This would be a home-rental tax that would be applied to new home-rentals, based on size, location and the location of the primary residence. According to lee's office, people in such a tax would pay percent of the value of their purchase price and the city would use the funds to make mortgage payments on a portion of the purchase price. Lee would provide million from the city's general fund to subsidize the tax. Lee's office, which has been working to craft the tax plan, would provide more details about how the measure would affect property owners who are not currently subject to the tax and the residents who would experience a tax increase if the measure is adopted.
