How do I start a career in Salesforce and what prerequisites should a person have to pursue a career in this field?
It is a vast ecosystem, there are no real prerequisite, beeing technical +curious or beeing business + client driven are good combos to start; sadly the ability to look like corporate makes a huge difference when working with Salesforce, not a millenial stuff at all. I have more than 2 years of experience in Salesforce. I came on it as a developper, it rewarded me with some heavy transversal use cases, functionnal skills and more understanding of business and companies in general. Recently I even got positionned for a crm architect opportunity so things go fast as you can see :).The easy way starting a carreer is doing trailheads and starting to position yourself as a junior dev or business analyst. It is mandatory starting by the lower level administration trailheads even if you’re a dev to understand how the thing works and its philosophy. If nothing bites, you need to own certifications, any certification will do it: adm is the easiest, I know someone who’s pretty bad at salesforce and got the developper one really early from academical learning and test training. It costs 200$ for the first go and a bit less afterward if you failed :). With a certification you’ll get a job very easily. I do not own Salesforce certification as I’ll never be a pure player by choice and have some experience now anyway.However working on Salesforce includes many difficulties whatever your role is and requires efforts. If you are a developper and want to transition, keep in mind that Salesforce as its share of complexities and can be more intricate than most modern technologies can throw at you. Getting into Salesforce is a double edged sword, even if it netted me decent salaries, I sometimes regret it as I never had pleasant experiences in this particular domain :).
