hi in this video we're going to show you how to unblock attachments that Microsoft Outlook won't let you open now there's a whole list of attachments that are blocked by Outlook by default just to protect you I guess to put it in one way but sometimes you need to access these files you know because if you're let's say you're a program or something and you want like a JavaScript file or something like that then you're gonna need that email to you so one way around it is the person on the other end could change the extension to something safe lot like a txt or zip it up in a zip file so it's not gonna have that j/s extension so we're gonna show you how to unblock certain types so what we have here is we have Outlook 2016 and we have this email here which has a JavaScript file in it but when we open it up it says outlook blocked access to the following potentially unsafe attachments scripts dot j s so it's not gonna let us open it or even see it in the email so the way to get around it is to we're just gonna close out our outlook and then we're gonna go to the registry editor which already have open here so if you don't know how to get to you just click on start and type in regedit and hit enter and it'll bring you here and where you want to browse to is this key here so if you start from the top H key current user software and then you go down to Microsoft and then find office and then find your version of office depending on what versions so like this is 2016 and there's you know 2013 2010 2007 and so on so you got to find your proper one here so if you only have one version of Office you might just have one key for this you might not have multiple like we do here alright so then once you get there you got fine outlook and then under outlook there will be a security file and you need to make a new string value for this so you right-click anywhere in a blank spot new string value then you type in level one remove and the L&R have to be capitalized so this is case-sensitive so once you have it there you just double click on it to edit it and put in the file extension so in our case SJS for JavaScript and then click OK and then we have that going and then we could open up Outlook again and then we could open up this file over the email again and then you can see that the JavaScript file is now available to the view and actually we could you know we could open it or remove it or download it and that kind of thing and then you're back in business so you could do that for any kind of file you want to block us so let's say you want to do multiples like let's say you want to do batch file so you just put a semicolon in there dot dat and then another semicolon CMD whatever kind of files you want on block you don't have to make multiple keys you could just add add multiple file extensions to this and be good to go on all those so that's how you unblock a blocked file type in Microsoft Outlook thanks for watching
