good morning youtube reseller mom here welcome to today's video today i'm doing just a quick video about safety compliance document request for amazon fba because that is a huge hot topic right now i believe it was yesterday sometime amazon came through and has put out requests for a whole bunch of safety documents you should have received an email about this and i've seen gosh at least half a dozen posts on facebook about what are these documents what do i need to do what's the repercussions for not doing etc so first public announcement for your information if you are on facebook and you're following these threads you do not need to type in the comments section in order to follow a thread or get notifications about a thread when somebody is posted if you just click the three little dots next to the title on the top of the post there is a little button where it says turn on notifications for this post that is my go-to any type of question or thread that i'm interested in i turn on the notifications for it so that i can follow along with what the answers are also while facebook is a great place to get information it usually just is to send me into a direction of what more to research not everybody posts exact truths on facebook you know the internet is a great resource for things but definitely check and double check to make sure that you're getting legit information i have i've most of the time people post correct information but every once in a while i see somebody post something that is not correct or maybe it's gray in a gray area there was one post today that i was following about the requirement for shoe boxes and a lot of companies are ditching the shoe box when shipping their online orders out to you and if you are reselling from those and you don't have the product box can you still ship them out for amazon fba and some people say yes some people say no so that is one that you know you'd want to make sure you're doing correctly because if you mess something like that up you could have repercussions to your account at the end of the day your account you need to make sure the health of your account is up to speed and take care of any issues with your account and use all of the resources available to you to make the best decisions so back to product compliance requests in the email that you should have received saying that you now have documentation request you need to go to your account dashboard your account health dashboard and this is a dashboard you want to be up and up on and know how to interpret it and keep keep it in good standing as you can see here this is mine i my account is about six years old it will be six years old in april may and it has some dings on it these are things that i am working on all of the dings here have either cases or things going on with them and you need to know how that all works i can't get into all of that in this video because i need to do a short video but some of these you will clear up and they will stay on your account for six months some are more important than others and some once you get them cleared off they will fall off your dashboard so sometimes you will see an email response from amazon that says you know we've received your product you know paperwork or whatnot but it is still going to be reflective on your dashboard and you need to wait six months for them to fall off so it's good to set maybe a notification in your calendar to double check those at six months in one day to make sure that it has fallen off for defect rates and shipping performance you want to make sure those are staying good i know some people during the q4 drama of the post office some of these got a little crazy and they did wind up moving from the green to the yellow but once things get cleared up you should move back into the green for this last q4 i did over 2 000 merchant fulfilled orders i did wind up having to cancel two because i ran out of i either ran out of the product or amazon oversold me kind of hard to determine i'm gonna blame amazon though because i i shouldn't i mean we tried to do inventory pretty darn good but i two got away from me i don't know anyhow in the bottom right hand corner is product compliance request you're going to click on documentation requests this is what mine looks like that's what i woke up to yesterday it doesn't have a time stamp but it was some time yesterday that i got 13 requests pushed through and they were all uh if they weren't all toys it was mostly toys that got hammered yesterday and you'll see the due date here on the 12th now here's where a lot of you are going to freak out and say oh my goodness i've got all these plot product compliance requests this is going to take me forever it's a huge pain in the butt what am i going to do how do i do this etc that's what i've seen on the post today first of all don't freak out these are very minor requests amazon goes through very i don't want to say frequently but this is i've had about three of these large compliance requests happen just in the last six months that i've been hit with and they're going through their products and making sure they have the safety documentation on record and that's a good thing we want to have our products have safety whatever safety compliance records on file we want those to be on amazon that's that's a good thing for a selling platform there's a couple of things that you can do the first is if you do not have this item in stock and you don't plan on doing you know selling it again just copy the asin from this page go to your inventory close and delete the listing that will take it off of the compliance requests there you go that's what most of us are going to do honestly i'm sold out of almost everything out of these 13 items and it will take about sometimes it can take 24 to 48 hours so i will go through these today delete any products i don't plan on selling again or at least in the near future and go ahead and delete them and they will fall off of this compliance record be aware that everybody who is on the listing for that asin has received this document request so if me and steve are both on the listing and steve wants to sell the item and he finds the documentation and submits it it should be good