Where are cPanel backup files stored to by default?
Thanks for A2A Manuel!Backups from cPanel are stored in /backup folder. To access to it, you need to have SSH because access to this folder is restricted, by default. You can select the location in which you wish to store backups in the Configure Backup Directory section of Backup Configuration interface (Home > Backup > Backup Configuration).Note: You must provide an absolute path to the local backup directory.Use can also use the BACKUPDIR variable to retrieve the system's current setting from the /etc/cpbackup.conf and /var/cpanel/backups/config files, as in the following example (via: Backup Configuration FAQ? ):: awk '/BACKUPDIR/{print FILENAME": "NR": "$0}' /etc/cpbackup.conf /var/cpanel/backups/config /etc/cpbackup.conf: 8: BACKUPDIR /backup /var/cpanel/backups/config: 28: BACKUPDIR: /backup But I need to mention, that stored backups on the same server are not an excellent idea. I always recommend using third party services for making cloud backups. Great for that is Perfect Dashboard. It’s integrated with many popular CMS like WordPress or Joomla. During every backup, your files will be scanned for malware and custom changes in CMS Core. If you want to try it, you can sign up at PerfectDashboard.com and grab credits for testing.I hope that it helps. If so, please give me an upvote below. If you have any question, feel free to ask in comment.

What do you think about AliDropShip? Is this a better option than Shopify?
I will try to give some advantages and disadvantages of using these both dropshipping solutions. The main difference between these two is AliDropship has been especially created for aliexoress dropshipping when Shopify alone is created for inventory stores. Shopify requires additional plugins like Oberlo to work as a dropshipping solution.I will show you a simple comparison here starting from pricing before I discuss the features of AliDropship and Shopify.Wordpress CMS ($3.95 monthly), AliDropship ($66.00 one-time cost)Shopify CMS ($29, $79 & $299 per month) depending on the plan, Oberlo (free, $29.90, $79.90)Wordpress and AliDropship are so much cheaper than using Shopify and Oberlo. Other than this, Shopify is slightly easier to use, but I would by no means say that Wordpress is difficult once you’ve spent a few weeks using it.However, I’ll briefly touch on the AliDropship features here:All in all, I’ve heard some really great things about the AliDropship Plugin, I personally use it and find it incredibly useful! I mean just look at the Success Stories relating to stores that use it: Dropshipping Success Stories From Real Entrepreneurs using AliDropshipThe plugin itself comes in two versions, AliDropship Original Plugin & AliDropship Woo Plugin, both of which integrate with the Wordpress CMS, but the AliDropship Woo plugin is specifically designed to only be integrated with Woo-commerce Wordpress themes. The AliDropship Original Plugin is only compatible with Built-In ThemesNow, you may not either be interested in creating the store yourself, or may not simply know much about Wordpress and the functions… And that’s ok!AliDropship provide a ‘Custom Dropshipping Store’ service, in which they will create you a fully-operational store, that you can then go ahead and market. For more information on this and the range of pre-made store packages they have available.Otherwise, lets get back to the AliDropship plugin! There are multiple features of both the AliDropship Original Plugin & AliDropship Woo Plugin that make it ideal to have, these include:Pricing - Other than the majority of other services, AliDropship is a one-time payment of $88, but I’ve featured a link [25% off discount] so you can get it for $66 instead. This includes lifetime support!Comparing this to other services such as Shopmaster, Shopify etc, they come with monthly fees that can cost $20+ per month. So your one-time investment of $66 in AliDropship isn't much!Import featureProducts can be instantly imported from AliExpress with the click of a button using the AliDropship extension (which is a free chrome extension that integrates with AliDropship), alongside product reviews, which means that you can easily import these to your website, helping build trust and further increase your conversion rate.Product variables such as Size, Colour and others are easily added with the click of a button thanks to the AliDropship plugin, making the process of adding products more streamlined.Automated Price MarkupAutomatically track and price your products in relation to your supplier's costings, Yes AliDropship will take care of this automatically, every 15 minutes! This means that relational markups can be achieved as soon as your suppliers make price changes.Image EditingYou have the ability to import images directly from AliExpress, but some of the images that you import may have logos and other issues; Therefore with Alidropship you can edit these images before uploading to your store. You can edit such elements as:Size: Select the preferred