CAP Learning Portal Learning Options QuickStart PURPOSE The purpose of this guide is to help you: Understand the purpose of Learning Options. Access Learning Options. Search for learning opportunities. Filter search results. Register for a learning opportunity. FILTER SEARCH RESULTS With the enhanced search capability, you may refine your search results based on an expertise level, credit type, and/or learning approach. The filter options are located on the left. Click a filter checkbox and search results update automatically. ABOUT LEARNING OPTIONS Learning Options is the newly expanded educational opportunities resource for pathologists and lab professionals. With this tool, you can explore a wide range of educational opportunities, including those offered by the College. Use Learning Options to search for and then access audio materials, eLearning, live courses, on-the-job activities, readings, slide libraries, and webinars. LOG IN TO THE CAP WEBSITE 1. 2. Go to http://www.cap.org. Type your individual User ID and Password. NOTE: If you do not know whether you have a CAP Web account, or do not remember your User ID and Password, click on the Forgot your user ID or password? link. Enter the requested security information, or enter your last name and e-mail address so that the system can send you a temporary ID and password. If you do not have a CAP Web account, click Create an Account. Complete and submit the request form. 3. Click the Login button. ACCESS LEARNING OPTIONS 1. 2. From the CAP website, click the Learning Portal tab on the CAP Home page. Hover your mouse over the Browse Learning Options panel and when the panel expands click Launch. -ORClick Launch to open the Learning Portal. 3. Click the Learning Options tab. 2. Click the Intermediate checkbox. Click the eLearning checkbox Search results update accordingly. PERFORM A KEYWORD SEARCH If you know the title of a learning option, you may search by entering all or part of its title in the Search box. Or you may enter a keyword or phrase. 1. Click in the Search box. 2. Type the keyword or phrase. 3. Click Go. 4. Search Results display on the right. Page 1 of 2 CAP Learning Portal Learning Options QuickStart USE THE COMPETENCY FILTER You may also filter search results by competency to more effectively target your learning needs. The competency filter also can be used to start a search. 1. Click Add Filter. .REGISTER FOR A LEARNING OPTION To access or register for a learning option: 1. From your search results, click the learning option title. 2. Click the Go button on the right panel. 3. If the learning option is a book, journal article or external course, a new window opens the website on which you may access the resource. 4. If the learning option is a CAP course, a new window opens the CAP’s Learning Management System (LMS). Click the Register button. Note: If you are already registered, a Start button displays. 5. 2. 3. 4. From the dropdown menu that displays, locate the MOC Category and the associated competency that you would like to search by. Click on the competency to select it. The competency displays on the left and search results display on the right. Read the Registration Information and complete the registration process according to whether the activity has a fee and/or validation associated with it. NO FEE Click the Submit button. FEE a. b. c. Click the Purchase button. Select to pay using a credit card. Enter your credit card details and then click the Purchase button. From the dropdown menu that displays, click the area you want to search by. The area displays on the left and the search results display on the right. Repeat these steps to add competencies and competency areas. SORT SEARCH RESULTS You may also sort your search results by clicking a Sort By option located under the filters. a. b. 9. Click the Submit or Purchase button. Enter the Kit and CAP numbers associated with the activity and then click the Submit button. You may click Start to begin taking the course, or you may click Close to close the LMS window and return to the Learning Options. Note: The learning option title will be on your Training Schedule in the Current registrations view. EXPLORE LEARNING OPTIONS INFORMATION Standard information about each learning option is displayed in search results, including the learning option title, competency, learning approach, and description. Click on the learning option title to display more information including an expanded course description, pricing, credits, intended audience, and activity objectives.
