How can we help Sikhs to do a 2020 referendum and give them freedom?
A Pakistani here so I’ll be only covering the Pakistani perspective that how this 2020 referendum for Khalistan may impact along with its consequences. Before I move ahead, my Pakistani and Indian friends should view this map so It could have better understanding while reading this response. This is map of Sikh Empire (yellow marked) before British occupation of United India. The map of Khalistan will be on the basis of those territories which were under rule of Maharaja Ranjit Singh if I’m not mistaken. If I summarize it.Approx 70 cent of Khalistan’s territory will be from Pakistan.Khalistan...

What actually happens in a UPSC interview?
I have had the opportunity of giving 'THE UPSC INTERVIEW' twice, one in 2016 and other in 2017. Both the time I had the same board headed by former Air Marshal Ajit Bhonsale.I was awarded pretty good scores both the times, 184 (in 2016) and 187 (in 2017) :)Before I answer what happens in UPSC interview, let me break some myths.MYTHSInterview questions are not like the whatsapp forwards you recieve. Example : How to throw egg from a building without breaking it?Interview is not a system of rejection or acceptance. It is just a part of whole process , your written marks are added in your interview score to determine your rank. So you may have high written score but low interview marks can mar your chances of rank and vice versa.Interview is not a test of your knowledge. Knowledge has already been tested in written examination. Interview is test of your personality and confidence. Obviously questions are asked to test your confidence but if you don't know the answer you can say “I don't know sir/ma'am” confidently instead of bluffing. You have to be truely honest. Some interview boards are dreaded due to myth that they give low marks but I think every board has its range of marks( Bhonsale Sir board is dreaded but he awarded me good marks both the times). It is just that every board chairman has probably different parameters and ways of testing you. For example : Ajit Bhonsale sir will make you really comfortable but sometimes when you become very comfortable you let yourself loose and commit blunders. On other hand B.S. Bassi sir is very strict ( I have heard) , puts in you in spot for the first few minutes. His strategy is maybe to check you during tough times.UPSC interview is not like a roadies audition. All the members of the board are highly cordial.BEFORE UPSC INTERVIEWNight before the interview is really tough. There are butterflies in your stomach. There is soo much going on in your head that sleeping becomes a task.On the day of interview it becomes quite a task for us girls because we have to tie a saree. My mom was with me so she helped me with that but handling the saree gracefully is your task. I want to tell you that I wore the same green colour saree for both my interviews because after my first interview I thought it was lucky for me :)2016 interview2017 interview ( 5 kg lighter!!)Once you signNow UPSC office on Shahjahan road , you are made to stand in a line outside the gate for verification by showing summon letters. For me this moment for the first time was in 2016 and it was really mesmerizing. I was like Aamir Khan ’s character in “3idiots” movie where he couldnt stop smiling because it felt like a dream. After all verification candidates are made to sit in a room for document verification. There are 6 tables with 6 candidates each. All the 6 candidates on one table go to same interview board. After document checking candidates are moved to a central hall. Here we are finally told which board we are assigned.Candidates are called one by one for the interview and headed towards respective members 's rooms. A candidate is called 5 minutes before the previous candidates 's interview is over. So you are made to sit outside the interview room. This is the most unnerving moment. My strategy used to be: to sit and gaze around so that I don't think about the impending interview and calming myself in the process. And finally after few minutes the peon asks you to GO INSIDE!!DURING THE INTERVIEWHere I will narrate my 2017 CSE interview held on 24 th April 2018:I entered the room I wished everyone good afternoon ( it was around 1:30 pm ). I was asked to take seat. The interview board had chairman (Air Marshal Ajit Bhonsale Sir in my case) and 4 other members seated around a table. There was a member seating very close to me and watching my every action, most probably he was psychoanalysist or something like that.So finally the interview started :CHAIRMANChairman : Shilpa sit down. Feel comfortable. Take a deep breath. I see a young and smart lady in front of me who has a very good academic background. Are you nervous?Me: No sir ( I smiled)CHAIRMAN : Ok then we will