hi guys i want to welcome you all to our young adult project management career coaching program that's starting this saturday we're so excited to have you all this is a great program we're very excited because we feel it's part of our commitment towards our community in maryland to help mitigate some of the impact of covid this is a great program it's the first of its kind that we've offered we've been offering project management certificates for the past 10 years but this this time we're including an element of coaching it's it's combining our internship program with our coaching program in power one along with our project management certification so three programs in one and it's really really uh going to be interesting and we're very grateful to the maryland state department for housing and economic development for funding this program again as part of our commitment to helping our community and be empowered during this post covet so the next two minutes i'm going to share with you what this program is all about and then i have an assignment for you to complete and submit before we get started on saturday so please take notes you can pause the video go grab a notebook or something a piece of paper or a google doc is best as a matter of fact i want you to use a google doc and there is a link on the very last piece of this video that you can download a template and complete so take copious notes this is really really important so what is this program all about you're going to learn some information about project management over 36 hours over three days and this will help you satisfy the requirements for the project management institute which is the world's largest project management nonprofit consortium that comes you know that provides professional development in the field uh if one day you decide to take the project management uh professional certification you would have uh completed the training requirements and this is really really uh important because a lot of young people don't have the ability to achieve this the training for this in the market is about thirty five hundred to five thousand dollars just to get this three day training so we're giving it to you completely free some people might have paid ten dollars but i think everyone that i've seen signed up for free and then you're gonna get an opportunity to work on real life projects now the cool thing about this if you're already an entrepreneur you got a project going on you're doing a podcast you're selling something online you can use that project to practice uh your your learning if you don't have a project we will give you one through our internship program in either case you will become an intern for eight weeks to the end of march and you will have a real project that you're working on and you become a certified project manager uh really really cool stuff guys this is the the certificate you'll be getting looks like this and more importantly how will you benefit from this program you want to focus you want to practice what you learn and you want to apply it focus meaning taking copious notes i want you to take notes now you should be taking notes you got to be taking notes in program it's going to be from 10 a.m to 4 p.m not that long of a day but we kept it short because of the online but you're going to take a lots of notes there's going to be hands-on activities going to be really really engaging you want to keep your phones away no distractions if you have two screens that's best if you don't then your phone and your screen but you know try to have as many ways to take notes and watch the screen at the same time you want to practice we're going gonna if you have a gmail account you've signed up with it we already got you covered if you don't send us a gmail account because that will make things much easier and then you're gonna apply what you learn in real life experiences so what are we gonna learn a little bit about project management tools and techniques processes how to solve problems principles and concepts what are we why are we doing this why are we learning this because obviously there's a lot that has changed in the last 12 months the pandemic has made a profound impact but besides the imp the impact of the pandemic uh the models of employment and working and consulting have changed today people are becoming more uh you know working remotely they're more on the go more mobile knowledge is pervasive access to the internet into information is pervasive and we're moving you know the employment models is shifting from an eight to five to more of a contractor a lot more people are are more interested becoming contractors because they can do a lot more flexibility uh they can save more money they can write off taxes it's really good so what's important is that there's a lot of global changes happening and you want to know where do you stand on the global map what is your potential compared to your performance where do you sit on this grid and there's tons of opportunity waiting us as people start to reopen after the pandemic there's just going to be a flood gate of projects and the need to bring new solutions to existing problems and to restructure things and become more agile and transform things to become digital and and you know continue to wait for to work pervasively so great opportunity timing is great and this is again your opportunity to to get part uh a glimpse of that market so it all starts with a vision the question that i want you to think about and put it in your assignment where do you see yourself in the future in the next two years of your career what role are you going to be playing what's your position what contributions have you brought to the global community and what's your impact on the world that's the first thing the second thing i want you to spend some time what's your mission what excites you to get up early each morning and get to do something you see these two little boys at the cliff there they're looking down there's something exciting them about this beautiful view what is your view of the world what do you want to do what's the impact you want to leave after you leave this life so that's your homework uh three things i want you to focus on um capturing the notes from this video so go back again and watch the video as many times as you need to send it to me or share it better share it with this google doc i do not use anything else other than google suite so please do not send me microsoft documents or pdfs uh it's best if you just make a copy of this document that's linked here fill it in include your vision and mission statement and we're excited we're looking forward to see you guys
