How is HelloFax different from EchoSign?
The answer is similar to the Why is Dropbox more popular than other programs with similar functionality? [ https://www.quora.com/Why-is-Dropbox-more-popular-than-other-programs-with-similar-functionality ] question[1], the crux of which is that normal people don't want a Comprehensive Software Solution Package. They want a tool that does something for them. Dropbox: There is a folder and you put files in it. It syncs. HelloFax: You upload a file and sign it. It sends. Let's say you are a harried entrepreneur who is incorporating his/her company, and finds that s/he needs to sign and fax back the final documents. You just want to get this done as fast as possible and you don't want to drive to Kinkos, so you start looking online for a solution. Try going to EchoSign's webpage: http://www.echosign.com/ Now look at HelloFax: https://www.hellofax.com/ Which one looks more intimidating? Do you want an electronic signature solution or do you just want to sign it and be done with this "fax" problem? When someone asks me to fax something back, I don't think "Ah! This situation calls for an electronic signature! A web application that facilitates electronic signatures would be just the ticket!" Instead, I think, "WTF you neanderthal, why do you still have a fax machine?" I just want to get my signature onto that document, which I already have on my computer, and send it off to them. Most people requesting a "fax" will take a PDF via email, which HelloFax can send, or if they really are neanderthals, they will have an actual fax number, and HelloFax can send it there too. That's all I know and understand, and I need a simple service that transparently does this. HelloFax does it; I have no idea if EchoSign can even send something to a fax number or, from their website, exactly what they do[2]. [1] Fun tip: click on the "more" link showing the "votes by" for Michael Wolfe's answer on that page. [2] Edited: Antone Johnson's answer does a good job explaining what EchoSign is all about.

What are the best apps for personal document management?
There are many apps for personal document management, and consumers can choose between them depending on what fits their style and budget. It’s easy to think that a setting up a personal document management system is hard, but in reality, it is as easy as one tap. Many companies are moving to the cloud- for security, collaboration, and ease of access across apps. Even IT administrators find it easier to use cloud apps to keep their data safe. It is easy for anyone to do at home as well. Take Document 365 by Kdan Mobilefor example, which allows you to harness business apps and productivity on any device. Disclaimer, I am a part of Kdan’s team. At just $5 per license, and a free trial, 1 TB of storage, and app compatibility across all devices with over 50M users, never has there been a better time than now to get started with a cloud document management suite like Document 365. Try it out personally. Many users find the PDF editing to be the best out there. If you spend time getting agreements and contracts signed at work, try e-signing with PDF reader, and forget about printing, signing, scanning, and faxing. If you need to fax, try it from the app, no need for the fax machine anymore. If you’re not using a cloud suite, or you are looking to upgrade at home or work, Try the app of the year on the Google Play Store Document 365 by Kdan Mobile.

Which open source software helps in signing documents?
When you said ‘Signing Documents’ the software that came to my mind was signNow, but since you asked for open-source, these are some of the alternatives. They can be found here [ http://alternativeto.net/software/signNow/?license=free ]. Source: Rolustech Blog [ https://www.rolustech.com/blog ]