start with the interview.Which areas you are expecting that we would ask from DAF ( detailed application form , it is like a CV which contains information about you, your qualification, your hobbies etc).Me: Sir about my graduation i.e. BDS , my birthplace Chandigarh and hobbiesChairman : What do you derive from making greeting cards? ( Apart from reading , teaching/ mentoring , I mentioned “making handmade greeting cards” as my hobby in DAF)Me: Sir, it is a form of creative expression for me which gives me immense pleasure.Chairman : Ok shilpa.MEMBER 1M1 : What are your views on death sentence for rape accused in case victim is below 12 years? Accused are generally known to victim in cases of child abuse cases.Me : Sir ,you are right. NCRB records state that in child sexual abuse cases 94% of accused are known to victim. This may lead to non reporting or victim turning hostile due to pressure from family.Secondly, death penalty is not a deterrent. It has been proven from many reports.Thirdly , now rape and murder have same punishment so now the rapist will not leave his victim alive .(M1 : good point Dr. Shilpa)M1 : Have you heard about euthanasia? What is the recent SC judgement.Me: Euthanasia in common terms means mercy killing. It is of two types : active and passive euthanasia. Recently SC has allowed passive euthanasia in case patient is in permanent vegetative state.M1: Who decides it is time for euthanasia?Me: Sir , It consists of three layered mechanism . A mechanism for living will has been given which is accessed by the doctor. If he feels that there is need for go ahead the permission is send to a special medical board which consists of four specialists. After approval it is forwarded to district collector.M1: What is living will?Me: It is a directive by a patient that in due course of his treatment if stops responding to treatment or is in permanent vegetative state he be considered for passive euthanasia.MEMBER 2M2 : Comment on our relations with our neighbours with respect to Bangladesh , Nepal.Me: Sir , Neighbourhood first policy has been major component of our foreign policy.Good relations with Bangladesh for example recently land boundary agreement was signed very amicably. There is just one irritant in form of teesta water treaty.Nepal we have historical and cultural ties. 'BETI AND ROTI' ka rishta. A buffer state. But due to unprecedented foray of China into south asia and Nepal playing China card due to its domestic compulsions , relations have taken toll right now.( I wanted to summarize but M2 said ok shilpa fine)M2 : Chinese president XI Xingping and PM modi will be meeting recently. Where?ME: Sir there will be an informal meeting in City of Wuhan , China. Here wide array of issues will be discussed.M2 : China is saying it will be sharing data on satluj river. What is that?ME: Sir basically hydrological data. Water levels and dams to be constructed.M2: Sociolgists are better administrators. Why? (Sociology is my optional subject)ME: Sir, it is basically study of social groups , social institutions and their dynamics. And as civil servant you are basically dealing with these institutions and groups. For eg : as a sociologist one knows laws decide where society SHOULD GO but Societal norms decide where society actually GOES. It serves a great value as a civil servant.MEMBER 3M3 : Dr. Bhatti you were talking about China right now. How are we same ?How does it poses a danger how India is responding? Can we learn something from China?( it was a long question so I broke it into parts)Me: China and India are same with respect to thriving economies. China is second largest economy in terms of nominal GDP and India is 7th.Both are populous nations with huge human capital potential.Dangers : China 's unprecedented foray into South Asia. Increasing footprint in Indian ocean.Learn from China: China has emerged as workshop of world. Its manufacturing sectors contributes around 34% to its GDP where India its just 17% ( Member said good Dr.Bhatti)MEMBER 4M4 : Social media is turning a place for spreading wrong news and all ( long lecture) . How to address this?Me: Sir in the post truth era social media is turning into menance where fake news are being spread. (M4 interuppts)M4 : You used word post truth. Very interesting word. What is that?Me: Sir it is an era where facts are considered less and beliefs and emotions shape the public opinion.M4 : Very good Shilpa. Continue with your answer. How to address?Me: Sir we can address first at legal level. For eg : EU has .......