d4 is greater than c4 then we go with a regular formula which is d4 minus c4 else if d4 is less than c4 then we go with d4 minus c4 plus 1 which basically adds 24 hours and the output of this if condition needs to be multiplied by 24 so we get 9.25 on monday eight hours on tuesday and eight hours on wednesday also so now doing the total is really simple all we need to do is put in the formula equal to sum of the range e4 to e8 so i'm just going to format this so let's say if we now change this time from 4 30 pm to 5 30 pm you get 9 hours and then the total is updated i hope that this tutorial was of use to you if you liked it please subscribe to my channel till next time ciao [Music] you
