in this video we will set up templates used to generate invoices in links these can be used for both customers and clients and are used to general invoicing as well as invoicing for facility bookings your links administrator should be present for this training before we set up a template we need to set up our template models these are the merge fields we want to be available to add into our invoice template go to the admin module and select pause invoicing template models there are four template models we can generate data fields for customer invoice client invoice customer facility booking invoice and client facility booking invoice first select the customer invoice model you can manually add each field you wish to be available by entering the template for your description the database table the field and the format for the field or you can simply click set two links defaults for this to be pre-populated once you've added the fields or set Link's defaults click Save then repeat the process for the other three template models now that we have set up the template models we can add and edit our templates go to pause invoicing template to first add a new template select add new template select the template model you wish to use from the drop-down then click add new template give the template a description then either enter a file name for a new template to be created or choose to use the links to full template or if you've already created a template file you can use the three dots to find it once completed select ok to add the template you can add as many templates for each model as required so long as each template has a different description once you have added your templates you are able to edit them switch to edit existing template select the template model from the drop down menu use the three dots to find the template you wish to edit you can also set this template to be the default template for this model if you wish once you've selected the template click Edit template it is important to always edit templates through links and not by opening the original file the template will open as a Word document with the available fields that can be entered at the template as you would a normal word document adding in merge fields as required then click Save and close once you have completed adding and editing any invoice templates you need click close in the next video you will set up your touch screen layout for point of sale