size for the image by choosing the option that suits your needs most.Effects: Adjust lightning (brightness, contrast, etc.) in Lightning tab and find the perfect effect for your image in Effects tab.Select: Copy, move and remove selected image areas.Brush: Choose color and size of brush to draw anything you want.Text: Type in text for the image, adjust its size, color and placement.Sticker: Select a sticker to add sales information about the product. There are two types of stickers available: ready-to-use and editable.Currency ConversionsYou can choose to price items differently based on their geographical location, especially useful when taking advantage of psychological pricing strategies ($0.99) which would not directly translate into the same price if someone from the UK were to purchase (£0.78).Shipping OptionsBespoke shipping options can be made based on the item, weight, size and geographical delivery destination.PaymentOffers Multiple payment gateways (Paypal, Paypal one-click pay, PayU, Payssion, PayUbiz, 2Checkout, Stripe, etc)Abandoned Cart:Can automate emails to visitors who abandon cart during the purchase process, potentially offering them a discount to convince them to come back and complete the transaction. The dashboard is incredibly insightful and shows:Abandoned carts – the total number of abandoned cartsEmails sent – the total number of emails sentRecovered carts – the total number of recovered carts. Abandoned cart becomes a recovered one if a customer visits the cart again using the link provided in abandoned cart email notification he receivedRecovered orders – the total number of recovered orders. An order is considered recovered in case a customer visits his cart again using the link in abandoned cart email notification and completes his purchaseRevenue – the total revenue of recovered orders. There have been accounts where sellers have increased conversions by 30% through using the Alidropship abandoned cart featureAutomated Ordering System (One-Click)— The plugin allows you to bulk-order, and automatically transfer and send all of the order details to the AliExpress supplier with the click of one button, yes that doesn't matter if there are 3 orders or 3000, it’s still one click.AliDropship 25% DiscountWell, if you’re interested in getting a 25% discount of AliDropship, here it is: Enjoy! What is the process of creating a full website? How do I convert it to MVC or any DP structure?
Here's the normal process of creating a website :STEP ONEChoose The Best Website Building PlatformBefore you start worrying about colour schemes and domain names, you’ve got to decide what platform you’re going to build your website with. What do I mean by “platform”?Well, back in 90's, most sites were built using HTML (code), CSS and even Flash. These took a lot of time to learn and were tricky to master. That’s why most people still think creating a website from scratch is difficult or requires a lot of coding and design skills – but that’s no longer true!In 2016, content management systems (CMS) like WordPress have made creating a website accessible to everyone. To put simply, a content management system (or website building platform) is a user-friendly platform for building websites and managing your own online content, instead of using a bunch of loose HTML pages. Three Most Popular Site Building Platforms in 2016Image and data credit: OpenSourceCMS.comAs you can see from the graph above, nearly half of the websites on the Internet are running on WordPress website platform. Just look at those recent statistics made by W3 Techs and BuiltWith. Why WordPress is better than the rest?Because at this point there are no better/easier way to build a website… But more importantly; It’s totally FREE, with loads of layouts/themes to choose fromWordPress doesn’t cost a dime to download or install, and there’s a huge community who have designed beautiful themes and templates, making it easy to get going fast. You’ll never run out of uniqueness…It’s VERY beginner-friendlyIf you know how to use Microsoft Word, you already know how add your own content. WordPress can be expanded with free plugins to handle just about any site you can imagine – from gorgeous business pages to social networking sites. With “plugins” you’ll be able to add contact forms, subscription forms, image galleries and so on for your website – pretty simple, huh?Small or Big site? Doesn’t matter…From basic blogs to beautiful business sites and online stores, WordPress can handle just about any kind of website. WordPress is used by eBay, Mozilla, Reuters, CNN, Google Ventures and even NASA.Your site will mobile & tablet friendlyThe website you build will instantly be responsive, looking great on every mobile device, smartphone and tablet. No need to hire a web developer for that..There’s a HUGE support community available to helpWith so many people using the platform (Webmaster, Bloggers, Theme developers and Plugin creators), it’s easy to find QUICK help when you need it. In addition, WordPress