At the same time, I knew AI was the hottest buzzword in computer science of the decade, so any attempt would surely impress the examiner enough to squeeze out a few more marks, right?How right I was. The program was brilliant. It was beautiful. It worked. My classes were integrated like a well-oiled machine. My functions slid together like jigsaw pieces. My comments were like poetry.I not only received 100%, but I'm the only person to have done so at my college.And that's the problem.I didn't deserve it.Sure, the program worked, it did its thing. All of the technical requirements given by the teacher were met. But it felt… uncomfortable.I didn't know what was wrong with it. When designing it, I felt like I was cheating. My methods worked a treat, but my intuition said they shouldn't. When coding it, I expected it to break, but it didn't.So why do I feel so guilty?To start with, I'm not the best computer scientist amongst my cohort. Of the 60 people in my year, I'm not even top 5. The most gifted guy in the year scored 67/75. He made his own messaging service using C++, complete with server-client communication, encryption, an interface, etc. 67/75 is a fantastic score of course, but 8 less than mine. Why?I even included the word ‘rudimentary' in my project title to show the examiner that I'm aware it's basic. The worst thing a student can do is make the examiner think the sun shines out of your arse.But now, I think I know the problem. It goes back to what I said earlier about squeezing marks out of the project simply because it sounds impressive.AI is certainly impressive. The folks at Google, DeepMind, Facebook and IBM are some the world's greatest architects for humanity's next technological revolution. No doubt.But what I did? It was all right. The fact it worked was cool, but if you opened the bonet expecting to find a roaring engine, you'd find a little green man in a hamster wheel with a very sheepish grin.I believe I was given the grade I did based on the ambition and the idea, not the technicality. Sure, I delivered the product, but it was the audacity of the project that bagged me the marks.…and to me, that sums up people. It applies to all avenues of life. Look at Trump. He was ambitious and presented yuuuuge ideas. The technicalities of it? Laughable, but he still succeeded in clambering into the White House.Now look at Jonas Edward Salk. He discovered the cure for polio and could have made billions of dollars from it, but he chose not to so more people could access it and make the world a better place. He is the opposite of Trump; he thought about the technicality rather than trying to impress, and now nobody remembers or honours the man.Without being too cliché, I feel my project is a metaphor: to truly be successful with your work, you need to not only be ambitious and show great determination, but actually be able to deliver. I am completely qualified to answer this. I am the only deaf person in the entire family tree of mine.  From my parents point of view, it was scary and confusing for them, not because of the disability but because they didn't know how to guide me or how to bring me up. But luckily, they received tons of supports and so they somehow found the right persons to connect and help me be the person I am today. They know I am also human, and never actually treated me differently. Maybe that's the reason I never knew I was different in the early stages of my life. After repeatedly contact with the outside world, only I did come to know that we weren't the same as others. I infact, believed that all of us, normal hearing and deaf people used to talk with lips movement like I just did. When we all were kids, my cousins and other friends of mine used to whisper stuffs into my ears, like everyone does. I used to feel puzzled that what are they saying, I used to let it off. I thought it's nothing. Later only I realised its people were talking about something. That time I made sure to let people know to talk face to face and not to whisper into my ears, as it would have been of no use.  Basically it's both a rewarding experience as well as a learning experience for me. It's then I realised that I do have parents and family as supports, but I can't expect them to find all the answers for me as they are also learning it along with me. I had to learn to find those by myself. They (my parents and my close family) have tried their best to make my life easier, by talking in English to me, and conversing to me with the help of social medias like WhatsApp, messaging. They even try to ensure if subtitles are happening for the particular movie we plan to watch in theatre. My aunts (like my parent's sisters, or their brother's wife) try their best to converse with me in English, and they keep lamenting for not having learnt proper English. I try my best to convince them that's it's alright, I really appreciate their efforts. It's actually my family who has been really supportive in this journey of mine. I do thank god for having received an amazing family. My parents let me know beforehand, that I would definitely have to do hardwork, but I always left it aside. Now though I know the value of hardwork. I used to believe that if I weren't deaf, my life would be easier. But then I realised, life being easier isn't full of sunshine, it tends to get boring after a while. Came to the conclusion that life should be a mixture of Hardwork and relaxation too. Every single and small achievements of mine are recorded in my family mind. Few Hindi words spoken is a delight for them. Or if I achieve something related to hearing stuff, they express their happiness. They know it's not taken for granted. Couple of things happened after I joined this family. ->Made English language a part of daily conversations, not just Hindi. ->Let everyone know that I am actually normal, and made me comfortable in the atmosphere.  ->Taught me to live comfortably and manage in this world.->Taught that impossible is just a word. ->Even my younger brother looks up to me, I don't think he knows that I actually have a disability. ->Learnt that I am a good human being.  ->Learnt that family and close friends will stand by you, for anything. ->Oh yeah, how could I forget the overprotective shell I am in, created by my parents.  Basically it's an amazing journey for me.

Yesterday only I got conned and realized it today. And I hope people read this and don't get conned the way I did.So yesterday while going out with my parents, my dad pointed out that my car's front bumper had got some scratches on the driver side, and how he had gotten​ all the scratches fixed few months back in a Maruti service station and how they charge so much and everything.On our journey to home, we stopped to get the fuel tank refilled. And in a side passage of that petrol pump few people were selling something. While we were waiting for our turn at the pump, one of the guys approached my dad and said that they were selling some stain removing kit and it would also clear the scratches on my car and that he'd like to give a demo.Now we already had few scratches here and there on my car and a free demo was only going to reduce them so we agreed to have a demo of that kit. And went to that guy for a demo.Now while we were getting our fuel tank refilled, there was another person about the age of 60 with his white Hyundai verna getting a demo and we saw that he purchased couple of those kits.Now that guy started giving us a demo on our car. There was a small bottle from which he got some creamy white fluid on the area where there were scratches and started rubbing it in circular motion and well the scratches did disappear.He told us that he would give us the entire kit which actually costed about 1500Rs. just for 800Rs. that being promotional price. And also that he would remove all the scratches from my car using that kit only right there.That kit contained a spray bottle which was to be used after removing scratches to clean extra fluid and some other bottle which would prevent scratches and the other one would clean stains from dashboard and windshield.While he was doing this, I checked those containers and turns out that no ingredients were written on any of those bottles and just the name and directions to use the kit was written on them. I also asked him about what was in those bottles but all he said was cleaning fluids.That kit looked similar to this. Image has been taken from GoogleSo we agreed and bought that with hesitation and he removed most of the stains and scratches from my car using half of the kit that we had bought.Now today, I googled it and realized that the white creamy fluid was unscented toothpaste, the sprayer bottle to use to clean that white fluid was water and the third sprayer bottle apparently had nothing more than toothpaste water.Well for that which didn't contain anything more than half of a small Colgate, water and a sponge I was charged 800Rs. I am not sure if he had joined hands with thay petrol pump or had just asked them to use the empty place. But it seemed they were not allowed to interrupt petrol pump's work.But whatever it was, I had been scammed and I think there must have been many more people like me who got scammed, as it was Sunday and that is a usually busy Petrol pump.I feel stupid.And I also wonder how much that guy would be making by duping people.But guys please don't fall prey to such con-men.And if you don't trust me, you can Google to find out how toothpaste helps with scratch and stain removing and preventing scratches.