( M4 interuppts.)M4: Shilpa talk at a more local level. Like you are Chandigarh DC.Me: Sir first we can use social media itself. These days every administration has official twitter , FB accounts. From this we can give correct info n allay fears.Secondly in Chandigarh during Ram Rahim case SMS were sent as precaution. We can use this platformThirdly , involving civil society to create awareness to not accept any news at face value before confirming it from standard source.M4 : Did you choose Medical field by choice ? You are no longer pursuing it?Me: Sir , Civil services was always on my mind but idea wasn't very concrete at that time. I choose medical field because of my love for science and I have always performed good in academics. Also while working as a dentist I realized that civil services gives much larger platform to bring a change plus job diversity it offers is unparallelled.CHAIRMANCHAIRMAN : Tell me where woman bureaucrats or officers in general can be of great help?Me : Sir , in police administration for example if the cutting edge officers or bureaucrats in general are woman we can make our police services more gender sensitive.Chairman : yes ok. Continue.Me: Sir I cant think of other areas right now.(Chairman smiled and said ok)CHAIRMAN : Ok Shilpa tell me one last question before we go for lunch. You have heard about tussle between delhi chief secretary and chief minister?Me: yes sir.CHAIRMAN : So now bureaucrats blame its ministers who hamper work and politician blame bureaucrats. What to do?Me: Sir the permanent executive and the elected executive has work in tandem.CHAIRMAN : Yes tell me solution?Me: Following SOP and due process of law.Secondly, Sir transperant administration. Egovernance to cut down bureaucratic red tapism and also ensuring the executive is pro active in various people centric schemes or policies.Thirdly , we can have informal meetings in form of ‘chintin shivirs' or organising sports events for breaking the ice and acting as confidence building measures.CHAIRMAN : Ok Shilpa your interview is over. So now you will go back to Chandigarh or stay back.Me: Sir I will stay back for medical and leave on 26th.Chairman : Ok. Thank you Shilpa.Me: Thank you Sir. ( I thanked other member too)Interview lasted around 25 minutes. Members were extremely cordial and I had a feeling that it went well. And I got a good score of 187 :) I was able to secure 712 rank UPSC CSE 2017 and currently Iam preparing for rank improvement :)I hope this answer conveyed what happens in UPSC interview :)

I'm 26 and always wanted to be an entrepreneur. I tried a couple of ideas, but failed. Is it a good idea to switch back to a job
Very well written by Chapley. The best part :If you can dream it, you can do it is total BS. It is a half truth with a major stipulation attached to it. You have to work, sacrifice, and sometimes crawl through the worst of the worst to succeed. When I read your question, I was able to establish an instant connection. This is what I was asking myself few months back. Let me share my story with you briefly.I'm from India & almost your age. After graduating as a Computer Engineer in 2010, I soon joined a reputed MNC as a programmer. Being new to the corporate world, I was very excited about my first job. I started off really well & my work was regularly appreciated by my manager, colleagues & clients. It was pretty much a routine work every day - understand the client requirements, negotiate the timelines, generate reports & finally deliver to the client. I got my first promotion after an year & that was the time I decided to get a car loan. I was able to afford the loan EMI, but had to cut on few other expenses. So, just the way I was excited about my new job an year back, the same way I was excited about my new car. Days passed by & I got another promotion after an year. You can say, at that time I had a stable life : a comfortable job, a nice car & pretty much what a guy of my age needs. This was sometime in the middle of 2012.Now let me go back in time... (Flashback : July 2010).A well-known Indian daily newspaper announced a country-wide contest wherein aspiring entrepreneurs could submit their ideas in a given format & they would be mentored & funded if they cleared the selection process. I was done with my university exams in June & was about to join the MNC in August. So, this was the time when I decided to give this contest a try. I had no prior start-up experience & no one in my family is an entrepreneur. After visiting the contest website, I got really inspired & spent some days thinking about what business can I do. After doing a lot of research for couple of weeks, I created a business plan to set-up a gaming cafe which would later have franchisees in different cities. It included big investment to rent space & buy gaming consoles & then the marketing stuff. Still I believed in my plan & submitted it. The result : Rejected. They did not even send me any feedback on my business plan which they promised during submission. :)What did I learn? - How not to make a business plan. But, instead of brainstorming, the mistake I made was that I told