in this video i want to talk to you guys about mobile therapy and specifically about positioning yourself as an expert in a niche so there are blue oceans everywhere and if you don't know what i'm talking about go check out the book blue ocean strategy hey my name is tony maritado if you don't know me i'm a private practice owner and in this video i'm going to talk to you about a blue ocean strategy that i don't see mobile therapists really leveraging right now so one of the easiest ways to look at marketing picking a marketing demographic choosing your avatar is really to look at who has the need who has the urgency and who has the money to pay for the service right it doesn't help me to market a premium level service to a population that doesn't have the money to afford it or doesn't value it or doesn't have a need for it so here's what i'm asking you to think about for a second imagine for just a minute i was a dentist instead of a physical therapist i think you know where i'm going so i'm a dentist i've got a busy dental practice i've got clients lined up i've got dental hygienists admin staff overhead all of that kind of stuff and if you've ever treated a dentist i've treated a couple throughout my career they typically present with neck and shoulder issues they often complain or report that their symptoms are associated with work and positioning and ergonomics and all that kind of stuff um that's for a different conversation the main thing for you to talk about or for us to discuss right now is the fact that dentists have a need they have urgency there's clients waiting for them and they can put an exact dollar amount on the time spent with you and on the return for that investment so in a conventional care model if you're if i'm treating a dentist right now i'm a physical therapist here's my practice if dr jones the dentist has to leave his practice because i don't offer early morning i don't offer late evening so he has to leave his office to come to me for therapy that's probably one reason we don't see a lot of therapy or dentists in the therapy practice he it's gonna take at least 20 minutes to get here probably an hour of treatment because that's what most conventional care is it's not based on the the actual service required it's based on the number of units billed so most of the outpatient therapy clinics and a conventional model are going to do four units so that dentist just lost 20 minutes on the commute a little bit of wait time for an hour of time in the clinic another 20 minutes before they get back basically you lost two hours of dental revenue that could be a thousand bucks each session cost them a thousand bucks plus keep in mind if they're dentists they're still working they're not on medicare they're not on medicaid they probably have a high deductible hsa account something along those lines so they're paying the full allowed amount maybe they at least have a high copay 50 60 70 dollars there is major expense with trying to go get a problem resolved that's conventional care model on the flip side the mobile model you are the therapist who goes to them you are the therapist who chooses to position yourself here's the blue ocean strategy as the expert provider of orthopedic care for dental health professionals you're not treating every joe schmoe who needs services you are the expert in treating dental health professionals that's an important component here i'm going to explain why at the end of this video but so you've established yourself you've put out video content you're on facebook you're on instagram youtube dentists find you and understand that you're the premier provider plus not only that you go to their office so now instead of them losing two hours instead of them shutting down the practice and everybody that's in the office has to wait for them to get back or they come to a conventional care practice after hours lose time with family lose time with friends you know they're already mentally exhausted from a day of dental care you go to them you can do treatment in one of their dental rooms you can even do treatment in one of their dental chairs you could do treatment over their lunch break so we just went from losing a thousand twelve hundred fifteen hundred dollars for a session of physical therapy care to all of a sudden you're there for twenty minutes during the lunch break they eat for five minutes they don't lose a single dental client they don't lose any revenue and they have the feeling the privilege the the esteem of having you the dental how do i how do i say the dental health care professional expert coming to treat them in their office it that's easily 200 250 session for 20 minutes you're not selling time you're selling the outcome you're selling the benefit i just want you to to start to think about things a little differently that dentist is gonna value that experience with you far more on a monetary basis than somebody else who's reluctant to come to therapy in the first place they're going to value that far more than somebody else who's really not losing anything by not getting the problem addressed right and then of course that opens the door once you see dr joe the dentist then dr smith the dentist wants to get you in get you into their practice because now it becomes an ego issue esteem like hey you know now we're battling for your time it is a huge blue ocean if you already do this if you're watching this you're like tony i've been doing that for 20 years let me know tell me in the comments below let's start this conversation because there are so many communities i just think here where i live kind of the middletown monroe westchester area of ohio there are areas within the city that have four or five dental practices all within two or three blocks like that is a dream scenario for somebody who's doing mobile therapy services you can hit them all in a two-hour