has lots of free resources both available on Youtube and their support forum. Of course, there are other website building / CMS platforms, too.Drupal is a very powerful platform that is popular with web developers and experienced coders, but it comes with a very steep learning curve that makes it a bad choice for beginners.Joomla is similar to WordPress and works great for online stores, but you’ll need at least a little bit of technical coding to make it work the way you want.If you want more details, I’ve put together a pretty comprehensive comparison between WordPress, Joomla and Drupal. If for some reason you don’t want to build your site with WordPress, check out my Drupal, Joomla and HTML5 guides as well. They are all FREE to use. But for beginners, I strongly suggest sticking to WordPress. It’s the easiest platform I’ve ever worked with, but it’s flexible enough to suit everyone from small business owners, and freelancers to creative artists and bloggers.I absolutely love to see finished websites that my visitors have built…So don’t be afraid it to show it (if you want). I’ve answered loads of emails, so if you get stuck during set up process or just want to know my honest opinion, feel free to use my contact form.In Step 2, I’ll walk you through the process of choosing a domain name and finding a space to host your site.In Step 3, Once you have a domain name & hosting, I’ll show you how to install and customize your WordPress website. Don’t worry – I’ll walk you through the process, with lots of images as a reference.Remember; I’m here to help!STEP TWOChoosing a Domain Name and Web Host for Your WebsiteTo get a new website online, you’re going to need two things:A domain name (a web address like yoursitename.com)Hosting (a service that connects your site to the internet)The WordPress platform itself is free, but a domain name and hosting will cost you around $3 – $5 a month, but I’ll show you how to get one for free… However it costs less than a coffee, so it won’t break the bank.Owning your own domain name looks far more professional than having your site on someone else’s domain (like yourbusiness.my-free-website.com), and it’s super affordable, too.Plus, having your own hosting will also make sure your website loads quickly and won’t go down for hours at a time (pretty important for everyone who visits your pages.) Where do I get a domain name and hosting?I’ve mostly used www.Bluehost.com as a web hosting and domain registrar for myself and for my clients. They’re really affordable, have good customer service, and they’re currently throwing in a domain name for free – so it’s worth checking them out. When you get a domain name, you’ll also get a personal email account(s): you@YourSite.com – way more professional than a generic Gmail or Yahoo address.Already have a domain name and hosting? Go ahead and skip ahead to step 3, where I’ll explain how you can set up your website. What kind of domain name should I pick?As an easy starting point:If you’re making a website for your business, your domain name should match your company name. For example: YourCompanyName.comIf you’re planning to set up a website for yourself, then YourName.com can be a great option.Domain names usually end with .com, .org or .net, but in recent months, a huge amount of domain extensions (the end part of the web address, like .com) have come out, ranging from .agency to .pizza.My best advice? Avoid the weird extensions and go with .com, .net or .org unless they perfectly describe what you have to offer – and even then, see if you can find a more common name. While .com, .org and .net are commonly used and easily remembered, the domain extension craze hasn’t really gone mainstream yet – so people may not find you if you use a really different domain extension. Any additional tips for choosing my domain name? There are few things that can help you choosing your domain name:#1 Is it brandable? For example, if you make a site about poetry then best-poetry-website.net is not a good choice: poetryacademy.com or poetryfall.com is much better.#2 Is it memorable? Short, punchy and clear domain names are much easier to remember. If your domain name is too fuzzy, too long or spelled in a strange way, visitors may forget it.#2 Is it catchy? You want a name that rolls off the tongue, describes what you do and sticks head. Coming up with a cool name can be a bit tough since there are approximately 150 million active domain names in the world right now – but don’t give up.There’s one rule that always applies to domain names: If you like it, go for it. THINGS TO DO BEFORE NEXT STEP:Do some brainstorming to come up with a unique domain name that reflects your business, site or blog.Go ahead and secure yourself a domain name and web hosting through Bluehost.com (pretty simple process, but in case you get stuck, I’ve more in-depth explanation here)STEP THREESetting Up Your WordPress WebsiteOnce you’ve bought your domain name and set up your hosting, you’re well on your way!Now it’s time to get your website up and running. The first thing you’ll need to do is install WordPress to your domain. Installing WordPressThere are two possible ways to install WordPress, one MUCH easier than the other. 