myself - "Let me join the MNC next month (August 2010) & after a couple of years when I'll have a strong network & some savings, I'll start working on a good business idea." (you can relate this to your present situation)By now you know where did those savings go? A car (EMI & fuel), an expensive smartphone & some other gadgets, not to mention the weekend parties with my colleagues. Now coming back to 2012...One fine day I was surfing the net & bumped into an advertisement : the same contest in which I participated before joining the MNC. I felt some guilt, did some self-talk, but then instead of participating in the contest, I decided to present my plan to my two colleagues who also wanted to do something of their own. Within a week we formed a team & started tweaking the plan. Days passed by & everyday we just had "discussions" & on-paper plans with very little or no execution (many of my friends are still making paper plans for the last few months). Then a day came when one of those guys switched to some other company & the team fell apart. Within a couple of weeks the other colleague & I also lost interest in the idea. After a few months I got a lucrative job offer from another company which offered better salary & free cab. Without giving a second thought I switched. But still I decided to give a try myself & launched a basic website for the business in December 2012. Few people on my social network got interested, asked questions & congratulated me. But, the workload in my new day job started to increase & I never touched the website again. So, you see, the thing was, I made multiple attempts to launch my start-up, but then it was always a half-assed attempt. The reason was, I always had a safety net around me - A well-paying comfortable job. My risk taking appetite was decreasing. I was getting too comfortable with my life. After a few months (October 2013), one day I looked at myself into the mirror & noticed that I have dark circles under my eyes, stress visible on my face & an out-of-shape tummy. I was over-worked. I was not working for myself. One day I bumped into this quote:This quote made an impact on me.That day I pledged to myself - "No half-assed stuff & no procrastination".But one thing I would like to tell you here. I'm an avid reader & start-up world inspires me a lot. Due to this reason I made it a point to read good stuff & increase my knowledge as the days passed. I read everything : business magazines, start-up blogs & even attended many start-up events where entrepreneurs pitch their start-ups to investors & you get a chance to build your network as well. So, I had the fuel, just needed to ignite it this time. :)From then (October 2013) onwards, I used to work on my start-up after office & on weekends. I limited my spending on gadgets, branded clothes & stuff like that. But, this day job + start-up thing came at a cost - my health. For a couple of months I was able to manage, but then since this time I was actually executing the idea, so it was tough. The company was 40 km (25 miles) away from my home & it used to take me about 3.5 hours daily for commute. I became sleep deprived as well. I'm not saying that it's almost impossible to build your start-up while keeping your day job, but it didn't work for me. So, what I'm expressing here is just my own experience & personal views. After having worked for almost 3.5 years in the corporate, I had saved a bit (I seriously started saving when I switched to the second company). So, I decided to take the leap of faith & by the end of 2013, I quit my day job & went full time on my start-up. First couple of months were scary. The start-up wasn't generating revenues & I had bills to pay. It's not generating revenue now as well. The bank balance wasn't increasing anymore as I had no alternate source of income. But, as per my calculations I had enough savings to survive for the next one year.I would not advise anyone to do something like this unless you have sufficient savings! Please, think thrice! Now it's been almost five months since I quit my day job. I get couple of job offers every fortnight, but I'm focused on my start-up now. Over the next two months we some positive signs & if all goes well, it'll be one of the happiest moments of my life! You're just 26 my friend & this is the time when your risk taking appetite should be really very high! You are talking about going back to your day job & then try to build your dream after 2 or 3 years! You'll be almost 30 then, maybe you'll get married (if you're single now) & who knows you might become a parent by then. At that time will it be easier for you to leave your day job, ignore your family & build your start-up? Ask this question to yourself, calculate your savings & then you'll be able to take the right decision.Feel free to connect here for any help.Cheers!