When are digital signatures valid, and when are "wet signatures" required? Is there a difference between digital markup on PDF o
For the most part, signatures are not required at all to form a contract, nor are they part of rather legal arrangement between parties. Rather, they are proof that: * the two parties did in fact come to an agreement. Witnesses, communications records, the history of the parties’ acts, and many other things could prove this, but two parties engaging in a formal signing process is much more efficient and conclusive * the two parties intended to be bound to promises they were making each other, and it wasn’t just negotiation, chatter, offers, or statements of intent. Shaking hands, stomping three times on the ground, reciting a prayer, and other demonstrative acts would also work, but in most cases are not an accepted standard, and are harder to implement. * the parties are identified. This goes both to authenticity (the document is real and identity (the parties endorsing it are who they say they are, and are acting on their own behalf or on behalf of a business entity, client, or charge they represent). Other forms of ID, like notaries, witnesses, video records, could work, and documents and signatures can be forged, but a signature, properly authenticated, is simple low cost way to make contracts more trustworthy. Given that a signature isn’t really necessary at all, in principle at least there is not really any difference between a wet signature, a signature via a document service like signNow, a scanned PDF, clicking “I accept”, typing out “/s [signature]”, or any other means. Any requirement is not really based on fundamental principles, but the specific circumstances of the transaction. * Sometimes the parties insist on one particular type of signature before they will do business with each other. Banks and government agencies sometimes insist on a physical signature, or an online signature done through their own in-house system, in order to process a document. You can sometimes fool them with a good digital signature, and they’ll accept the document anyway, in which case no harm no foul. But they’re free to reject it. * Similarly, there may be a custom in a particular realm of business, law, or life. For example, many old school investors only trust wet signatures on paper, thought this is dying out as of the late 2010s. * It could be written into a contract, or an offer, or policy, etc., that only a particular mode of signing is valid. * In a few cases there is a legal requirement to have a wet ink signature, or at least a signature, depending on the specific law. In the United States (and probably many other places) real estate transfers, copyright licenses, wills, and other things require an actual signature. E-signature laws often specify that any kind of signature will do, as a default, unless the law specifically requires one kind of signature or another. There really aren’t any signature standards in the US, just like there’s no standard for how you’re supposed to shake hands or say “I do.” As Europeans like to do, the digital signature standards are much more specific over there. There’s probably an ISO (International Organization for Standardization [ https://www.quora.com/topic/International-Organization-for-Standardization ]) rule for how to wake up, pet your dog, and make coffee in the morning. But the US attitude is whatever does the job will work. FWIW, there is a custom of signing things in blue ink to demonstrate that it is a real signature. Red or green would do but they look a little silly on a contract. Thus, when I apply a digital signature to things I usually make it blue.

What are the best open or free e-readers for PDFs?
If you are using Android I recommend EBookDroid. It is free, but not open source (it used to be). It is highly functional and customisable, and I find it useful for reading on smaller devices - the auto page trim works well. I find it offers the best overall reading experience. It also supports DJVU, which is in many ways a preferable format to PDF.If you want to edit PDFs, I would suggest Xoxo PDF Reader & Editor.

Frequently asked questions
How do i add an electronic signature to a word document?
When a client enters information (such as a password) into the online form on , the information is encrypted so the client cannot see it. An authorized representative for the client, called a "Doe Representative," must enter the information into the "Signature" field to complete the signature.
How do you do an electronic signature in good docs?
What is the proper way to do this? Can you show me one?
What about a "paper trail" which is an electronic signature, but with some extra paperwork?
A "paper trail" is an important part of digital signatures. It allows people to verify the signature by looking for the signature itself and for the date it was made. If we had no paper trail, a hacker can just sign whatever they like without checking any dates or signatures.
It is important to remember that it is possible to create a "bad" file, and to do this, we need to check how it was generated. An example for a bad file would be a file with the word "crickets" in it.
It's not hard to create a "bad" signature. If somebody is trying to commit a crime, they might write the wrong code, or sign their name backwards. But a hacker could also use a machine to make a copy of a file and then change its file size. If we had no paper trail, it's hard to know which file changed how often. If we had a "paper trail" then we could be sure that a change in file size was not just done by accident.
It's also important to remember that the person who does the "bad" file may already be a hacker and trying to pass themselves off as a person who was a hacker.
You have two possible choices to check the paper evidence: (1) get in touch with the person who made the file and ask him for his evidence; or (2) get in touch with the person who signed the file for his evidence.
This was a question originally posed on Stackoverflow. It can be solv...
How to test electronic signature online?
We are providing the following information about online signatures in order to help you better understand how to test electronic signatures online:
How to test electronic signatures online
The first step in the procedure is to create an eSignature online using the online signature generator.
To sign a document using eSignature software, you must be logged in to the website and select the "Sign online" option from the Sign In page.
When you sign, the signature is saved as electronic data on our server. This data can't be read by any software other than the online signature generator.
Once you complete all of the necessary steps, the eSignature generator prompts you to verify that you're the person you claim to be.
Once that's done, the digital signature generator will print a PDF file (the digital signature) of the signatures on your behalf.
Note: The digital signature is saved on our server until the end of the registration period (usually about 7 days after the registration is complete).
What is the digital signature for?
The digital signature is used to prove that the signature you sign represents you personally.
You should print a paper copy of the document and keep it in a safe place (such as your desk). Keep the printer's receipt with you.
The digital signature is also used to prove that the document that's saved digitally was actually signed by you. If you sign an online document using a third-party software, the digital signature is used to confirm that t...
