But surveys of self-published authors have shown that Amazon’s share of self-published eBook sales is much higher – more like 80-85%. Whether the true figure is 60% or as high as 85%, Amazon is the biggest market by a long way, and KDP makes the process of self publishing on Kindle relatively easy. The simplest way to create a pdf file is to print one out (print to file). The latest operating systems and some writing/publishing programs usually have a pdf printer available. The second easiest way is to export to one using the features within the application you are using. Most programs now have this feature, so it’s a breeze. If you don’t have a program with this feature built in or your operating system didn’t come with a pdf printer, then you have to use a pdf printing program. There are a lot of programs you can download but I’m a fan of opensource and my favorite is Ghostscript.