What is it about you that makes you undateable?
IMPORTANT UPDATE: I have got a lot of negative feedback after posting this answer, from people who assumed I am an attention seeker, a loser or a date magnet. The truth is that I have only posted an answer to a Quora question, I have never requested a date on Quora (this is not a dating site), nor begged for comments. Simple as that. You ask, I answer. I even mentioned that I don’t want to date. What I posted here is feedback taken from my friends when I asked them what would put them off about me. I did not answer this question before asking them. I genuinely thought these are things that put people off, and less than 10% of the commenters have admitted this. The problem is that people doesn’t realize the gravity of things unless they face the situation themselves. _________________________________________I believe there are quite a few things that make me undateable.Physical matters:My teeth are crooked. Most people around me find this weird and scary, and I tried to straighten them so many times…they get back crooked.I have been skinny all my life, there was not a moment when I passed the 45 kg/1.62 m threshold, no matter how much I eat. Apparently, that puts guys off.I have small breasts and small hips/buttocks.I am a bit disproportionate (shorter legs than normal and a longer torso).2. Mental matters:I have ADHD on the attention deficit side (yes, I was diagnosed by a specialist).I am a Star Wars geek, I collect Star Wars stuff and I’m all gaga about Star Wars (I am also an admin of the Romanian Star Wars fan club). Apparently, most guys think I’m a weirdo because of this.I have these freedom issues, I feel suffocated if someone expects me do something I cannot do at the respective moment and I also need my space.I read. A lot. Mostly geeky stuff, like articles about astronomy, science, flora, fauna and human behavior. If I try to discuss what I read, it’s a no-no.I tend to correct people (in a gentle way) if they said or did something wrong. This ranges from grammar to moral mistakes. Apparently, guys feel like I hurt their pride if I try to correct them.I am a details freak, I am very careful about details and a perfectionist. This, again, pisses guys off.I am a good organizer, which makes some guys think that I am a bossy person.I am shy by nature, so I will almost never make a first step to a date. The few times I tried, I ended up rejected and miserable.I am multi-talented (I can sing, paint, write, solve quite a few types of problems, act and organize events), this has led to a guy telling me that he doesn’t feel like he rises to my level and he feels out of my league (I have no problem with dating guys who aren’t multi-talented, I value kindness and openness more).UPDATE 1 : Sorry for omitting a few more items on my list, but I got distracted and couldn’t focus on writing anymore. I shall write them later.Thank you for your support and for believing that I am not at all undateable. I have to say, though, that I really thought these are matters who make people cringe, as 3 guys told me in the past 3 years. I had 2 relationships during my life, both guys said that they feel tired after interacting with me, although I am not an extrovert. They too mentioned these traits of mine, especially the ADHD symptoms (they did not know at that time, nor did I, that I have ADHD, I was diagnosed 5 years ago, way after I stopped dating, and everything came back to me afterwards). I felt really depressed and I was almost on the verge of suicide, but eventually I got some medication, I came to terms with my situation and embraced it. Now I am looking to turn all my ADHD related traits into advantages. I am now happily single and I do not feel the need to have a partner anymore.UPDATE 2 :I promised I would continue the list, so here it is:I complain when something makes me unusually angry or unpleasant. I feel the need to blurt it out on front of someone who can listen to me, but turns out not everybody can listen.