Filing an FIR is a tedious process.Let me tell you a story ( based on true life events)Day 1It all started with my phone, hardly five month old Moto G5s Plus getting stolen on a Sunday night while I was walking to my home after meeting a friend.It was around 10:20 PM, I was on the side of the road and was on a call. All of a sudden my phone was snatched by a group of 3 men on a bike, a Pulsar to be specific and definitely above 150cc Engine. The incident took place at a junction so there is an immediate left turn. I ran behind them, I tried to chase them with the help of a fellow citizen on bike but that was in vain. The number plate started with KA but could not make out the rest due the light from the tial lamp.In about 5 minutes I went to the Police station hardly 200 metres from there. There was a constable on duty. I explained the whole incident to him. He just wrote down the phone details along with the time at which the incident took place, told me to file a e-lost report on the Bangalore police mobile application and instructed me to come the next morning around 9:30 AM and report it to the crime branch Sub Inspector (PSI).E-Lost ReportDay 2It was 26th Morning, I typed a letter and went to the police station met SI. He explained me that there are two ways it can go down. One with e-lost report or FIR. He explained to me that FIR is time consuming and I'll have to come to police station when call upon also there will be Lawyers involved and multiple number of visits to the court. I said father's friend is a lawyer and I told the PSI that my father's brother is a Deputy Commissioner in Kerala and that he insisted that I file an FIR. He then asked me to get a copy of phone purchase invoice. I immediately went home and took a print of it then back to police station. Around 10 PM two constables came home and told me that I forgot sign on the letter. Again went to police station and signed it. Detailed LetterDay 3The next day 27th Feb, knowing that I might get called again, went to the police station. After 5 minutes I got a call from a women constable saying "please come to station". I said I'm already at the station, asked her which room she was in. Went to her room, she asked my father's name , my occupation, age, sub caste. After that she typed the incident report in Kannada and asked me to sign it, it was all online process. She took a print out of it gave it to the crime branch PSI, he then called me. He told me take 5 xerox copy of the print out and come back ASAP. I took copies and came back. PSI told me to sign in one of the copies mentioning " Received copy of FIR". I felt like writing "I made copies of FIR". Then went home I received an SMS with the FIR number and GSC number.4. Received SMS5. FIRTo summarise it all,Met all the officials at the police station ranging from constable to Assistant CommissionerSpend a lot of time at the police station.Even though there were CCTV in nearby shops I don’t know they’ll ever check it.Filing an FIR is tedious as this when coming to theft of phone.They definitely lack personnel and technology.Go with FIR only if you have enough time to spare and be prepared to wait.E-lost report is helpful in getting you a new sim and excempting you from any misuse of the stolen device.EDIT:1Phone recovered, yeah you heard it right.On 16th July I got a call from the police station to come down to station and verify the IMEI of the phone. The phone wouldn’t switch on, I remebered that IMEI is also printed on the sim tray. I removed the sim tray, voila! the numbers match. The police tracked the phone using IMEI number ie; whenever someone else inserts a sim and makes a phone call that record is fetched. In this case the accused turned out to be a 16 year old, yeah really his mother was there to release him.The phone will be returned after due process of the law and paying a court fee(which is very less). There have been many initiatives by AAP government, which sadly other governments are not taking, to provide employment to the youth:Apart from the initial plan of backlog of 20k posts to be cleared by year-end, the Delhi government has been holding job summit as well - Delhi government to hold a large-scale job summit. After the job summit in the first two weeks of August, which gave jobs to 2000 people - 2000 people get offer letters, Delhi govt to organise 2nd job summit soon.  However a true boost to employment generation can only come from private sector, and for that there have been many tax reliefs, plus a boost to women entrepreneurs - Kejriwal assures help to women entrepreneurs. Also, VAT procedures have been simplified - VAT made trader-friendly, tax form deadline extended.10. Fight against Drugs MenaceLet's face it. Only AAP MLAs have been the ones which have been mercilessly bashed for their fight agains the drug menace that has occupied many parts of Delhi. In 2014 it was Somnath Bharti, in 2015 it is Alka Lamba. Local friends tell me that drug peddlers have fled the Malviya Nagar area, and the fight against drugs by AAP carries on. Curbing PricesI thought of writing 5 points, then thought of writing 10, now this is the 11th one. I promise this is the last as of now.When the whole country was crying over the onions, the AAP government at Delhi was the only one which was able to first provide some relief, and then substantial relief by its sincere efforts.Although the initial 250 or so government outlets for onions were inadequate, later, by getting more onions, it was able to control the price of onion below 50 - Delhi govt starts mobile vans to ease onion prices.When the onion was cheap, the AAP government had bought in bulk (I think at Rs 19/-) and later it sold at a price of 30 via its 250 outlets. The division of India into Muslim majority Pakistan and India under India independence act was applicable to BRITISH INDIA. Not to principalities.B. State of J & K was a principality where india independence act was not applicable.C. Jinnah