in the volunteer guide we can just scroll back all scroll through all these things that we've already covered until we reach track at track B so you should have already entered your information but if you haven't please go ahead and do that again you just have to do that one time but that was covered in the track a video so really the essence of this this track is to search for new food resources we don't already have information on and then once you've found those sites to input them into our air sight list so volunteers can begin calling and make sure the list is up-to-date if you're not sure where to start you can definitely just use traditional web searches check out community groups and boards or social media channels please do note though we do have a separate team of volunteers focusing exclusively on New York City so please do try to avoid looking into any New York City sites so we can avoid duplicating work so if you're still not sure where to start a lot of volunteers will maybe check out resources in their neighborhood or their state or perhaps they have family or friends looking at another state that they'd like to support the efforts there you can also check out what volunteers are doing on slack again those those channels for each region of the US where you can talk to other volunteers and collaborate on what they're doing we also have a map of sites that we already have on our list and just a caveat here this is not updated in real-time or daily it's updated about twice a week so when you're looking at it it may not be the most up-to-date information but sometimes it is a nice visual for seeing what areas we haven't really focused on yet so you can see these definitely large regions here that we don't have volunteers looking into quite yet and if you are curious you can zoom in this map a little bit and check out the sites where you have and I'll have the information in there and if you're still stuck of course reach out to us by email or slack and we can definitely help you out with that so once you've found a site first you want to make sure we don't already have the site in our air table list so I'm going to pretend that I found a site called Sara's food pantry so first I just want to use the search function over here and just do a quick search for Sara's food pantry okay I'm not seeing that it looks like there's Sara's soup kitchen which is similar but we don't already have Sara's food pantry in our list so that's great that means that I can proceed with collecting details so what you first want to do is you want to add the site score information by clicking on this form here and this is really just information you've collected by their website so whatever they have publicly available online so I know it's called Sara's food pantry it was added by me and when you get here to the primary parent or question this can be a little confusing but essentially some food pantries or soup kitchens are actually operated or coordinated by another organization so a lot of times this will happen with food banks so I'll just show you an example real quick South Dakota food pantry so at first if you came to the site if you're researching areas in South Dakota you might think that VSOP Dakota is the site name and then you'd be looking for the address and to put into that form the first you definitely want to make sure that this is a food site and not a parent organization and you can easily figure that out by hopefully they have something like our programs or they have a list of several different sites are operating so I can see here that feeding South Dakota is actually a parent organization and they operate a separate bank food pantry mobile food pantry and a few child hunger programs here so I would actually input feeding South Dakota as the parent organization and then I would have to click into the separate food banks and food pantries and then I could collect their contact information here so that would be a separate list so let's see so I can definitely if I know that there is a parent organization I can search for it and I happen to know from my web search that the Sara's food pantry is operated by the Sara super food bank so I can do that if you do need to add a new parent organization you can do so by just clicking this link here and it will give you a new form for adding a new parent organization and that's when you go in here so I would put Sara super food bank add it by me I would mark it's a food bank and then fill out any other information I'm able to gather online definitely the contact information and their address so that can definitely be a little bit confusing if you want to just see that right now but different scenes the parent organization and food banks if you just go down to the best practices list you can see that here that parent organization is defined with some examples as well as food sites and if you're unsure if the location is a site or a parent organization definitely just input it as a food site making sure you only list one address so if you see that there are multiple addresses that's a good indication that the parent organization but if you're unsure just make sure you only list one address it helps keep our information clean and also it's just more useful to folks who are trying to go to these different locations okay so I don't need to create a new food bank because I already know that it's Sarah super food bank it's okay just get this question if you're not sure if it's stocked by other other organizations here and if you're unsure confuse that question you can definitely just skip that so this is a food pantry this site subtype would be if the food pantry was having to be located at a school so a lot of meal sites located at schools or colleges also a lot of churches or other places of worship might also be running a food pantry or soup kitchen so that's where you'd want to select that so I'm you to pretend that sarah's food pantry is operated out of public college and then you would go ahead and just put the address that you're able to find online and the rest of the information here so I'm just going to quickly fill out just some quick information just as an example good W okay great so I found the food site and again here's more of an explanation about the parent organization that you can read through and then once I do that then I can go back to the instructions from track a I can go to the site list search for the site I added so here's the site list cancer as I probably to refresh the page first make sure that data is loaded in okay s American search for Sara's okay so I see Sara's food pantry serious soup kitchen was the old one so then I can just go ahead using the instructions
