Industry sign banking north dakota job offer computer

hey guys it's julia in this video i'll be sharing my journey on how i switched from investment thinking to software engineering i'm a firm believer that you should try out as many things as you want in life it definitely wasn't easy to switch from a completely different irrelevant industry and finance to software engineering and tech but my thinking behind it was hey if i'm going to be working in an industry for 30 plus years or maybe perhaps 40 years then i want to make sure that i want to be in this industry and not regret later thinking oh what if i did this what that i want to regret later here is a little bit about my background my major is in math department i'm a double major in doctoral science and statistics with finance options almost every field likes people with technical background maybe except for arts industry having a math background with technical experience definitely helped me try out different industries so i did two internships at barclays work-life balance is probably one of the main reasons why i decided to switch out of investment banking sure investment banking makes a lot of money very prestigious and you make a lot of money straight out of undergrad i think i was working around 90 hours per week definitely more than 80 hours and sometimes i would work up to like 120 hours so basically i just lived in the office you work on the weekends you never work out you barely see your friends my typical day during the internship was i go into the office at 9 30 which is not that terrible but then like the very earliest i can get out of the office would be like midnight that would be considered leaving early so i would usually stay until like two or three or even like sometimes six in the morning i i basically pull all nighter at the office and then you have to be in at the office by 9 30 the next day it was just so brutal it was not sustainable and that's why i had to make the switch and one of the things that i hated the most about the culture was that i had to do this thing called face time face time is when you have to sit at your desk and pretend you're working even if you don't have like much work to do as long as there is other people other analysts other associate in the building unfortunately my internship was during one of the busiest times of the year which meant that i had to do a lot of facetime sure there's always like some sort of work to do but if it's not urgent i don't feel like you should be obligated to stay in the office and pretend that you're working away at something so i don't speak for all investment things but like facetime is such a common concept that they have a term for it facetime it's a pretty common thing for investment banks and i just wasn't about it yeah i would say the work was pretty interesting for sure i was in mergers and acquisitions and you get to see live deals going on you get to be in calls or meetings with ceos or executives of big companies that you would never interact with until much later in your career for normal industries i gotta say the work was pretty interesting but the work-life balance just didn't make the cut although i hated the hours i pulled it off pretty well in the end and so i did two internships at the same firm thinking back i think i accepted the offer because i was more excited about the offer itself from a prestigious company rather than being really serious about the industry because the work-life balance is so horrible most people usually just stay in the industry for two years before quitting and going into a different industry like consulting or private equity or hedge funds like did two internships which meant that i did eight months of investment banking by the end of it i was really done with it so why did i choose tech tech is known for respecting work-life balance and having flexible hours it pays really well pay is pretty much on par with investment banks if you're working for one of the top tech companies and i figured that if you're in tech you don't have to deal with as much office politics i figured that the work that you do better speaks for yourself rather than how many hours you put into this powerpoint slides in investment banking so how did i get into tech it took around a year of hard work and a lot of rejections before i could make the switch into tech originally i was going for data science because i have statistics background and i thought it would be easier to switch into data science than software engineering but it turns out i was wrong first of all in general companies need a lot more software engineers than data scientists oftentimes when i'm applying for jobs i will see multiple software engineering positions like front end backend machine learning everything but then i would see no data science positions this makes sense because companies especially smaller companies have only so much data and they don't need like hundreds of data scientists working with the same data and a lot of data science positions required at least master's degree and i didn't want to do any more school after undergrad because i didn't have any money to pay for tuition and i thought the opportunity cost of doing more school was way higher than just going straight into the industry another reason for choosing software engineer rather than data science was because from my experience data science databases were just way harder to pass than interviews for software engineers for data science you need to prep for not only statistics but you need to prep for coding and also product knowledge and sometimes they might even ask machine learning related questions when i was prepping for data science interviews i just felt that i'm spreading myself too thin there's just so many things that you could be studying and you never know what you're going to be asked and so it's just way harder to prep for whereas for software engineers you only need to prep for just one thing just coding and thankfully i had a lot of friends in computer science from my school and a lot of them already worked for top companies like google facebook all the bank companies and other hot startups so when i decided to just go for software engineering a lot of my friends really helped me to get ramped up on interview prep they told me that i should just focus on leak code which is a website that basically has a test bank of all the questions that companies usually reference when they're interviewing candidates my friends gave me a lot of mock interviews they made sure that my quality is good over a span of one year i did around 500 questions only code before i landed my first software engineering internship it definitely wasn't easy at first sometimes it would take me around three hours to do just one question and sometimes i would just be stuck with one question for the entire day pretty brutal prepping by myself everyone around me has doubts about why i'm trying to switch when i could have just stayed in investment banking definitely wasn't an easy time for me but i pulled through it thanks to my friends i landed my software engineering internship at capital one and i use that as a stepping stone to get even more interviews eventually i was able to land an internship in one of the things i'm working full-time now in that company i'm definitely lucky that it worked out for me but i had my fair share of disappointments frustrations before i was able to make the switch i got three interviews from data science positions and i got rejected by all of them and i even got them on site for one of them and getting rejected just doesn't feel great it's not my intention to show off or brag on youtube it took me a lot of courage to come out here and share my story on how i make the switch from investment banking to software engineering i'm sharing my story because i want to help other people get more perspectives and insights into different industries and inspire them to tackle their goals whatever that is okay thank you so much for watching follow me on instagram down below here or here if you have any comments or questions please leave it down below i promise i'll be responding to every single comment thank you so much please like and subscribe good luck everyone bye [Music] you