(I originally thought this isn’t a problem anymore, but yesterday I found out it is) I do not shave, wax or remove any hair from my body, I prefer to be natural. And clean.I don’t want to have sex before marriage. That’s one of the reasons I am still single. I might not have a really innocent past (nobody has), but I want to save the best for my future signNow other, if there will be one.I have some insecurities. I have been heavily bullied during school, so I grew up believing I am one of the worst human beings on the planet. I don’t believe that anymore now, but I still have doubts about me sometimes.I am brutally honest sometimes. If I have to say something, I say it straight, no detours. It may hurt, but it’s the truth. In a relationship, I always look for something serious. I am serious and I do look for a lifelong mate. This scares the shit out of guys.I have daily showers, even twice a day. They take time and volumes of water. Whoever lets me stay for a few days at their house (except my good friends) complains about me wasting a lot of water on my showers and baths and how much they have to pay for the water.I always have a disorganized room. I’m not talking about putting kitchen stuff in my room or other similar twisted things, I just don’t pack things like most people do. My wardrobe is a [clean] mess, except the clothes that need to stay tidy on hangers - I wouldn’t like to wear a wrinkly shirt at a job interview (sorry for the confusion - someone mentioned in a comment that they do like people who can tidy up; well, this is not my case. When I said I am a good organizer, I referred to time, not space - that means events and time related matters, not my own room).I am a mostly visual person, so I learn the place of things and get used with where they are. If someone tries to tidy up my room, they lose all my stuff and I have to look for them, wasting a lot of precious time. It’s frustrating and I complain about this if someone does it. Just let it as it is.I live at countryside. Apparently this leads some people to believe that I am less educated, less clean and less feminine than people who live in the cities. Also, guys from the cities won’t date a girl at countryside because they feel obliged to spend a lot more money on their car fuel traveling to my place and they feel distance (even 12 km) is a problem.I have 3 cats and 2 dogs - guys usually have a thing for dogs, but they cringe when they see cats and how much hair they lose.UPDATE 3: Many of you guys sent me hundreds of messages on Quora and thank you for them. I have read them all, though I didn’t have time to reply them all. I want to make it clear that I don’t want to date anyone at the moment, and I will NEVER date online, as identities, thoughts and intentions might be compromised via the internet and I would prefer to be close to someone in order to date him. Some of you have asked me what my ADHD symptoms are, so I will write them here, though it’s really difficult for me to do this.My symptoms are: - forgetting things, places or people very often (I have to keep a notebook for everything, even then I forget very much); - hypermoving (e.g. I start to walk or run in a circle when I run out of patience);- bumping legs onto the floor while sitting;- swinging uncontrollably when bored, either while sitting or standing up;- difficulty in focusing on anything for a long time;- lost in thoughts, can’t stop thinking about various stuff, most of my thoughts are unrelated to what I really want to think about;- can’t focus if someone talks to me directly (so I have to ask them as if I didn’t hear);- easily distracted;- I always play with something (hair, pencils or anything small) while listening to a speaker;- can’t read too many pages of a book in a row;- can’t focus seeing an entire 2 hours long movie, even though I love the movie. I have to see it on chunks or fragments 20–30 minutes each (depending on my mood);- can’t focus for too long in leisurely activities;- people have to touch me or pat my shoulder if I get lost in thoughts. On the other hand, I also have paradoxal symptoms like hyperfocus = I engage in an activity for so long, I even forget to eat, move away from one place, wash or respond to external stimuli for 1 to 3 days. This has been beneficial for me for a few times when I started studying for exams, but bad if I engaged in some useless activity.

What would you do if your spouse was moving in and you found out they were still married to their ex?
