hey folks welcome back to this video a lot of times I get asked what's the best book for product managers uh as such that are not really really good books in product management because a lot of product management is all about experiential learning which you only get to learn by being at a company and working with a product but over time after hearing all actually the questions repeatedly that books books books I do understand that a lot of people a lot of us who come from engineering and clearing iitjee and stuff like that would definitely expect some books being there in the market which would help you get accelerated in your product management career you do have a lot of courses and online material but if you do wish to sort of check out a product management book this is the book right the one that you see on the screen which is cracking the PM interview I've checked this out check this book I have also added it on the screen here where you can see uh the Amazon link it's a pretty uh I'll also take you through this book and just tell what all contents does this book have in it and uh you you can see that book on the screen and it's a very affordable book that a lot of people can buy if you search product management on any Amazon Flipkart you would definitely find this book one of the top rated book um on the search it has got 4.5 star rating and 2700 people rating take you through the book what contents does the book have and how useful it has been at the end of the video I'll tell you how useful it has been for me in my interviews so the book starts with uh things like what is the product management role uh what are different how the role differs and different companies like Google Microsoft and stuff like that Twitter Yahoo Amazon and it also talks about the first chapter uh the first section of the book also basically covers uh getting the right experience uh being a new grad how would you sort of get the experience what things should you do is MBA required and all those questions very important ones are answered and then this is all the contents uh from the introduction to understanding the product management role to the companies the role at different companies how it differs and then getting the right experience this is the entering into a product management role right and then after that you have career advancements it talks about some q and A's are there with uh industry leaders and stuff basically thought leaders uh which I think it's a really insightful read which I have had and then you have interview behind the scenes so it talks about how product management interviews happen in different companies including all the fan companies and then seventh chapter talks about the resume writing how you should frame your resume and uh it this book has got a lot of really good resume reviews where it talks about before and after uh the Improvement in the in the resume like how the before uh resume was how was it afterwards what are some good things to have in the resume and highlights each and everything of that sort uh so before and after of resumes uh which I really found found it really useful when I started my uh product Journey it it does basically cover uh uh basically cover letters how to write cover letters and then you have got basically doing company research when you think about joining a company how would you research a company how do you understand its product portfolio and all that stuff this then it has got some questions interview questions the very famous interview question Tell me about yourself it has greatly covered how you should uh what you should include and how you should deliver that thing and then you have got like behavioral questions estimation questions product questions case questions and coding questions so these are like three four five different types of questions that you generally get asked in any technical uh rounds of product management there are design questions that guesstimates there are behavioral questions uh you have product questions and all that stuff and then at the end of the book you have the appendix which talks about being the top one percent product manager and how you should be that and there are a couple of people talking about it um how you can become a great product manager and how what things you should do to have a great start to your product management career so these are certain things uh it's a really good book very compact book it's not very thick though it's like decent size and price really well I do think it's a great start if you if you have already run a lot of courses you have done some introductory stuff you are looking for a book which you can which can accompany your preparation along with uh the other things that you're doing definitely you can go for this uh it's a really good one there's another book that came after this cracking the PM career uh which is which is more for the late stage product managers I'll also leave a link to that in case you are into product management for a couple of years and you're looking for a book which will help you take your product management uh basically career to your next level so that's the book that you should be uh uh basically thinking about but overall this book is a 10 on 10 from my side it has greatly helped me I've passed this on pass this book to a lot of my friends who were looking to break into product and they also have really really took a lot of value from this book it's a quick read it's a handbook it's a must-have book