for the listing and then it will fall off my side as well that is also something that could happen if you are if you do have stock of the item but it's not something you really want to sell for the long time you have until february 12th to sell out of that item so go ahead and you know maybe price accordingly do some advertising create a coupon whatever you got to do to sell out of that product and then close and delete the listing if you don't close and delete the listing that's okay amazon's going to do it for you on february 12th however i have seen a few posts today that say that from the previous ones amazon said they would delete the listing and they have not my guess is that the documentation was submitted and made that ace and okay so it's no longer needed for that and people can still sell that product online because they are now in compliance and have all the documentation they need all right so that should have cleared up 90 to 99 of your documentation problems with amazon right go through delete sell out you're good to go but let's say you do want to sell that item and or it's a private label item or it's a an item that you do plan on wholesaling and you want to get the information to comply with amazon you will need to provide documentation or appeal now let me talk about the appeal really quick the appeal is only if what they're asking for is not applicable to what you're selling so let's say it thinks your item is a toy for children 12 and under and really your item is not a toy for children 12 and under that's where the appeal button was would come into play and you would provide evidence or explain why your item is not for children under 12 and then they would not require the documentation for children's toys for that item for the ones in the fall it was pesticide type of documentation or hazardous material or something and so same thing applied a lot of the items that got flagged were scrubs and some people were able to email amazon and say look these are clothing and they don't have any pesticides or hazardous materials and so that doesn't apply and they were able to get it removed that way i tried i didn't do i it didn't go through for me so i don't know if i didn't do it right or whatnot but i just wound up recalling maybe a dozen scrubs and just selling them over on ebay and makari and leaving that headache it wasn't worth a headache to try and find the safety documentation for it okay so you want to provide documentation one place you need to be having bookmarked is the cpcpsc.gov consumer product safety commission this is going to lead you down the path to places that can tell you what the children's product certificate and compliance regulations are what documentations need to happen what testing needs to happen and testing sites that you can have your toy tested at to get the documentation so for instance i have some wholesale toys that i i do like and i'm going to show you it will come into play in the last slide but the compliance regulation or the compliance paperwork that the wholesaler has sent me does not meet the regulation requirements that amazon wants so then i would need to send that toy off for testing now i've heard it cost about 250 dollars but that's just what i've heard so this is not a light decision to have your product tested this is something that you you want to be selling lots of and and a core part of your business to go down this route you can also look for recalls and any sort of if your product has any sort of problems with it so let's say you wanted to sell a particular baby item that you picked up but there's something fishy going on you could check this site to see if it's been recalled for whatever reason and i don't believe there is a single platform out there that allows you to sell recalled or products that have some sort of problem with it on there i believe that would violate terms of service with amazon ebay etsy kind of everybody so if you have a product that is recalled for whatever reason i believe you need to dispose of it in terms of whatever the company says so anyhow it would be in the paperwork that's kind of going off on a tangent we're going to move on so let's say you have you're selling this crayola light up tracing pad and you want to do some research on it and find the compliance paperwork and you don't know what the upc code is this is just a little tidbit to let you know i copy and paste the asin into the find your product and the upc code will be posted right there this is i use this trick all the time especially when i'm looking for bundles or i want to sell something or i want to go see if this product sold so it's more for research but if you needed to find it for safety compliance looking up you could do that to find the upc number here so let's say i want to sell this product though and i'm looking on brick seek or seeing if it's sold in my area or what the price is and i know that it's 25 here and i want to see what it's going for in my area or if there's any sales or whatnot going on then i take this upc code and i can copy and paste it into any other we'll say walmart.com or target or whatnot so that's what i use this mostly for but you can also use it if you're trying to track down compliance paperwork and you need the upc code so now that we have the upc code the next thing that you're going to want to do is get get familiar and get comfortable doing searches on google and learning how to do searches and and etc on google i i can't stress that enough a lot of people go straight to facebook and asks how do i do this okay have you asked google first that's kind of the first tip it's while i don't discourage you from posting on facebook or commenting on videos or whatever a lot of times you can figure it out by a simple google search so for this one i did crayola safety documents and put in the upc code it didn't really come up but i did find how to obtain safety data sheets for crayola items so that led me to the company's website so that'd be the next thing i would go to when you're trying to track down this data sheet you could either go to your manufacturer your distributor your wholesaler that'd be the first way to go but for anybody who's doing online arbitrage or retail