Sometimes your use case involves an app not yet supported on Zapier. In those instances we have a few workarounds to try so you can use that data in your Zaps. The option you choose will depend on the setup of the app so let's look at a few choices so you can find the one that works best for your needs. The first option to try is using an RSS feed. RSS, or Really Simple Syndication, is a way for sites to create a feed of information. This can be anything from new blog posts, the latest weather, a traffic report, new events or promotions or even an activity feed if the app has one. Another option for getting information to or from your app is to use email. With this option you have a few choices. If for example your email application is supported on Zapier, like Gmail or Office 365 or even IMAP you can create a Zap that triggers when you receive a new email and use that information within the Zap. Adding a filter lets you get more granular with which emails trigger your Zap. But let's say you want to extract separate pieces of data from that email. While most email apps send the entire body of the email, our parser app will let you create a template to parse information and add them as separate fields in your Zap. Finally, some apps will accept new information simply by sending an email to an address they specify. In this case you'll first want to determine the format the app requires in the email. Some may expect a specific coding language like XML while others will be able to extract the data from the body content. From there you'd be able to set up your Zap to send that format in the body of the email. If you're unsure of the required email format needed we recommend reaching out to the app's support team for more information. Sometimes you'll find that an app trigger or action you need isn't directly supported on Zapier but it is through another app we support. For example tools like Buffer and HootSuite will post information to other apps like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram. They may offer more functionality through those apps than if you were to find and use the app directly through Zapier. Finally if none of these options work for your needs you could always create your own app on Zapier using our developer platform at no cost.