as Governor General of Pakistan signed STANDSTILL agreement recognising independent and soveirgn state of J & K.D. Pakistan under command of Brig. Akbar Khan invaded independent & soveirgn state of J&K on 22nd Oct 1947.E. Thee separatist leadership has copied the Palestenian protests and now days we see young boys on street pelting stones on slightest instigation the latest being in support of Zakir Naik.X. The separatist leadership just like in Palestine in an effort to wean spotlight away from their insecurities and failure and incompetence has brainwashed a generation of youth on false promise of UMMAH, Independence, Etc. Which have no legal standing and no chance of achieving ever.Y. I would like any Kashmiri to explain what Zakir Naik, Salafi or WAHABI system has in common with Kashmiriyat which ihas been exploited to the hilt.Z. I was shocked to find a Police knocking my door at 3am.Yesterday (03/03/2019), I caught a local train after a very long day at work. I was worn out and really tired from the day’s work. The train was completely empty as it was originating from Andheri starting itself at 11:55pm.I was surprised to find a Mobile phone wrapped up in an ear phone wires on the seat.(Image for Representative Purpose, Source: Google)It was a high end Apple Mobile. I took it & looked for the owner in the Compartment but there was none. Few People did board the compartment but no one seemed to be looking for it. I pressed the Power button as to ascertain a clue about the owner. Phone was on but locked. I knew the original owner will definitely call as soon as they realised that they have lost their phone. But I didn’t receive any call. Finally I signNowed home at around 12:30 midnight. And fell asleep soon. At around 1 am I woke up to a call coming on the mobile which I had found. I was really tired but still I took the call to calm down the owner that it is in my safe hands. It was a girl at the other end.Girl: “Hello?”Me: “Yes, Hello.”Girl: “Listen this is my phone and I have lost it.”Me: “Yes, you are right. I found it in Train.”Girl: “Train?”Me: “Yes, Train.”Girl: “Anyways. I want my phone.”Me: “Yes Sure. Can you collect it tomorrow from my office in Andheri?”Girl: “No I want it now.”Me:” Now? See I was sleeping now when you called. I just took this call so that you can be at peace. Anyway can you come to M***?”Girl: “Can you come to Bandra?”Me: “What ? No. I am really tired and I am going to Sleep.”Girl: “Ok. Give me your Address”I gave her my address and told her to collect her Mobile from the Security guard. She agreed. She didn’t even Thanked me once. Anyway I handed over the phone to my Security and instructed him to give it to a girl named “***”. I went back to sleep. I had to explain everything to my wife who was awaken by the call.Now at Around 3 am my wife woke me up saying there is a Police constable at the Door. She was really scared. I calmed her down and went to ask the constable what’s the Matter. He said that i needed to come to Police station right now with him. I asked the Reason. He said it’s about the complaint of Mobile Theft against You. I said that she must have got it back by now from the security guard. He said yes they got the mobile back, but they are accusing me of Mobile Theft. I was shocked to the core. I agreed to accompany him. My wife also came along.This was the time I was thinking "Oh my God I can’t believe this is happening"As we signNowed Police station. I saw a lady and an older man sitting in front of a Police Inspector.Inspector asked me where I found her Mobile I said I found it in Local Train .He explained me that these people are accusing me of Mobile Theft because according to her she never took any train.I narrated the whole story to the Inspector. After hearing my side, Inspector very rudely told that girl to say sorry to me. She didn’t budge but her Father apologized to me saying that they were just paranoid how that mobile ended up in Train. I said for whatever reason it ended up in Train but you should not have harassed someone like the way they did and they should have been happy that they found their mobile phone.I turned to Inspector and told him “Sir, if you want to know the truth than go through the CCTV footage of the Train’s coach where I found this Mobile. You will get an Idea how it ended up there.” (I was travelling in that particular ladies coach where male are allowed after 11pm. It had CCTV cameras in it.)Listening to this that bloody girl got furious and started crying loudly. Something was amiss there. I don’t know the reason but she now knew she was travelling in Train that day and is Busted Now.Police Inspector thanked me for my sincerity and cooperation and thereafter I left the Police station in Peace.The girl was still crying and her father bashing her when I left. I don’t know what happened there after.I would like to Thank you all for taking your time and reading my answer. I am amazed by the reponse it's getting.I just shared my experience in simple language. I have no words to explain how much stressful the whole situation was. Just imagine police picking up a person at 3am. It was indeed a nightmare. I thought of the worst.Thank you all for interacting in the comments section. I would like to clarify few things:This incident has not to be against any gender specific person. It could have been a boy also instead of girl. Its not right to generalise that all girls are like that.It's not right to say that never to help anyone you could end up in problem. It's not true. Just one incident cannot change the whole concept.As many people has suggested that I should have handed that mobile to police or police station. I am sure that would have been the best solution but I was really tired that idea didn't cross my mind. Otherwise I could have handed over this mobile to RPF personnel right in the next section of Ladies First class. Next time I would suggest everyone to do it. We can always have faith in our police.
