All will beMCQ type and **there will be NO NEGATIVE MARKINGS**.This test will contain 4 sections namely-> Verbal Ability; Quants; Logical Ability; Automata Fixing.Okay, now let me explain these all one by one.>> Verbal Ability:-> This part contains mainly English Grammar and Comprehensions. Just go through any basic English grammar books of class 9,10 standard then you can easily get through this section. How was anti-semitism and discrimination against Jews officialy justified during USSR?
There was no official antisemitism, or any other ethnic bigotry, prior to WWII. It was all class warfare then. No one cared which ethnicity you were.It all changed during and after the WWII, when ethnic identity became all the rage. At first, that affected several other ethnic group much worse than Jews; by Brezhnev’s time, it became primarily about Jews.Officially, the word “Jews” was rarely mentioned. It was a rude word and could offend some delicate spirits. There was however an official campaign in 1948–1953 against Rootless cosmopolitans and “murderers in white lab coats” (both euphemisms for Jews), most of the Jewish Anti-Fascist Committee was tortured and shot in 1953 at the height of the anti-Jewish campaign, Jewish theater was closed (prompting a joke that “other than Moishe and myself, all the artists in our Roma theater are Jewish), and, all over the country, random Jews like my Grandfather were beaten on the streets by mobs, on the ground of being rootless cosmopolitans. Fortunately, Grandma was an ethnic Russian who was willing to fight the whole mob single-handedly and had a sharp tongue and probably saved his life.In 1953, there were rumors of trains ready to “evacuate” the rootless cosmopolitans into Siberia to save them from people’s anger, like it had already been done to several other ethnic groups before. Fortunately, the death of Stalin stopped that wave of abuse. I had always secretly hoped that maybe a Jewish “murderer in a white coat” helped him out of his misery in a self-fulfilling prophecy sort of a way, but no; apparently, it was a Georgian and a murderer arguably even worse than Stalin.After that, there were a few years when everybody, even Jews, sighed relief. Then again, it depended on a republic. As I wrote before, Ukraine, especially Western Ukraine, was fantastically antisemitic to its few surviving Jews, forcing them to try their luck in Russia and other republics. I don’t think the antisemites needed an official justification. Their newfound relative freedom during Chruschev’s time also meant the freedom to act on their nationalist beliefs. It did not need a justification. A person’s obviously Jewish name was pedaled as a justification, nudge nudge, wink wink. Everybody understood. That’s why I laugh when Ukrainians try to portray themselves as victims of Russian communists. If Russian and not Ukrainian communists ruled in Ukraine, my father would have been able to find a job there and I would not have been born.Then there was official expulsion of Jews from the branches of science that prepared the cadres for the defense and space industry, Physics being the most notable of them. I was told there was a secret instruction against “ethnicities whose nation states don’t have diplomatic relations with the USSR”. Another euphemism for Jews obviously. South Africa did not have diplomatic relations with the USSR, but how many (white) South Africans were applying to Russian universities?That’s why neither of my parents became physicists and instead acquired a similar, but not nearly as tightly regulated scientific speciality. Despite both being gold medalists, i.e. the “champions” of their schools.A diplomatic career was of course totally closed to Jews, but not many wanted it in the first place. Those people were elite. One mink-coated diplomatic wife once told my mother that her dog eats what her children have never tasted; as an explanation why that dog gets to poop on our playground. Of course we were not allowed there, that was understood. No decent people wanted to be in that swamp anyway. The limitations in scientific education really hurt though.When the STEM faculties of Moscow State University (the most prestigious university in Russia) stopped accepting Jews, the Jewish students instead applied to 2 or 3 other universities who were more accepting. I studied in one of those. We were lovingly dubbed “a synagogue”. Our “synagogue” major was known for two things: very low competition, and very high admission requirements. A seeming contradiction. The quality of education in those schools shot up sharply; not because we were the best, but because we would have normally attended a more reputable school. Coincidentally, the quality of education in the more reputable school (Moscow State University) decreased sharply at about the same time. We know because that school still had some Jewish professors left, even though it no longer had Jewish students, whose lectures we could sometimes attend, without getting any credits for it. We could see that the majority of the local students don’t understand the lecture.As for our “synagogue”, our rector was quoted as saying that “having too many Jewish students is scandalous (неприлично)”. But, to his credit, he went out of his way to institute anonymous entrance exams, thus making selection by ethnicity impossible, and selection by connections, nearly impossible. Which is how we became the synagogue we were in the first place.