arbitrage that may not be the way to go you may need to go to the company's website anyhow you're gonna fig as you do your research you're going to figure out which way to go for what items if it's a wholesale item for myself i go straight to my wholesaler you should they should have the documents there and be able to point you in the right direction or email them to you etc if it's an online arbitrage or a retail arbitrage type of purchase i'm going to go to google i'm going to go to the company's website those are the two places i'm going to go to so on crayola here you go how can i obtain the safety data sheets for your products and you click on this link and then you're going to put in a basic search and see what comes up with sometimes i've had to email the company and said you know hey i have this product can you email me the safety sheets for it that has been successful in the past sometimes it is sometimes it's not so you can type in a partial product search or an exact product name here and for this video i couldn't get that one product that we first started off with here what is it uh crayola light up ink pad i couldn't get it to come up and i'm i'm in a time crunch here for this video so i went with something else i just picked the twistable crayons and here they are so it found seven records you're gonna find your product down here and obviously you know it's got some product codes associated with it and you're gonna click on the crayola crayons and boom you have your safety data sheet this was nine pages long you'll save the pdf and then you go submit that for amazon so it takes a little bit of work and some hunting around but you should be able to get it and know that you may have to do an email you may have to go to the website you may have to do some digging but once you have that data safety sheet you can just save it and submit the paperwork to amazon and you should be good to go if they kick it back for any reason then you of course need to follow up with what that reason was was it out of date was it not the correct product was you know there'll be something wrong with it and you should be able to see what is wrong with it i don't remember off the top of my head but i believe the safety data sheets need to be redone every two years maybe every three years so that could be why amazon's going through their toy stuff this january and maybe they do each category by each month and this just happens to be the toy month and they're going through and seeing which documentations are getting ready to expire and that's what they're trying to update for their records that's my guess just because i i used to do that myself in the lab we had to go through our msds sheets all the time and ones that were on the verge of coming to an expiration date reach out to the companies to get new data sheets on file i wanted to show you what it looks like for a common wholesaler site i have rhode island novelty i do purchase from them every once in a while uh they're all right but if you're looking for a wholesaler they're one of the top for toys and junk they have they have a whole bunch of pretty much junk from china is what i call it but you know what i'm talking about party idea or party stuff carnival stuff costumes things like that on their website they have it all listed so you go to consumer service you click on product safety you get this page right here you're gonna need adobe reader which you should have i believe it's free yeah it's a free download if you don't have it you can get it and then you click on view the novelty c p c which is what you're looking for you're looking for children's product certificates which is what most of the requirements were for yesterday's document request and there you go they have it here children's pro uct certificate and you just save this as a pdf and submit it so if you have wholesale items you should be able to get them from your wholesaler if not they you should be able to call them and figure out how to obtain those certificates so on these you can see that it's it's one page it's a for a flash sword i don't even know what this is i just typed in something to to show you an example here so i don't know what a flash sword is sounds cool it's from china and here is the results from where they tested it the testing agency the address that it was tested at and this may or may not be compliant to amazon so i would take this documentation submit it into amazon and they would either tell me that this is good or not good i have it in the past been kicked back this type of product certificate kicked back from amazon and they said it was not sufficient for their records so you know it it is what it is and if it gets kicked back my options are then to either get it tested myself in a testing agency that they approve of or shut down the listing and close things out that's that's kind of my two options there there's pretty much no way to sell unsafe children's toys on amazon without proper documentation for the long run and i don't suggest doing so either that is all i have for you guys i hope that clears up some of the common misunderstandings about these safety compliance document requests these are not ip documents they are not safety violations they are compliance document requests so if you delete the listing like i said it should fall off i had somebody that said the opposite on a facebook post that if you delete it then you won't be able to go and submit documents for it and i believe they were talking about a different one just a second on this dashboard right here if you have um food and product safety issues i believe right here that is where that comes into play that if you delete the listing and close that out you won't be able to add the documents and appeal anymore but i'm not quite sure i do know that for these safety document requirements that if you delete and close the listing out it does fall off your page and pretty quickly too i've had some fall off in a couple hours some take a day or two but they do not affect your account health in any way at this point right now it's just amazon trying to gather up information but it is something that you do need to be aware of and take care of hope you guys enjoyed if you
