upload new videos every single week so today we are going to be talking about unclaimed money or also known as unclaimed property so I'm pretty sure a lot of you've heard the term and me not quite sure what it is well basically what it is it's clients money or property or other assets the rightful owner was unable to be located and those funds and that property is typically turned over to the government after it's also after a specific period of time has passed okay so what we're going to be talking about today is how to find out if you have any unclean moon out there or any property and how to search for employment okay so I know there's a lot of companies and like services out there offering a detective service let let me tell you you don't have to pay company to find this you know to find out if you have any unclaimed money and I'm going to show you how to do that today hey guys so not further ado let's go ahead and get started so these are four tips to help you find the unclaimed money you want to start try and play money or property in states where you have lived aware of them okay if you suspect that one who loved ones may have left a life insurance policy to you or or something like that you may want to also search the state that they live in if it was a different from where you have resided okay all right tip number two you wanna check run and finds from bank failures unclaimed deposits from credit union closures or bank closures okay so like that you move and you had an account at your local bank and move somewhere else that doesn't you know that mate doesn't have a presence in so you decide to pull up your account you know or you just don't even closure you just totally forgot about that account right so that money is gonna lost they will try to contact you and if they're not able to they will turn that money over to your State Treasury all right so on tip number three search for unclaimed or undelivered tax refunds or refund from fha-insured mortgage check for unclaimed back wages pension money or life insurance funds so you know using for tips so there is a government website I'll leave a link to it in the description box below it's us a good slash unclean - money and this website is a one-stop shop that's gonna have all the loops that you're gonna need to search for unclaimed money in your state from your employer some insurance money from the VA and from BIOX okay so let's just quickly do a high-level high-level overview of the website so once you click on the link you'll know where to go okay so if you're gonna sell your own home state you can do that by search any more state directly so saying you only ever lived in Wednesday so I mean you really don't need to search multiple the state affects the case unless you have some reason to search you know some of the other states so what you're gonna do is you're gonna go to this first link here it says States unclaimed property office you're going to click that it'll open up a link this is also a government website and it will allow you it'll show you the different states it'll say conduct your research you click on that and then it'll show all the different states okay and then you would click on your state I live in Florida so I'm just gonna click in Florida but it'll show you your State Treasury office and I'll take you directly to your state on your state search so you can search they're going to show you how to claim it and everything okay so I will walk you guys through the actual search process in the claiming process in just a moment but let's go right back over here to the main site say you've lived in multiple states like myself I've lived in multiple states and I don't you know say you don't feel like searching each state individually you can they do have a website called missing money.com where you can search multiple states at once and the missing mini dot-com website does aggregate all that I need to leave it for you so you can do one simple search and it will bring up the results the only downfall about that site is it doesn't include all 50 states so let's go ahead and click on it and take a look so once again this site is missing money calm and this is a government it's it's an official site okay so you click on the states and I also want to quickly mention you can type in Google I'm playing money in your state but if you're not comfortable doing that because they are a lot of scam you guys out there come to this link in the description box below and you will be taken to the official site okay so you can see here the states in the province in Canada that are covered so if your if your if your state is highlighted here that means that you can search on missing money calm and it will cover my database so say I was lived in Florida Texas and New York um it'll search all it'll search all these highlighted please it's for me at one time so I'll demonstrate that for you guys real quick and if you scroll down here it'll have the contact information your address phone number email address for each of the Treasury office side of the state here and also one everything I want to point out really quickly and even if your state isn't highlighting it like Georgia is not highlighted if you click on it it will still take you directly to the state of Georgia's army property website okay so even if your state isn't covered you can just it'll take you straight there okay all right so let's go back to the main government site you'll see a drop of unpaid wages okay in order to search for money from your employers so this is on the Department of Labor's website you can search their database now they hold unpaid wages for employees for up to three years after that three-year mark has passed those unpaid wages are then forwarded on to your state treasurer's office or your Department of Revenue however your state doesn't now the unpaid wages from the Department of Labor is if your if your employer brought some type of labor laws or something like that so if you're you know if they book some type of labor large I'll figure that and they owe you money for that then it should be lifted in here if it was within the three previous years okay so as you can see I clicked on you and you're going to start by entering your employer name here and then it will bring up possible employers and then from that page it will have a place for you to enter your your name for the