1. One-Click-installation for Websites like WordPress, Drupal, JoomlaAlmost every reliable and well-established hosting company has integrated 1-click-installation for WordPress, which makes getting going a snap.If you signed up with Bluehost or any other similar hosting company, you should find your “1-click-installation” in your account control panel. Here are the steps you should follow (should be similar/same on all the major web hosting companies):1. Log in to your hosting account.2. Go to your control panel.3. Look for the “WordPress” icon.4. Choose the domain where you want to install your website.5. Click the “Install Now” button and you should get access to your NEW WordPress website.Need a little more help installing WordPress? See this in-depth guide. 2. Manual install (if needed)If for some odd reason (some hosting companies don’t provide one-click-install for WordPress) you don’t have the possibility to install WordPress automatically, look this manual guide below:Installing WordPress ManuallyPssst – if they don’t have 1-click-installation, maybe you’re dealing with a bad host! Choosing a Theme/Template for your siteOnce you have successfully installed WordPress to your domain, you’ll see a very basic yet clean site:But you don’t want to look like everyone else, do you? That’s why you need a theme – a design template that tells WordPress how your website should look. See a sample version below:Here’s where it gets fun: There are thousands of awesome, professionally designed themes you can choose from and customize for a site that’s all your own. Here’s how to find a theme you like: 1. Log into your WordPress dashboardIf you’re not sure how, type in: http://yoursite.com/wp-admin (replace “yoursite” with your domain). This is what the WordPress dashboard looks like: Everything is easily labelled. If you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed, don’t sweat it – I’m going to show you where to go next. 2. Access FREE themesOnce you’re in the dashboard, you’ve got access to over 1500 free themes! Just look along the side bar for “Appearance”, then click “Themes”.If you want something more professional or elegant than what you find here, you can head over to ThemeForest.net where there’s a HUGE library of themes to pick from at varying costs. But before you do that, I really suggest you at least try spending some time browsing the free themes. Many of them are actually really professional and well made; so don’t write them off. As you can see above, installing a new theme for your website is very easy. You can search for specific keywords and/or use filters to find themes that suit your style. Finding the perfect theme can take a while, but it’s worth it.You should also look for themes that are “responsive”, as this means they will look good on any mobile device.Just punch it in as one of your keywords, and you’ll be all set! 3. Install your new themeOnce you have found a theme you like, installing it is as simple as clicking “Install” followed by “Activate”. IMPORTANT: Changing themes won’t delete your previous posts, pages and content. You can change themes as often as you want without having to worry about lose what you’ve created. How do I add content and create new pages? With your theme installed, you’re ready to start creating content. Let’s quickly run through some of the basics: Adding and editing pagesWant a “Services” page, or an “About Me” page (like I have on my menu at the top of the site?)1. Look along the sidebar in the WordPress Dashboard for “Pages” -> “Add New”.2. Once you’ve clicked, you’ll find a screen that looks a lot like what you’ve maybe seen in Microsoft Word. Add text, images and more to build the page you want, then save it when you’re done. Adding pages to the menuIf you want your new page to be linked to in your navigation bar,1. Save any changes you’ve made to the page by clicking “Update”2. Click “Appearance” -> “Menus” in the sidebar of the WordPress Dashboard3. Find the page you created and add it to the list by clicking the checkbox next to it and then “Add to Menu”. Adding and editing postsIf you have a blog on your website, “Posts” will be where you turn to next. You can use different categories to group similar posts. If you want to add a blog to your website, you can use different categories and posts. Let’s say you want to create a category named “Blog”. To do so, simply add it to your menu and start making posts. Here’s what you need to do:a. Create a new category by going to “Posts -> Categories”ORb. Create a blog post by going to “Posts -> Add New”. Once you’ve finished writing your blog post blog post is ready, you need to add the right category for it.Once you’ve created your category, simply add it to the menu, and you’re in business! Hope it helped!

Do I need to give the marketing agency access to my website?
