Industry sign banking new york job offer secure

hi guys welcome back to my channel if you don't know who I am my name is a lambda and I'm currently a family economic history student at the London School of Economics and this channel is mainly dedicated to students undergraduates recent graduates and we cannot touch on career and lifestyles and things of that nature so today's video is all about how you can get an internship or work in a field that you have no experience in and I'm going to be using my recent corporate law experience to explain this and how I've got about getting work in industries that I'm not usually in one other like main advice that I would give to everyone who is starting uni or even before uni is to experience every single field that is out there even if you're dead set on wanting to be a lawyer you should go out and see what Investment Banking is like see what asset management is might see what working in the government is like because this is your only chance to do that like once you're leaving you enter a job full time you don't have the opportunity to spend one week here two weeks there three weeks there four weeks there ten weeks there you don't have that opportunity and so my experience is very very very vast and I am gonna continue that all the way up until I enter into my full-time role because that is what uni is all about so let's get into the video so on that note I wanted to try some new industries this year and one were the ones I wanted to try was law the reason being is I read law off quite quickly off my list in like year 12 and but they do do a lot of they have a lot of opportunity for final year students so I decided I want to do law I want to do some vacation skis this yeah I want to see what is about what do they actually do is I think don't know but for some reason I am sure that I don't want to do law by I don't even know what they do or I think that I would advice for anyone who decides to go into an industry that you have no experience in is to attend fairs that is like the easiest way to meet the firm's that is the easiest way to meet people who are interested in those same industries and it does typically you're not gonna get rejected for applying to a fair I hope so that is the number one thing I will tell you to do to just scope out like what kind of firms are in there what sort of companies are there what are the people like and so that's what I did I attended LSE lawfare and i attended like two LSE loafers and I just picked up different firms are just for speaking to them I expected them about my situation and got their advice on what should I do if I want to applies the law and I don't have any experience so that is something I would really really advise get there speak to HR figure out how you can make a competitive application even though you don't have any experience and the best places you can get that information from is the firms themselves so fairs are the best way to go if you're entering into an industry that you have no experience with that's the place that's the best place to start that good thing that I would advise you to do in this one is that it takes a little bit more than attending affair is to try and attend an open day usually these also aren't as competitive as the actual internships and stuff and it's the best way to get a comprehensive understanding of the industry that you are applying to because usually with open days it's always very general because they know that it's typically for people who don't know the firm or the industry as much so it's very very general and so I really realized that and usually they're quite frequent especially if you're starting this at the start of an academic year they usually do open is quite frequently all the way up until like 2:00 - like opera - like though for the whole year there's usually open days and go for different firms any firm that you're interested in so for me I decided to apply for an open day for Clifford chance now there are Benes are quite competitive because you actually have to do a test you have to do the Watson glazier test to get in these are known to be quite difficult I actually didn't find it quite difficult because I did a course in my second year called logic and in the philosophy department and it's very very similar sort of what's included test so I remember when I was approaching it I had spoken to some students who who do or who do law internships and then when I oh my god it's so hard so hard so hard so I approached it like well like well this is gonna be hired I'm probably gonna fail anyways but I ended up finishing it I had like five minutes to spare and so yeah open days are great way to go after you've attended the open days and after you've attended the LSE fairs you now have a script to improve your CV and add a relevant experience section to your to the top of your work experience section yeah so you might think ah well how can I put an affair and just an open day and that's relevant experience where you've shown that you're interested in in in the field right so that's enough so what I did was I added a little it was like three lines on my CV at the top of my work as princess said relevant experience it said and I see law fair and clicker chance open day and that was it that was my relevant experience and he does count and it really doesn't make a difference because it shows that even though you previously may not have been interested in here ever since you have decided to be interested in that field you'd be making you have been making and taking active steps to actually learn about it so that was all I had in my relevant experience section for noir and then it's up to you guys whether you want to attend that the rest of your CV to specifically meet that industry so for example let's say if one of your Investment Banking experiences let's say you were in investment and you want to go to law and then one of your internship let's say you worked with the legal team or you had to laser the legal team what the compliance team or whatever you might want to take out I don't know spent time on the trading floor on honey 1 million pound trade deal and then instead put in worked liaised with the legal team something like that you know just so it's more relevant but for me Annie we really do much of that because I feel like and my banking