We aren't evil; we aren't going to turn evil; but you have to ask yourself that question. First of all, given how we make our livelihood, we would have everything to lose and little to gain by turning evil. Secondly, there really is a lot about 1Password that is independently verifiable, so it wouldn't be "easy" to be evil without detection. Even if we were compelled to be evil by a government, it would be very difficult to do without being detected: 1Password and The Crypto WarsAnother question you have to ask is whether we are competent. That is, even if we aren't evil, we could still screw things up by accident. Never under-estimate the ways in which people can get things wrong with cryptographic tools. Even though everyone and their dog has easy access to excellent implementations of cryptographic primitives, it remains remarkably easy to use those tools incorrectly. We never build our own crypto, but knowing what cryptographic constructions to use when is actually quite subtle. Rules of thumb like "ECB mode bad, CTR mode good" can bite you in the backside if you don't understand what is behind those rules of thumb. annoying, right?Well there is a reason for this.If the system keeps running after the update is applied, the system will not load them directly. It will not take effect. Now if you DO reboot or restart your system, the system will recognize, load, and take the updates into effect. Seriously it will require a full reboot. Signing out and signing in will only reload the desktop and the programs, not the whole system.