What's the shadiest tactic you've witnessed HR use at your job?
They used false “help wanted” ads to fire their own employees that were looking for a new job.I worked for a lead generation service which sold qualified lists of homeowners (and their telephone numbers) to financial advisers. Then, they sold those same financial advisers a telemarketing service that would call those homeowners and arrange appointments with them. There is so much that is “shady” about this company that it is impossible to bring up one questionable act without first explaining several previous questionable or downright illegal acts. I got on craigslist, and I found several positions in customer service and data entry that were available right in my city. I sent them a quick email with my resume attached, and waited for a response.The next day I was called into the President’s office. He invited me to sit down. His mother (the vice president of the company) was standing behind him. He asked me if I was happy working for him.Luckily for me, I knew this was a trap of some kind and answered honestly. I told him that I was interested in having more free time with a more flexible schedule and that it would be impossible to do so with my current job, so I was in the process of looking for something else. I also told him that I had informed my direct supervisor of my intentions last week, and that I would give the company adequate warning—at least two weeks notice—before I quit.He and his mother looked at each other. Well, he said, it turns out that one of the companies I had applied to was the very same company I worked for now. I thought that was odd, because I don’t have any intellectual disabilities or mental impairments that would indicate I would apply to the same company that I currently worked for. Nevertheless, I told him that I suppose this was good news, since perhaps I could simply transfer to whatever this open position was and still maintain my employment with his company while working the schedule that was most convenient for myself.Not so fast. It turned out there wasn’t any positions available in those departments. Their strategy was to entice applicants with positions in data entry and customer service and then during the interview inform them that those positions had been filled; those applicants were then offered much less pay and schedule flexibility as a salesman. In addition, current employees that applied for these jobs were summarily fired for being “disloyal.”A month later I was terminated, for reasons I still do not fully understand. I applied for unemployment, and when I explained the series of events leading to my termination the lady at the unemployment office literally scoffed at me and told me that my story was unbelievable. She even called me personally at home to tell me that the company was contesting my unemployment filing and that she expected me to lose the arbitration process.The day of the hearing I got a phone call from the same lady, in tears. She apologized profusely for how she had treated me. She had just completed a five-minute interaction with the president and his mother, confirming not only my story but also her worst fears about humanity in general.

Have you been fired from a job, and they forgot to stop paying you?