Before we go any further I’m going to preface this post the same way I do most of the other actionable posts and back up your website. If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times, back it up! Back it up to your computer, to the cloud, to your host.Credit image: ascgroup• FTPIf you asked this question 5-10 years ago the answer would be simple: “just send me FTP.” Back in the day, FTP was all you needed, because eCommerce and CMS systems were few and far between. It is essential to have FTP access in order to access the files that exist on a web server. It doesn’t matter if it is a Windows server or a Linux server.FTP access is one of the core pieces of access you need when doing an SEO campaign. Whether it is cleaning up 404 errors or installing a sitemap, FTP is mandatory before beginning any SEO campaign.• CMS / eCommerce Admin LoginFor the majority of the SEO work that we do, it happens on the back end of a CMS. Like it or not, most CMS “work” that is done is done on the backend admin panel. Back in the day, we used to be able to do most of it via FTP or even on a local computer. These days most data is stored in the cloud, and thus we must need CMS login. For example, on this website, if you want to edit the SEO meta descriptions, the easiest way to do it is via a plugin, on the backend of WordPress. Check out how easy it is:• Database accessIn the golden age of the web, websites were “flat” and stored in files like “about.html” and such. These days most websites are more 3 dimensional and run off of a database. This includes most modern CMS and eCommerce websites such as WordPress, Magento, Drupal and even log in or sign up uses a database. There are times when a website is so large where the database is hosted on a separate server. When this is the case we do ask for access so we can do what we need to do.When you get down to the nitty-gritty and you are doing major speed optimization for a CMS such as WordPress, you need database access. Now, if you already have cPanel access you might not need it but if it is on a separate server, you will need to ask for it.• Website Hosting/ cPanelThe good thing about getting website hosting access is that most of the time that includes most of the other stuff we talk about in this article. For instance, if you get cPanel access that gives you database access, FTP and SSH (most of the time anyway.)Just be aware when you get hosting access it gives you a certain level of responsibility. You are now in control of an entire organization on the web, including their email in many cases. Having hosting access allows you to take control of many aspects of a website, including subdomains, DNS, and lots of advanced SEO reporting. You are also the person that helps a client with a lot of hosting tasks such as backups, email setup, etc. Either way, you must have cPanel or hosting access if you want to proceed with SEO.• SSHMost of the time when you get hosting access, this includes access to SSH, but not always. That is why I gave SSH its own section. Some hosts require a special key, others you can log in via default port it really depends. It is imperative that we have access to the back end of your Hosting account. This allows us to perform low-level optimizations that can help your website speed and many other things. If you have your Linux wits about you, you can do some really cool stuff with SSH access. For instance, you can use SSH to find large files on your server.• Domain nameIt really isn’t mandatory to have domain name login but there may come a time where an SEO does need this. For instance, if you need to move to host, make DNS modifications, or add things like a CDN you may need access to the domain login. It is our opinion that the customer should always have control of their domain name.In fact, even if we are doing a fully managed account we still ask that they register their own domain name. This puts all power and control in the hands of the customer. So even if we all get zapped off the face of the Earth the customer can still point the domain to another host.• Google AnalyticsIf you are lucky enough to have a client that already has Google Analytics or some form of analytics setup, consider yourself lucky. There are circumstances where it won’t be set up, such as brand new websites. It helps to walk into a situation where you can get prior month reports so you can see what a good job you are doing.Other websites use alternatives to GA such as Piwik or other programs, which are totally fine. You just want to make sure you get access. Many SEO’s find themselves constantly behind the console of Google Analytics. It is really one of those “must have” tools for any SEO.Hope this answer can help!OKportal Technology

What is the best plugin for WordPress to have a multiple choice product quiz, like, http://myaromachology.com/custom-scent/?
Hi, I'm not sure what this quiz was built with but to me it looks like a bespoke solution. This usually requires many resources and is not that easy to update (e.g. if products change). I can recommend Zuvoo if you want to create a similar product quiz. It's a technology platform you can use to create interactive product finders like the one you can see on MyAromachology. And it can be integrated into any CMS, including Wordpress of course! Here are some examples: Examples Product Finders | Zuvoo If you don't want to build it yourself, you can have the Zuvoo Team take over the set up (for free). Here you can sign up: Get your interactive Product Finder in 30 days. Hope this helps!Disclaimer: I’m the Marketing Manager at Zuvoo

How should I contact a local business to build a website for them? What are some tips and tricks to get the job?
Local businesses are a good place to start, but I wouldn't do work for a non-profit for free (speaking from experience). Yes, they work with a lot of other companies, but you will most likely be working with a committee - notorious for taking ages to get back to you and changing their minds. You need to show your best work to potential clients, so working free for a client in your niche market is your best bet. Only deal with one contact to make things easier, and have them sign a contract explaining what your pro-bono services include. This is what I did when I started. I mentioned creating the website design would be free (static and hosted on my server), but if they wished to have it built on a CMS or added to their own server, they would need to pay for my services. That way, it takes me less time to set up, and I can add it to my portfolio site quickly. I would be paid for my time for anything extra. It's like having training wheels on for your first client, as a test run for your business. Be sure to ask your pro-bono client for a testimonial once the project is complete.Once the project is complete, you'll have a great site to show potential (paying) clients, and someone who will likely refer you.Hope this helps!

What are the advantage/disadvantages of using Shopify to build an e-commerce website?