Frequently asked questions

Learn everything you need to know to use airSlate SignNow eSignatures like a pro.

How do you make a document that has an electronic signature?

How do you make this information that was not in a digital format a computer-readable document for the user? " "So the question is not only how can you get to an individual from an individual, but how can you get to an individual with a group of individuals. How do you get from one location and say let's go to this location and say let's go to that location. How do you get from, you know, some of the more traditional forms of information that you are used to seeing in a document or other forms. The ability to do that in a digital medium has been a huge challenge. I think we've done it, but there's some work that we have to do on the security side of that. And of course, there's the question of how do you protect it from being read by people that you're not intending to be able to actually read it? " When asked to describe what he means by a "user-centric" approach to security, Bensley responds that "you're still in a situation where you are still talking about a lot of the security that is done by individuals, but we've done a very good job of making it a user-centric process. You're not going to be able to create a document or something on your own that you can give to an individual. You can't just open and copy over and then give it to somebody else. You still have to do the work of the document being created in the first place and the work of the document being delivered in a secure manner."

How to create electronic signature in pdf?

What about a simple example of how to create a pdf signature in html? In this post, I am going to discuss the use of PDF signatures as a way to prove a document is real, and not forged. The idea of using pdf signatures as a way to prove documents are real is simple. A document is real if it can be verified in the format specified by the document signature, and it exists (the signature is valid). But a PDF document cannot be verified in the format specified by the signature, so the signature must remain valid. The most fundamental problem that must be solved is that there is no way to determine the original source of the PDF that contains a signature. If someone else has a PDF that contains a document signature, then that document signature can not be verified for a different PDF of the same file that also contains the original, valid signature. This makes it impossible to know for sure if a PDF is genuine, since you cannot know if it contains a signature, or whether it is based on another PDF. So, in order to prevent this problem from occurring, you must have a way for the user to see the source of the PDF document that contains the signature, and the signature itself, in addition to the original. This is called a digital signature and is described in more detail in the next section. Digital Signature Digital Signature is the system by which the signature is verified and is required to have. There are two types of digital signature: Public and Private. Private Digita...

How do you make a document esign?

How do you make it look nice? We can't do that with just a CSS file. There is just an endless process of tweaking and adjusting and tweaking and adjusting. What happens in the document is this: We're trying to make it look nice and neat by adjusting all these things to make it a nice presentation. The document is a collection of CSS rules. A document is composed of the rules, but it's also a collection of presentation, because that presentation depends on the rules that make it nice and neat. So the presentation depends not just on the presentation of the document, but also on how it's being displayed. That said, how the presentation is being displayed is going to be influenced by the markup that's on the page. That's why it's so important, when you're designing, to make sure there are no display-related problems that are going to be affecting the presentation of your website.