A VP & GM at Nortel, I wasn’t fired, as in terminated, but demoted in responsibility but not grade. In other words, my compensation wasn’t reduced but my responsibilities were. This was sufficiently odd that I received a call from HR asking me to explain my version: John Roth, our CEO, had directed them to “understand” why my direct manager, a Group VP, was forcing so many talented people out of the company? I told HR that his technique for justifying demotions, as well as his fondness for public floggings, was well known and I wasn’t getting into a urinary discharge contest with him.In reality, I was being heavily recruited and had begun interviewing before the demotion. I moved to another company at much higher compensation and with substantively more responsibility within 45 days after the demotion. I gave Nortel the requisite 30 days notice.Nortel continued to pay me for six months despite my having departed. And, I got to keep the money!What??? Having answered the question, the details may prove to be interesting.As a VP&GM based in the US, I was paid in dollars but out of the Canadian executive budget. When I was demoted, responsibility for my compensation moved from the Canadian budget to the US budget. This took some time since timely accounting was never a Nortel core competency: each budget center had its own way of doing things and heaven forbid that members of one group would actually “talk” to the other.After I resigned, I was asked to work a special project so I spent my days in the office. A friend asked “what kind of exit package did you get?” Huh? “At your level, no one ever leaves empty handed”, I was told. Hmmmm.I dropped by the local HR director’s office (who had facilitated my demotion) and asked whether Nortel would consider an exit package? “Why should we? You’ve already resigned.”I explained: True enough, but I was never asked to sign a non-compete and I’m being recruited by competitors. I’ll sign a non-compete and forgo those opportunities if compensated.Three days later I received a non-compete and proprietary information agreement with an offer for a year’s salary to sign. “OK, I can live with that.” Two days after signing the agreement, my new employer (who wasn’t a competitor and hadn’t made the offer when I approached HR) released a press release announcing my hiring. To say that HR was annoyed is a vast understatement.While all this is transpiring, US Finance processed my exit and shipped the paperwork to Canada because I was still on the US books as being administered out of the Canadian executive budget. Meanwhile Canadian Finance had shipped paperwork to the US for them to begin paying me. When my exit paperwork arrived in Canada, the response was “not my job, he’s US’ responsibility” — no flags raised. My transfer from Canadian to US budget arrived after they had passed my exit to Canada, so they did what the paperwork directed: I was dutifully added to the US payroll.Had I still been employed by Nortel, I would have missed two month’s pay during all this. By the time US payroll began transferring money to my bank account in NC, I had accepted my new job, closed the account and moved to Texas. Despite being “closed”, when money was deposited into my former account, the bank’s system accepted it, reinstated my ATM card and shipped the new one to my old address — welcome back, Michael!!!I had sold my home to a cardiac surgeon. By the time the bank began mailing me statements and new cards, the USPS mail forwarding window had ended. The surgeon tossed any mail to me — it was mostly junk — into a box.About nine months after buying the house, the surgeon’s wife called me. She noticed envelopes from BoA with cards in them while dumping the box. Further rummaging resulted in a stack of mail from the bank. Her husband had simply dumped everything with Camp as the addressee into the box.I asked her to FedEx the bank envelopes to me. Imagine my surprise at having six months of deposits sitting in an account that I thought had been closed!I called Nortel HR and told them that they were still paying me and suggested they should stop. I also told them I might need their help to unwind this mess. For example, not knowing I was receiving the money, I had misreported my income for the previous year to the IRS and thought an explanation from Nortel might smooth the process.The next day I get a call from a VP responsible for security at Nortel. He is huffing & puffing — demanding that I return the money immediately — and acting like I’ve done something wrong. Even after I explain the delay in learning about the deposits he is … well … he’s an ass.After listening to this jackass bray awhile, I finally unload. The payments resulted from miscommunication among multiple US and Canadian departments and senior levels were going to be embarrassed at the poor controls that allowed it to happen. Lower level heads would roll because — well, people assigned detailed responsibilities simply don’t allow their execs to be embarrassed. The senior executive to whom I supposedly reported had been authorizing payroll disbursement without paying attention so he and his Finance chief would soon receive a career-limiting audit of everything finance-related starting with their expense reports. And finally, before I returned any money, I was going to pay for expenses caused by Nortel’s screw-up: fees charged by my accountant to help fix my understating income to the IRS and state; penalties and fees as well as additional taxes due; and whatever else might arise. I ended the call by telling him that I was pleased to explain this mess directly to John Roth, Nortel CEO, who had promoted me and placed me under the Group VP who ultimately demoted me. Once he grasped that the problem would engulf senior executives on both sides of the border, he said he would discuss it internally and call me in a few days regarding the way forward.I never received that call or any other follow up from Nortel regarding the matter. The money, less related expenses, sat in a CD for 6 years before I finally decided to accept it as a departing gift.