I moved him in after knowing him for 2 months. I “took” him away from his ex girlfriend. I just didn't realize, I was the new narcissist supply and she had just been discarded. Ive got to tell you, Ive never had the opportunity to talk to her to find out why.One evening, after 6 years of living and breathing each other, i casually logged into his Facebook. Yes, I had a reason not to trust him. I came across a message between him and this lady from Lubbock. It basically said, “No I dont want you back, but Id love to have some of that great sex we used to have”. I was devastated. I texted him something vague and he went in and changed his password. But not before I had copied and pasted the entire message….. Im not a stupid girl (very often) . He was working at a hotel and could actually manage to do something like that behind my back and Id never know he wasn't working late for any other reason than he was working late.I did some digging on the internet and found their MARRIAGE. Another devastation to me. He’d been married to her for 7 years. I started messaging her through his account, after he’d done some begging and had his mama talk to me, he gave me the password again. He stopped using Facebook at all after that, or AOL chat rooms.I gathered it was an ugly break up.I didn't find out until 6 years after that, that he was a narcissist. Until he discarded me for a new supply the exact same way he had done it to the ex before me.That hurts like a sonofabitch let me tell you.

What are reasons that I should not submit my DNA to a firm like 23andMe?
23andMe screens for the purposes of health, traits, and ancestry. From a health perspective, most of the data that you'll get isn't going to be useful. DNA isn't designed to be read like a book, and no company or research group is going to be able interpret the information for you because there's just not enough research yet to make definitive connections to many of the big diseases people are worried about (i.e., diabetes, heart disease, and depression). At the end of the day, just having the information isn't going to make it useful to you. Let's say, though, for argument's sake, that you do find that you have some well-researched predisposition to a disease like diabetes (the few studies are years away from being validated medically). Having a predisposition doesn't necessarily mean you'll get the disease. There's a lot of nurture that goes along with the genetics to an illness. In other words, if you eat an irresponsible diet high in processed sugars and fat and never exercise, chances are you're going to get diabetes even if you aren't genetically predisposed to it.It's true, though, that there are some diseases that have a clear genetic linkage. First of all, your doctor is going notice in your family history if said disease is wreaking havoc on your family tree. Secondly, many diseases with a clear genetic linkage present themselves early in life, often when patients are still quite young. You're probably not going to find a big nasty surprise buried in your genes. And even if you do find said nasty surprise, most doctors are not going to start treating you until your body actually starts showing symptoms. Most genetic diseases do not have a prophylactic treatment. And unfortunately there is also no special DNA laser that can zap your genetic code back to compliance.Health aside, there is the pressing question of the medical ethics of this sort of screening, especially when you start screening for traits. It has been standard practice for physicians to screen for genetic diseases in fetuses. Many ethical debates have used this guideline as the springboard for discussing designer babies and the genetics of traits. The types of screenings that 23andMe propose provide another step down the slippery slope to designer babies. Regardless of what an individual's final opinion on the subject is, it's important to understand that there is an ethical component to a general DNA screen.

Which is better to build a portfolio and get a job, Free Code Camp or Udacity nanodegree?
I feel like I am pretty much eligible to answer this question as I have used FreeCodeCamp for over 2 months and a friend of mine, took couple of nano-degrees courses in Udacity. We both started at the same time. You’re comparing FreeCodeCamp(Which is Web-Development Based) and Udacity (Which has lots of other courses other than Web Development). So let me talk about the Web-Development part only, i.e Full Stack NanoDegree on Udacity vs Free Code Camp.Udacity focuses on Python as their programming language and all the stuff you do, will be in python. They teach basic Object Oriented Programming’s introduction and then teach some of the basics of Databases(SQL). If you’re new to databases, you surely will miss a lot of stuff. They want you to have a bit of previous programming knowledge in python as well. Their main resource is “videos”, but you don’t really learn enough by watching stuff, unless you try it yourself. He has a lot of troubles finding help for some of his problems, and usually get demotivated. Their curriculum is 9 month long, and almost about 6 hours a week, even if I calculate, it’s about 220+ hours, that’s around 10 times less than FCC. They ask you to pay 200$ per month for straight 9 months, but well, no one can guarantee you for your job unless you really work hard.FreeCodeCamp on the other hand teaches everything you need to know, and it has a nice and well-structured curriculum. It covers everything you need to know in HTML, CSS, Bootstrap and jQuery, and moves forward with a nice pace. It has an interactive platform where you write the code in each challenge, and test it. They have some cool projects for us that take a lot of time, and if you complete all of those projects, you will already have a nice portfolio. FCC has many beginner/intermediate/advanced algorithm challenges that help us to improve our approach to a problem. They keep the things interesting. FCC’s community is really very very active. You would get a reply within seconds, if not, in couple of minutes. FreeCodeCamp has been around for 620 days, and still, like Quincy Larson said, no one has yet received the Full-Stack certificate. FCC’s whole curriculum takes about 2080 hours to complete, compared to 200+ hours of Udacity, is a lot. And that too for Free!No one really promises to find you a job. It’s all up to you, if you’re willing to do everything that takes to be a web developer? Both are good, but if you need a more active community, if you want to work on more projects, if you want to help non-profits, if you want to enjoy coding and if you want to help others and that too for free, choose FreeCodeCamp(Learn to code and help nonprofits) else you are free to go for Udacity’s Nanodegree.

