so today I'm going to show you guys how to write a work order all right this is a typical work order that mechanics fill out when they work on your car all right start filling it out all right first you'll fill out your they'll fill out the name of the person's car since this is my car I'll show you all my own name all right you Al They also write down the telephone number and the date they worked on your car so today's date is the 30th of April all right then they get into your car and they tell they right down the odometer [Music] all right so the odometer reading is 167 473 all right all right I'll write that down cuz doing going to do an oil change on it so I got to write down what the odometer was and then right sticker up for what oneg all right next is the VIN number now all VIN numbers are located right here in the lower windshield it's pretty it's probably going to be a little hard to see but they're all located right there all right V numbers are really long and really hard to fit into that little space all right next you write down they write down the make in model my car is a Volvo S70 all right they also write down your license plate number oh okay all right so since I'm doing an oil change I'm get a circle down here on the bottom of the work order this circle quartz foil all right gu Port of oil all right all right um you also have to figure out what size engine you have um usually in the in other makes and models there's a sticker on the hood usually right about here that says what year and what size engine you have but for Volvos you just actually pull out the owner's manual and they tell you what size engine you have so you just look at the size engine you have and that can roughly tell you how many quartz of oil your car is going to take all right since the oil change is all done and the oil filter has been put on they'll write down how that they only put on one oil filter all right oil filter and the price which here is $9.95 it's quite a bit all right um then down here with the quarts of oil since my car took six quarts or right six quarts and at six quarts it takes six quarts cost $33 which is5 50 a qut all right CLE oil over here copy it over $33 all right shop miscellaneous is usually just $5 all right over here they'll write down LF which stands for Lube oil and filter all right and it usually takes about half an hour so that's 3 Let's actually no takes about 15 minutes so that's $1 17 for labor all right total the parts which is just oil filter it's 995 all right and we'll get a calculator figure out the tax all right to figure out the tax you just add everything up all right since tax is 5.5% you times everything by five by 0.055 all right so tax is right that total then taxes $350 all right 57 so total cost of the oil change is going to be $68 52 all together that's pretty it's a pretty bad price to pay for an all change all right well that's all hope you guys learned something Hing you guys if any of you guys become mechanics you learn all you learn something and you guys can do it a little bit better than I did
