I have never used them, but I understand that Zoho CRM and Highrise by 37Signals are both great when you are small and/or starting out.  But you eventually have to grow into something more sophisticated like Salesforce. Do NOT buy Sugar CRM. We implemented it at Trulia and painfully switched to Salesforce 6 months later. I am a believer in open source, but Sugar just didn't work half the time.  Salesforce takes a bit of time to setup upfront and requires continual customization, but it is by far the best one out there and the easiest to integrate into existing applications from online lead forms to marketing automation applications like Hubspot, Marketo and even Gmail. You can even build your own custom apps into it using the Force.com platform. If you are just starting out and/or will be small for a while, then Zoho or Highrise might be just fine, but if you are going to grow fast then you are better off getting to know Salesforce while the pace is manageable. You don't want to learn another system mid-stream while growing and you don't want to go through the pain of trying to get opportunities and activity against contacts, accounts and opportunities from one application to another. Chances are most of the activity will get lost and all you will be able to export/import is the contacts and accounts.

To enable a series of emails to be sent based on your criteria:1. you create a workflow rule on the Lead Object and set the filter criteria to match the conditions you want the rule to meet so that it can send emails.2. you create time triggers on the workflow for 1 day after lead created date, 2 days after lead created date, 28 days after lead created date, etc. After this you should have a workflow with as many time triggers as you want. 3. If you have not done so already, create your email templates in the setup menu under Administration Setup > Communicaiton Templates > Email Templates. Create as many emails that you need to send out.4. In your workflow rule, under each time trigger, add a new email task and add the first email template you would like to send. Do the same for all the remaining triggers.5.
