[Music] to access product liability navigator sign in to your lexis account click the product switcher at the top left hand side of the screen and select product liability navigator from the drop down menu to be taken to the landing page the landing page is split into four fields product type product name manufacturer and jurisdiction product type is the only required field product type refers broadly to the type of product at issue such as lawn mowers hip prosthetics ladders or antibiotics once you begin typing our word wheel will appear and provide suggestions while you are encouraged to pick one of the suggestions it is not required you may enter anything you'd like into the product type field even a boolean query the product name and manufacturer fields are completely open-ended you will not be provided suggestions but can enter anything you would like to search in those fields the jurisdiction field allows you to narrow your search to the state and or federal jurisdictions of your choice once you have entered your information run the search and you will be taken into our product overview or dashboard page the search results will provide you with an overview of the number of relevant regulations recalls and reports multi-district litigation verdicts and settlements case law and expert witnesses with experience with your product each category represented by the tiles on the dashboard as well as the corresponding tabs on top of the screen have their own unique search query optimized to that category and to the product liability space you will also notice little chips or pills with your search terms on the tile this relates to our no fail search feature each of the search fields you entered for your search go into a ranking algorithm running behind the scenes if any category would return zero results the algorithm begins dropping the lowest ranked field and re-running the search doing so until it gets results and indicating which fields were dropped clicking on any of the chips will allow you to adjust the fields as you'd like with a single click re-adding or dropping an additional field this no fail searching feature can also be turned off by the toggle at the top on the left hand side we have provided filters pertinent to your product the field of product liability and injuries at issue selecting one or more of these will apply these filters to the verdicts and settlements case law and the expert witness results on the dashboard on the bottom of the screen the all jurisdiction results provides a full nationwide view of the results in the verdicts and settlements and expert witness categories this way you can apply a jurisdiction to your search and see both the verdicts and settlements and expert witnesses for your jurisdiction as well as comparing it to results on a nationwide scale once you have a feel for your case you can drill down into any one of those categories by either clicking on the tile on the product overview page or clicking on one of the corresponding tabs above clicking any of these categories as we will do with regulations will take you to a result list just as if you were on lexis you may now apply post search filters search within your results and view any documents without leaving the product liability navigator experience while reviewing these results you may download the full result list and or any individual documents turning our attention for a moment to the expert witness category product liability navigator is providing you with a new and powerful way to find the best possible expert witnesses for your specific case by first running your search against our verdicts and settlements we are able to identify all of the expert witnesses that have experience with your specific product and how many verdicts and settlements they have actually been a part of the five experts with the greatest number of verdicts and settlements that deal with your product are listed on the dashboard page for quick and easy access while the full list is available via the expert witnesses tile or the corresponding tab at the top of the page clicking an expert's name anywhere in the product takes you straight to their context profile for deeper research at any point during your research you may print the entire product overview by clicking the download overview button if you would like to make any changes to your original search you may do so at any time by changing the information in the search bar at the top of the screen and hitting enter or selecting the red search button the product overview page will immediately update and provide you with new results with this and any searches you run you will now be armed with the information you need to make informed and actionable decisions and reduce risk doing so within minutes rather than countless hours
