My son is very shy and he was even more so when he was younger. Boy in fear asked teacher to repeat, Teacher said loudly in irritated voice- How could you score so high in end semester exams?Boy - Mam I scored highest in midterm too , when you have rechecked my sheet to show class that I might have cheated or you might be made mistake in calculation  Teacher  in louder and angered mode - But you never understood anything in class and could not answer any questionBoy - Mam, I am partially deaf.           And for those who cannot study from teachers, they have books.          He gathered some courage and told - If anyone cannot answer that does not mean he does not know the answer. He might be unable to hear itBoy passed from college, went to some awesome schools afterwards, did a satisfying cool high tech job and has wonderful friends. He also bought a workable ear machine initially from his masters scholarship and later on bought imported hearing aid with his first salary. He now believes , world is very nice place , he just need to be at right place and among right peopleWell, that boy is meEdit 1: I don't hold any grudges against that teacher. I strongly believe two ideas are must to remain happy :1.Forgiveness2.AcceptanceActually from that incident, I learnt that I am responsible for all that humiliation by being introvert and not telling her. From then on wards, I started telling professors about my problem. And Life has become much better afterwards. I owe her in sense that she made me realize few things about myself which paved path for happy life.Edit 2: I was asked how I can hear on phone? I can hear on phone but not in class since i am partially deaf and phone is very close to ear while talking.Think of hearing loss as short nearsightedness, if you wear glasses that does not mean you are blind, you cannot see the board but can see person next to you.The only difference is glasses can come at Rs 200 but a modest hearing aid comes at least Rs 20,000 and good one at Rs 1Lakh. Bad hearing aid further destroys ear. I face issues when people talk from distance especially in closed room. It is simple friss law of physics where signal power is inversely proportional to square of distance.