search that's how you do the own Department of Labor now also a pensions from former employers now I'm not going to click on every single one of these but I just want to give you an idea to show you how easy it is to do this so if you have unclaimed pensions for companies that either went out of business or they ended their defined pension plan you would search here now I know a good friend of mine that did this search and they receive their was like almost fifty thousand dollars left in the old 401k from one of their previous employers or I don't know if it was a 401k or pitch it was some type of a retirement plan and they had almost $50,000 that they just got back last year from doing this simple search so it's definitely worth it okay now um VA this is the database for VA Reich insurance funds now if you feel like you may be owed I need to current from current or former policyholder or if you're one of their beneficiaries you can definitely search here and see if there's a life insurance or anything that's owed to you okay FHA insurance refunds if you had fha-insured mortgage you may be eligible for a refund and this is the database that you search in order to see if you're old a refund um you'll need your FHA case number in order to search the house baby money from tax refunds if you were old I our tax refund and you did not receive that money for either reason you moved it was been delivered or you claim it then there is and I'll link here for you to be able to contact the IRS to see if you have you know a tax refund that's out there for you and I want you guys to know there's over 40 billion dollars worth of unclaimed property and unclaimed money that's sitting out there you guys so it doesn't hurt to check because like I checked I didn't think I had anything out there and I had I actually had three money items sitting out there that I didn't know about like I totally forgot about and these are some things that were from a long time like a really long time ago so like I didn't even remember so it's definitely worth it - it's definitely worth it to search the you know do a few minutes search you may you know get some money you know I can't I and I did it like I said I have three items out there and my total came back to like 350 dollars with good money that was just sitting there so it's definitely worth doing search okay so search for money from making an investment bank failures credit union Valor failures security Exchange Commission cases those are where you type like your Ponzi schemes or or like you invested in type of money and the company a person owes the investor which is you money I will place the savings bond so like if you had a paper savings farm that was lost stolen or destroyed you can click this link here to get it replaced um you know even though they don't they they don't issue paper savings bonds anymore unless you keep your savings funds through your tax refund okay and then lastly but not least there's international unclaimed money so US Nationals can find when we owe to this inform the search where you can search multiple states at one time you click on search and then as you can see here I was like playing around there I just typed in any random name which Maria Thompson and I'm just gonna leave this date one okay so I'm gonna show you guys how this works so it's gonna take a minute for it to load because it's going to bring up multiple people cuz it's checking multiple state ok so you see here it's got Maria Johnson right and these are all the results because it's gonna bring up similar meaning so like if it has a partial name that similar like Mary Anne has Maria it's gonna bring Maya has all the states it's gonna tell you the last known address that's the address that they tried to contact you ad and it's gonna say who's reported by so it's gonna this is the company that owes you the money okay as you can see some of them were filled in some of them are not they're gonna have the amount owed you all for $100 I'm giving $400 I've also seen where it says over fifty dollars less than fifty dollars okay so I'm gonna go ahead and put in Charlotte North Carolina and then I'm going to show you how it'll take you over to that site okay all right so chat we've come in these are the matches from Louie and Johnson and Charlie it looks like I'm just going to click on the first one and you click clean and then it's going to ask you some dissolution because once you file your claim you're gonna need to be able to prove your identity so when I file my claim I did mine through the state of Florida and all I had it simply Dean was provide a copy of my driver's license and excise claim form that was like pre filled out on the website I just had it printed out provide my signature and send it in the copy of my driver's license fairly easy process okay um you know each state may differ a little bit but it should be along the same line okay so these are the questions that they ask you is this your name do you live or have you looked at the address listed do you have or do you or have you lived in a state holding a property have you conducted business but the company would fit in the reported file column now if you answer yes to all those questions then that is likely a match to you so you click yes I can claim then it will redirect you to the state Treasuries website and from there it's going to ask you to search again so you simply enter the information again and click search and then follow the steps and this is what the search page search results will look like in as you can see here sometimes it does tell you the exact amount that's owed to you and gives you a little bit more detailed information okay and so this is what the results look like and then you just select whatever one applies to you and you click clean now every picture whose website or the Department of Revenue's website you're not going to be exactly like this but this gives you a general idea of how simple it is to go through the process and it should be very similar okay so here we'll ask you to select a relationship today we were claiming that first one for $15 in this example and then you'll go ahead and proceed to file a claim okay and then it'll bring up the next form and usually here you into your you know identifying information so she's may name your address or social security number and things of that nature and so I urge you
