this is now the beginning of unit two so we're turning the page everything that we did for unit 1 was foundational we did Constitutional Law we did the American court system and and how the courts work and the law in business and then we talked about tort law right we talked about personal injury law now we turn the page and we start getting it to the heart of business law we start talking about contracts okay and so as we look at contracts in this first chapter this chapter is going to give us an overview of what contracts are all about and the elements of a valid legal and forcible contract and so I'm going to start circling around and we're going to do this a number of times in the next five or six chapters where we will talk about a concept that we talked about before that way you begin to understand it this won't be the only time you see these things this will be the first time you see these things now for most of you you've never had a class in law you've never had some of this terminology and that's understandable and so we're going to take you from zero to hero alright in the next five or six chapters and you'll be well prepared for your career in business now contract law is fundamental to business you cannot operate a business without contract you cannot even no employee could work in a business without contracts a contract is simply promises back and forth that this is what we're going to do I'll post this this PowerPoint on here I customized this pretty heavily last night and I'll post this before I leave on my trip later today so you guys don't have to worry about copiously copping down every word on there but I do want you to to make sure you get a good understanding of this foundational principle so contract law is essential to business nobody could operate without it and it's basically just the promises that govern the relationships that we have so what are some examples of contracts in business you guys tell me just off the top of your head promises in business contracts in business what sorts of relationship dynamics do you foresee out in the business world what you think what's the first one that comes to your mind okay internal right pull that internal so you might have employees and employers okay what else I think I think if three major groups that be the first major group what else let's say we're going to make something that we sell that's most businesses right you tell you tell me poppy or dr. by use mr. popular Allyson uh you tell dr. poppy uh doc five have a great idea what is I'm going to start this business we're gonna make stuff and then sell it or more than costume naked hey...
