Your chain of command will not be wanting your opinion on how ‘it should be done’, especially if you voluntarily offer it. They may ask for suggestions on occasion, but there’s other reasons for doing that, so don’t take it at face value!Most of the people I knew who were what most people would consider to be geniuses gave no consideration to serving in the military whatsoever. I’ve known some fairly astute individuals who pursued commissions and served for some length of time as officers. I’ve known some people who had a lot of common sense that did well in the enlisted grades, but in most cases they enlisted as very average eighteen-year-olds fresh out of high school and a lot of their growth, mentally, was in the military. I saw a lot of people who were intellectually formidable wash out of basic training, sometimes for medical issues, sometimes because they just weren’t adapting well. I saw quite a few fairly bright people who served one term of enlistment and move on. I saw a few reenlist and stick around, but I’d rate them as only somewhat above average in intelligence and mental ability but with well developed interpersonal skills and a high degree of adaptability. Of those, quite a few had grown up as ‘military brats’ and were used to not staying in one place for very long and knowing that constant change was a way of life.

He was unable to process a permit until I was a resident. I mentioned the grace period problem and was told that it was OK and just keep the guns in the house until the license can come. In other words, I was officially told to ignore the law.The day after we moved in I went back for the process. Thankfully I already had taken a class, but since it wasn’t in Massachusetts, I didn’t have the paper I needed to process the license. Took me 2 months to get into a class to get the certificate. The class covered much less than the class I’d already taken and cost nearly 3 times as much.Back to get the permit (this is the 3rd trip) Told I could not as they had a prisoner and could not allow a civilian into the booking room where the fingerprints were taken.Been in the state about 4 months now and finally getting my license processed. Fingerprints, photo, fee, and the long on-line form the officer had to fill out.License came a little over 7 months later. Been in the state almost a year and I was FINALLY actually legal with what I owned when I moved in.Oh, but you want to know about buying a gun. Well, now that I had my license I could do that. And it so happened that I had a gun in mind. So, a few weeks after I got my license I visited a shop that sold the particular one I wanted. It was a semi-custom item and there were not a lot of authorized dealers. So, I had to drive about 30 minutes to the dealer. About as far as the Registry was, so at least that was similar.I ordered the gun and asked if we could just do the paperwork then. The dealer said it had to be completed at the time of transfer.3 months later, my gun was ready for pickup. I went back to the dealer, and filled out the federal and state paperwork. The dealer then called NICS. I was delayed. The dealer had no idea why. He said it could be anything, but if he’d not heard anything in 3 days he could sell me the gun. So, I went home. Only to have the dealer call me about an hour later to tell me that the background had been approved. But alas it was late and I needed to wait a week to find time to return.On my 3rd trip to the dealer, I paid for the gun, had to buy a lock for it as the lock the manufacturer included wasn’t on the ‘approved’ list. The lock I bought was cheaper and seems to me less secure than the one that came with the gun. I also had to sign a form that I certified that I knew how to use the gun. (Isn’t that what the mandatory classes are for?) and FINALLY, got to take the new gun home.Driver’s license took two hours. Gun purchase took almost 2 years, and except for the 3 month period where my custom gun was being built, there really isn’t anything I could do to speed up that process. An in stock gun would have required the same crap.I’ve never been injured by anyone with a gun. I’ve been in several accidents and injured both times - head-on by a drunk who was on a suspended license from his first DUI, and a woman who rear ended me in a toll booth and never slowed down.Seems to me that the gun thing is way too complicated and the driver’s license thing is way too easy.

(And even while signing a notary paper, read it at least 20 times to make sure each and everything it says.)LEGAL PROCEDURE TO BUY LANDSuppose you go to see a piece of land. If you find it to your liking, then you can lock it. In Hindi, we call this process ass "zameen rokna". For this system of “BAYANA” is followed (i.e. aap bayana de kar zameen rok sakte hain). You pay the seller an agreed upon amount and decide an agreed upon time period, say x (generally 3 months). You sign an affidavit to this effect. After that, the seller cannot sell the land to anybody before x time period. If he violates bayana and decides to sell land the land before x time period, he must pay a penalty that is initially agreed upon and specified in the bayana affidavit.All of the following steps will take place before the last date of bayana passes away.The two parties will agree upon a date to sign the AGREEMENT.The lawyers of both parties will sit together and draw the AGREEMENT by mutual debate.If you are naive and gullible, you will invariably find yourself in a situation where the other party will draw an agreement without consulting you and then suddenly, out of blue, they will put it in front of you and ask you to sign it immediately on the basis of trust factor. In this case, take the following steps –Tell them that you need 48 hours to study the papers. DO THIS EVEN IF YOU COMPLETELY TRUST THE PAPERS. NEVER SIGN THE PAPERS ON THE SPOT. Now, initially you might think that you will get that money easily but later on you will find out that the procedure of procuring money is generally very tough and time consuming, especially if you are taking loan from a bank. That is why, in the case of installments, try to make the last date as late as possible.PAYMENT IN INSTALLMENTS.Important Note –The first and the last installments are always done in court in the presence of a judge.
