How can I get Wi-Fi for free at a hotel in a major western city that wants to charge me $25 a day to use it? What should my reac
Forget psychology - here’s the computer science approach. This is a method for extending your free Wi-Fi period beyond the allowed amount. If you have a Mac:Open Terminal and type in:sudo ifconfig en1 lladdr 00:aa:bb:cc:dd:ee Hit Enter and type your password. Reconnect to the hotel Wi-Fi and you’ll be seen as a new device, with a brand new free Wi-Fi period. Change the number separated by colons to anything between 00 and ff to create new ‘identities’ on the hotel Wi-Fi system, as often as you like. Voilà!On Windows (depending on if your network card allows it):Open Network and Sharing CenterRight click ‘Change adapter settings’Right click on your Wi-Fi card and click ‘Properties’Click ‘Configure’Head to ‘Advanced’Scroll down to ‘Locally Administered Address’, select ‘Value’ and make up twelve random hexadecimal numbers from 0 to f (e.g. 003d31aa0b1c)Boom!How does this work?On startup, the OS is loading your MAC (media access control) address from the Wi-Fi card (interface ‘en1’ on a Mac or en0 for Ethernet) and stores this in memory (RAM). From there, we can change the value dynamically for as long as the computer is on. Once off, you’ll go back to your old MAC address. On a Mac/Unix, you can check your MAC address (before and after) in Terminal by typing:sudo ifconfig en1 |grep ether Happy hacking.BTW: I have no affiliation to any hotel or Wi-Fi gateway.

Why don't print shops edit signs for their customers for correct spelling and punctuation? Is this an industry standard? Do they
I can only speak for the places I've worked, where there were a couple of possible reasons that incorrect grammar might make it to print:The most obvious possibility is that no one notices it. It's certainly possible, especially on pieces with large amounts of copy or with customers who didn't employ proofreaders on their end, for a mistake to go unnoticed by either the client or anyone at the shop. Why don't printers read the copy more closely? As Claire J. Vannette mentions, print shops are wary of offering proofreading services since it opens them up to liability if a mistake does get through. It's safer economically for printers to issue disclaimers making customers aware that they are responsible for the content of their artwork. All of the proofs we sent to customers for their approval included a big warning telling them to check the proof for spelling, grammar and punctuation.Usually, however, mistakes in the copy provided by the client were noticed by the printing staff. When we found a problem in a customer's provided copy, we would usually bring it to their attention and ask what they'd like us to do about it. One of the trickiest parts of my job was finding ways to phrase these questions that didn't insult the customer's intelligence. Sometimes they'd realize they had made a mistake and have us correct it, sometimes they'd just trust us to do what we said was best, sometimes they'd act confused or offended and tell us to leave things as they were provided. In all cases, customers had to sign off on a proof of the exact copy to be printed, so there were no surprises when the piece was finished, and so that we couldn't be held accountable when the customer's buddy asked him why his sign read, "Free Apple's."I definitely printed a lot of signs with what I knew was misused punctuation that the customer had been made aware of and had told us to print anyway.

Who is history's greatest traitor and why?
This motherfxxxerLadies and gentlemen, the person you are seeing is Qin Hui, a minister of the Southern Sung Dynasty.Back in 1127, nomads known as the Jurchens invaded the Northern Song Dynasty, ransacking the capital and abducting the emperor. However, some Song nobles managed to escape to the South, starting the Southern Song Dynasty. There was a general named Yue Fei, who seeked to defeat the Jurchens, rescue the former emperor who was still in captivity, and retake the former Song territory north of the Chang Jiang.Yue Fei was a genius. He developed versatile tactics that always crushed the enemy. Once when the Jurchens deployed ironclad cavalry connected with chains, Yue Fei ordered his troops to take long axes and knives. The result was, the Song troops hacked away at the legs of the mobility lacking Jurchen cavalry, which then fell like dominoes. The force of Yue Fei's army was so overpowering, that the Jurchens said,“撼山易,撼岳家軍難。”If you don't know Chinese, it roughly translates to:If shaking the mountains is possible, to shake Yue Fei's army is truly impossible. However, here comes Qin the Traitor.Qin, being the minister, somehow managed to convince the emperor, Emperor Gao Zong of Song, to pull back Yue Fei's army. Emperor Gao Zong was a chicken who was hoping for a swift peace treaty, and if Yue Fei managed to bring back the former emperor - his throne would be disputed. So he gladly agreed. When Yue Fei returned, he was secretly poisoned and murdered (likely with the permission of the emperor). Qin then claimed Yue Fei was guilty of treason, which was obviously bullsxxt. Of course, the emperor also had his part in the whole thing for being a coward, some people have even suggested that he himself was the one behind. ( But this hasn't been 100% confirmed)Lots of people doubted the verdict and questioned Qin:“What crime has Yue Fei really committed?”Obviously those people didn't buy the “treason” idea.Qin couldn't think of a good excuse, so he said:“此事莫須有。”It translates to, “Perhaps he has committed a crime of treason, but I'm not that sure.”So, you can see how traitorous he was.Years later, Yue Fei was exonerated, he had a tomb built for him, along with a temple, and is remembered as a national hero nowadays. What about Qin?Oh yeah, he didn't receive a proper punishment when he was alive, so people later erected two statues of him and his wife, who allegedly participated in the plot to kill Yue Fei, for people to throw flifth at.A sign nearby says:The green hill is fortunate to be the burial ground of a loyal general, but the iron was innocent to be cast into the statues of traitors

