child let's begin right now you're looking at a bunkhouse this is where you will be staying if you got this great job we were standing one of these places like this in alaska right now i make a bill called over last good and you would be staying and up a city like this just is called a bunkhouse you don't have to pay rent but they do they do take out a small portion of your paycheck i think i don't know different companies don't quote me on this but different companies take out a different amount and most companies give you the money back like ten or fifteen dollars a day out of your paycheck that's some kind of fee they just do that so they can keep you not keep you but so you'll stay until the end or you'll keep each other in if you leave early or quick then they take out a lot more money but they just take up that little percentage and then at the end of the season to give you like a bonus check and they give you most of that money back so they'll take like i think if you work over eight hours they'll take like ten to fifteen bucks 20 bucks and then they'll give you most of their back like 15 of that back when the season is over also you can eat for free and you get three meals sometimes even four mills because of the shifts they work you sometime in 16-hour shifts and eight hour shifts so some people can't make certain mill time so they have four mills breakfast lunch dinner and midnight dinner and i'm just saying you look at the facility i walk around a little bit more now and what else can I say the job is a job as a seafood processor I know everybody wanted to hear that it really would take my job is it's a job it's a seafood processor and it's a seasonal work so you can work up there for like four months five months three months two months whatever whatever your title whatever your contract entitles and basically I'm across the street from a seafood processing plant and cadeau Velasquez so I'm just letting you see it so I'm walking around and I'm talking with you and like I said before this way you'll be staying in a bunkhouse similar to this or like this I wish I could go inside to give you some footage but I'm not allowed to so I'm just going to let you see the outside of it and you'll be housed there with maybe six people in a room five people room eight people sometime 12 sometime only two people in the room it depends on the facility and it depends on their personnel how many people they have working at the facility at a time so I'm just walking and let you see the facility a little bit you understand what's going on and also another thing I wanted to tell you that they will fly you up here some companies somebody seafood processor companies will fly you up here from wherever you're from if not they will fly you from Seattle Washington Seattle Washington it's like a big big big big hub big headquarter for seafood processing companies that's a very very big hub for seafood processing company and you would know all this when you call the different company or you put an application with a seafood processing company and they would let you know what they would do for you what they won't do for you but most companies will fly you from your hometown New York California wherever you're from and fly you up here now the most important thing is for you to complete the season because you usually have to sign a contract so you need to complete the season once you complete the season everything is okay because if not that'll take money from your paycheck for flying you out here so the job is based on completing the season so you need to complete the season I'm just letting you see the outside of it I know it ain't too much to look at but I'm sure most people have never saw a seafood processing company so I'm just letting you see it some people if I don't even know what I'm talking about far as a seafood processing company but they will pay for your expenses why you up here why you up here working like I said before a place to stay free fool some of them fly you from your your hometown someone will fly you from your hometown and other ones will fly you from Seattle Washington said I mean you have to make it to Seattle Washington and from there there will take you to your destination or place of work in Alaska and also you make good money at these different companies and it's the same thing for a a processing boat it's the same type of process so there's some information that I didn't know growing up that I want to pass on to like college students people that's in between jobs they can come up for Laska work for seafood processing company make good money stay in a place like this facility that you're looking at right now and be here for a couple of months at a time I even the longest I've known somebody to be working the process coming together I've met I met a lady in Kodiak Alaska and she said she stayed in the bunkhouse for nearly two years and she worked I guess a bee season or a B and C season and she did it twice so she end up standing one of these for like two years it's made a ton of money so this is some information I was trying to pass on to you once