Is India changing?
On 18th January 2018, I was travelling by train from Kolkata (West Bengal) to Tinsukia (Assam). There were two elderly people, a family of four, a young man of my age and I in the compartment of a Sleeper Class bogie. As we were having a pleasant journey talking random things with co-passengers, we sniffed a smell of strong alcohol which was coming from the adjacent compartment. The people who were consuming alcohol were talking in a shamelessly loud voice not caring if the nearby passengers were getting disturbed or not. We did not say anything. They started drinking again openly at around 7PM. The elderly people had to cover their nose to avoid the smell. The nearby passengers were also too scared to talk to the men as they happened to belong from one of the Security Forces - they later turned out to be from the CISF (a Central Armed Police Force aka CAPF).I lost my patience, went to their compartment and requested them to stop drinking as the nearby people were getting disturbed. They said “okay”, but their tone didn't sound affirmative to me. I warned them that if they continue to drink, I will call the RPF (Railway Protection Force) and they may face serious consequences as consuming alcohol is banned in train. The train was at a station then. They started abusing me and threatened to hit me. All of them were drunk. I told them if they even try to touch me, they would be in serious trouble. One of the guys came and poked me hard on my shoulder. I knew it would be foolish to respond back the same way. I sat on my seat and requested them to stay seated. The crowd which had gathered dispersed away. People nearby were annoyed by the way they were talking. The CISF men were continuing to abuse me and I felt that they would literally beat me.Immediately, I sent a tweet to the Ministry of Indian Railways and called the Railway Security at 182 and told them my problem.“ Train No. 12525. S3 39 my seat no. A few police men beside my compartment are consuming alcohol and threatening to hit me in front of the RPF if I complain about them. “Then I got a series of replies,My fellow passengers were telling me to get down and change my seat at Guwahati Railway Station. They said “This is North-East. We are not sure the police will come or not.” The station was about to arrive. As soon as the train stopped at the platform, I saw officers from RPF, Government Railway Police (GRP), Movement Control Office(MCO) of the Army, and the squad party immediately boarding the train. They came to me and asked who the people were. I pointed towards them. When the RPF started interrogating the CISF men, they knew by their body language that they were drunk and by the way the were talking to such high officials. The officials came to know that they belonged to the CISF( Central Industrial Security Force). They said “ It's shame for us that our own men have lost their decency and discipline.”It felt like their attitude was put to shame. They gave a written apology. The officials asked me if I want to lodge an F.I.R. for verbally abusing (as I had an audio recording of our conversation) and they would lose their job. The Assam Police had said that if the complainant was a female, the media would have been called. I told not to lodge any F.I.R. and I was grateful to the police for their support. The police clicked photos of the men and I shaking hands and the report was sent to the higher authority. The squad party assisted me to change my seat to the other compartment and the RPF also called me the next day in the morning asking if I signNowed safely.Indeed, India is changing!Edit : Apologies for mentioning the “army” instead of the CISF in my tweet. Before tweeting, neither did I nor the passengers knew which category of the Security Forces they belonged to.
