On ______ ___ , 20 ___ , petitioner, properly licensed for same, was notified by the Louisiana State Police to retrieve a _______________ automobile, bearing VIN _______________ , from the Louisiana State Police, Troop _______________ Headquarters in _______________ and tow the said vehicle to petitioner = s storage facility near _______________ , Louisiana, which it did. The operator of said vehicle, whom petitioner is informed gave the name, _______________ , had been arrested and brought to the ______ Parish Jail. 2. The said vehicle bears license plate number ______ which, petitioner is informed, was issued in the nation of ______ . The defendant has been sentenced and is serving time in the ______ Parish Correctional Facility. The Louisiana State Police has released its hold on the vehicle, but the vehicle contained no documents or other evidence indicating the ownership or registration thereof. 3, The proper and prescribed reports were made and filed by petitioner in the matter, but efforts to locate and contact the owner of said vehicle have been to no avail. No one has called or contacted petitioner claiming to be the registered owner of said vehicle. 4. Petitioner has incurred towing expenses, reporting and storage charges in connection with said vehicle. In compliance with customary procedures, petitioner applied on ______ ___ , 20 ___ , to the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections for a title in order to sell said vehicle but, for the sole stated reason that this vehicle is registered outside of the United States of America, the said Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections on ______ ___ , 20 ___ , declined to issue or permit to sell without a court order. Copies of the application and response are also annexed hereto. 5. It is necessary that petitioner be issued either a Permit to Sell or Certificate of Title in order for it to legally convey and dispose of said vehicle and properly resolve this matter, but the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections will not do so in the absence of an order from this court.