"Try it Free" or "Sign-up for Free": Which call to action button would appeal more to the audience?
"Try it free" is a bit of a red flag for me. That usually means that whatever I'm trying is only something temporary, and after I sign up I'll find out that after a certain amount of time, whatever the product or service is will stop working, or I will be charged for it. For most things, there are alternatives out there, so I can either find one that's free, or find one that is just as good or better and up front about it's pricing. I like "Sign-up" for free a lot better, because I can sign up for something without being committed to it. Even if I never use it again, there's no harm in signing up. It's better to have it and not need it. And if it turns out to be good or useful, then I keep using it. The only exception would be if signing up involves some sort of (usually hidden) cost. If it's the same concept as "try it" only labeled differently, then it's just as bad.

Can local business legally prohibit you from carrying your lawfully possessed weapon? If so how can we encourage them not to?
In Texas there are signs with very specific wording and size to prohibit concealed carry and another similar one for open carry. Two signs required to ban all guns. It’s a private property thing. The business owner has the private property right to dictate if people can carry guns into their stores.Locally there are a few of the no-open-carry signs (30.07), but I see none of the no-concealed-carry (30.06) signs. Large theaters and groceries tend to post the 30.07 - they fear patrons will be terrified of an open carry. Open carry is so rare anyway, it’s pretty much moot anyway.Starting Sept 1 some new laws go into effect. Churches and places of worship will now have to post the 30.06 and/or 30.07. After the Sutherland Springs shooting, it became pretty obvious gun free churches were no more protected from guns than were gun-free schools. Also if you happen to miss the sign, the new law makes it a trespass offense only if you don’t leave upon being notified of the signs. It used to be walking past the sign,if properly worded and placed, was a trespass. Now it’ll be only if you’re reminded and don’t leave. As to encouraging them not to, that’s pretty much been resolved. I have seen a total of ZERO stores prohibiting concealed carry in this area. Only big groceries and theaters ban open carry. It will remain to be seen how the churches come down. I know the local Baptist pastor wants no guns, but what the congregation says about it will mean a lot. For the few stores that still ban concealed carry (Cheesecake Factory, last I saw) we just refuse to go in. When my grandson graduated high school a couple of years ago they all picked Cheesecake Factory - we had a reservation for 8 people. I called to confirm they still posted the 30.06 no CC sign, they said yes, I cancelled the reservation. So they knew exactly why I cancelled. I vote with my wallet. Grandson was unaware of the restriction, and fully supported the decision. We went next door and had Italian. You can also hand out one of these to the management:Ones we have in Texas have wording on the back to the effect:“With a License to Carry, you know the holder is not a felon, has no class A or B misdemeanors, is not a fugitive, has no restraining orders, is not a drunk or an addict, or mentally ill. What do you know about your other customers?”Considering LTC holders are roughly 6 times LESS likely to be convicted of crime than even licensed peace [edit] In Texas the term for a licensed officer of the law is “peace officer”. Elsewhere in the world perhaps it is “police officer”. My answer is limited to Texas. With respect to Mr Kwan’s suggestion to change “peace” to “police”, I must decline his suggestion. [\edit] officers, it’s no wonder there is no worry about LTC holders.
