Privacy (HIPAA) laws now dictate that revealing identifying information about your patients/clients to others is unlawful.Years ago in the hospital central registration office that I worked in (which included ER and admitting) we used a numbered ticket taker. People kind of felt like they were at the meat market, and they weren’t sure whether they were the customer or the cattle. While at the same time, the doctors and dentists offices were still using a pad of paper and pen for everyone to sign their name on…for the next people to see (I still see these, and I still cringe).Most larger hospitals now use an electronic system to call you in for full registration. Like the little buzzer disc that goes off when it’s your turn to be seated at Olive Garden, etc. Offices or smaller central registrations in hospitals will use an electronic signature pad, and then call FIRST NAME ONLY, when it’s your turn. At my therapists office, they know me. I go up to the counter, they ‘check me in’ and when my therapist is ready he just walks out to find me. I see him and go. No words need to be spoken at all.Under no circumstances should someones full name be loudly announced in a waiting room for all to hear. That is a bsignNow of privacy.The catch 22 here is that…the smaller town offices have the least capital to convert to a more private electronic way of handling this, and yet…these are the places where everyone knows everyone elses names, etc…and the privacy is needed the most.If your full name is ever used in a waiting area, kindly remind them that you’re uncomfortable about this, and they lawfully need to come up with more private ways to call patients back. There is a lot to consider before the ‘attack’ even commences.Now if we go back to WW1 prior to radar and emissions detection at longe range, ships had to visually identify their foes. Keep in mind you didn’t have the vast array of communication available today or technologies that allowed you to detail where friends and goes alike were located. Basically you couldn't go out and just start shooting at any hull you saw on the horizon. You might be shooting at a friendly, a neutral or even a merchant ship.Is this LST harder to see than the one below it?No its not technically hard to see. But camo tricks the eyes and makes it a lot hard for you to distinguish what specifically you are looking at. What you are looking at are 2 different classes of LST. In this case both LST classes were used by multiple countries after the USN got rid of them. Good example, 1 is used or was used by Greece an the other was used by Turkey. Both countries employed camouflage, in modern times in fact.Does the above picture any harder to distinguish from the bottom one?From a close up perspective not really. But try putting it 12 miles away from you with the hull slightly down over the horizon. I have seen said vessel in the top pic just on the horizon and I am here to tell you camo works. The visual effect at the horizon during certain times of day can create a haze or distortion. With this paint scheme the Freedom looks like its hull down rather than hull up and really it confuses you into thinking that the superstructure is everything there. And this effect makes you take a lot longer to VID.But if that's the case who cares right? We have radar, we have ECM gear to pick up said vessels electronic signature, we dont need to be able to visually ID it right? That is most assuredly not the case. Employers, Law Enforcement and other government agencies, legal professionals, the press, criminals and others with an interest in your reputation will be observing all online activity associated with your real name.These "interested parties" (snoops) are usually terrible at separating professional and personal life, so you could be made to suffer for unpopular opinions, political or religious convictions, associates or group affiliations they consider "unsavory", and any behavior that can be interpreted in the most uncharitable light.