I'm answering this in the context of Shopify vs a self-hosted ecommerce platform like wordpress/woocommerce or opencart for small ecommerce businesses.AdvantagesShopify is the cheapest, easiest, and most convenient way for someone who doesn't want to deal with any code to set up a store and start selling right away. If you're non-tech, you want your own ecommerce store, you're selling standard items and outgrew a marketplace like ebay or amazon, and just starting out, go with Shopify. 1. Much better UX/UI... for the right customerShopify is very clear who its customer is and if you are the type of business that fits its customer profile you are going to love Shopify much more than any other self-hosted ecommerce platform for the better user experience.2. Much more economical at the beginning1 year subscription at the lowest tier is about $348 USD including cloud hosting and customer support. Technically, if you use open-source ecommerce alternatives, you only pay for hosting which can be as low as USD$80 per annum since the software is free, but to get up to par with Shopify stores, you probably need some professional help setting it up. This can go up to thousands of dollars.3. Really good app integrations with SaaS servicesSaaS ecommerce service companies love Shopify because they have a customer base that is familiar with paying for services monthly. That's why you'll most probably always find whatever innovative new service you need on Shopify first before anywhere else, and some of them offer very good free plans. Conversely, SaaS companies don't really like platforms like woocommerce or opencart because... the people who use them don't really pay monthly subscription. So a lot of really convenient services are not integrated on these platforms.4. End to end service integrationBlog marketing? check. Shopping cart - check. Payment gateway - check. Inventory management - check. Printing address label - check. Shipping & Courier integration - check. The workflow for Shopify is so convenient it just works with a bit of tweaking out of the box. In comparison, none of its open source peers could provide this kind of convenience without some rather extensive customization.5. Security & ReliabilityShopify is a global hosted service, meaning they have people monitoring their network 24/7 for any attacks and they can help you deal with any problems that arise. In addition, their add-ons generally have a certain standard and will not pose the risk of giving you trojans or viruses or other monkey business. Plus, you can opt for SSL or even PCI compliance to accept credit cards and store sensitive information without having to know the technical details of how it works.Open source alternatives CAN get this level of security & reliability, but not without paying a premium for managed hosting e.g. WPengine hosting for instance.6. Better loading speedShopify has the advantage of being a globally hosted solution with strong infrastructure. This means they can load the website much faster for you because they optimized their hardware and software. In comparison, third party open-source solutions need quite a bit of work to catch up to this kind of speed. The speed difference can be anywhere from milliseconds to seconds, so could be potentially quite noticeable.ProblemsThe main problem with Shopify, however, is also due to its main value proposition - shopify customers don't do any custom code, value convenience and support and they're willing to pay for it. So you get a whole ecosystem of services that spring up around this concept.1. Pay monthly for every little thingThe most popular sales add-on on Shopify is the sales motivator app. This app adds... one line to the top of your screen telling you how much more you should spend on your order before you get a discount. For this service, you pay $4.99 per month. Need social login? Pay $9.00 per month. And so on. In comparison, you would not believe the kind of rich functionality you can buy from a one-time $28 plugin on a theme marketplace for woocommerce or opencart. The monthly costs may be low but it quickly adds up as you add more functionality to your site. Pretty soon you'll be paying hundreds per month and thousands per annum, and that's when a custom platform starts to look very attractive.2. Less customizabilityShopify app store has a lot of very good functionalities, but it pales to the wealth of plugins available for platforms like woocommerce, a lot of which are free (yes there are free, bug-free and very powerful plugins, kind of like having your cake and eating it too). In addition, because Shopify only allows you to change a certain part of its functionalities, it is not as customizable as open-source solutions that can potentially allow you to change mostly anything.3. Content managementWell duh. Shopify is not a content management system and its optimized for selling products. If you want to add a lot of rich content like videos, carousels and whatnot on your site together with the stuff you want to sell, don't go with Shopify.4. Service lock-inSure you can export your orders, customers and all that other data from Shopify, but chances are you won't, because it's a lot of hassle and you lose whatever custom setup you have on your site too. But remember shopify is a hosted solution. As with all hosted solutions, your data and website is not 100% yours. If they decided to change their fee structure, come up with some unreasonable policy or to implement additional fees for close to standard features (social login anyone?) , there's not a lot you can do about it except suck it up and do what they ask. Once you're in, you're in for a long time. For this reason, I don't really encourage clients to use shopify as a short-term solution if they are planning to jump to another small business ecommerce platform like Woocommerce sometime later.