experience is kind of quite related to corporate law anyways ok this is something that I've always admired and that is to have a strategy if you're a plot if you're applying for a Ford you don't have experience in you can't just put first one that you see though you need to have a strategy so for me I spoke to my friends who did door and I asked them like how many applications do you typically make right because for each industry depending on how difficult it is um you know people make different amounts of applications like if you're planning for the IBD division of an investment bank you might want to make at least at least ten applications because it's very competitive and so she told me that it typically would make it recommended to make six applications for trading contracts and I was like okay what she's made to sit up listen to her training contracts but she's already had a winery a wide range of legal experiences I have no legal experiences so I'm gonna do ten applications five for spring vacation ski scheme and five for summer vacation scheme because the reason why I didn't apply to many winters I was really late this way I made a decision in like October and if you go know me one of the number one things I always say is to apply early and I knew that I was applying I was even late I was like in the middle of the cycle and for me I was like now I'm not gonna waste my time and but I applied to one winter one just to like get experience of the application process so if you're applying to invest banking you have no investment banking experience then you might want to apply to a mixture of for an office and back office or you might want to if you just want to apply to banking and finance in general then you might want to ply to some investment banks but also the big four just mix it up but you do need to have a strategy especially if you're going into a field and you have no experience in that field so the fifth thing is to expect objection there isn't that much to say on this point but even for those of us who have even if I was to now go and let's say I was applying for analyst roles at credit Swiss and Morgan Stanley Goldman Sachs and Citibank and I applied for analyst robin investment banking division I'm still gonna expect rejection a 6-point which is following on from that is to learn quickly especially especially especially from your rejection so I'll give you example from my corporate law experience so I had a scattering Assessment Center I've made it through the process and I had I got to the Assessment Center and that whole day was it o-o but when I say lol yeah it wasn't last but it was also loads of big letters for me it was just another open day but a more practical open day so first of all when I got to the partner interview I had prepared for like why I'm why I was decided to apply for law with investment banking experience but I didn't I didn't prepare for the rest of the stuff in my CV like why I was gonna choose law over Boston Consulting Group's that's what one of the guys asked me and he had previously come from BCG and he was not a scab and so he was really like pressing me on this and I'm not giving him like this random excuse that I came up with and he was like but those are the same things that you would find in a law firm and I was like crap so I kind of folded it there because I was like whoa and I just did prepare keep all were different the people who were applying with differently you mercy is that a students representing were different the question they arts with different the written sounds were different and everything was just a learning experience I took the notes even during my interview my partner interview when the guy was saying well you know I came from BCG and this is why I think it's similar to know that I was writing it down during the interview I was writing on everything he was saying and I basically used that for the next day when I had my NYX and Assessment Center interview and literally it went so so so well and I got the offer for that one obviously I didn't get the office cabin because it was just um but essentially I think that is the Kreutz of applying to a new industry is why I'm trying to get gain as many or as much relevant experience as you can but that can literally just be going to the North fairs speaking to people attending open days and then get your CV tailor it to the whatever industry it is that you're applying to and then apply with a strategy if you get rejections don't feel upset you're applying to it in your industry you should expect that you should be happy because then you can learn how to make a better application for your next one and eventually you guys you will get there and you will get that internship that you want so thank you guys for watching this video thank you guys if you really if you found this video useful then please hit the thumbs up button and How do you make a document that has an electronic signature?

How do you make this information that was not in a digital format a computer-readable document for the user? " "So the question is not only how can you get to an individual from an individual, but how can you get to an individual with a group of individuals. How do you get from one location and say let's go to this location and say let's go to that location. How do you get from, you know, some of the more traditional forms of information that you are used to seeing in a document or other forms. The ability to do that in a digital medium has been a huge challenge. I think we've done it, but there's some work that we have to do on the security side of that. And of course, there's the question of how do you protect it from being read by people that you're not intending to be able to actually read it? " When asked to describe what he means by a "user-centric" approach to security, Bensley responds that "you're still in a situation where you are still talking about a lot of the security that is done by individuals, but we've done a very good job of making it a user-centric process. You're not going to be able to create a document or something on your own that you can give to an individual. You can't just open and copy over and then give it to somebody else. You still have to do the work of the document being created in the first place and the work of the document being delivered in a secure manner."
