this fall with the launch of iOS 11 Apple will introduce a new feature called scan and sign this will allow you to scan documents or practically anything flat to sign it mark it up and share it this new feature is available on both the iPhone and iPad with almost no difference between the two apart from a differing layout and both auto and manual buttons fitting on the iPad screen in our test iPad is a little bit harder to you since the larger device is more likely to cast a shadow on your document using the larger iPad pro however does give you the benefit of also utilizing the Apple pencil for clearer signatures and markups on more screen real estate the scan and sign feature lives in the new Notes app by first creating a new note using either the old fashioned way or through the new control center by force pressing on the notes button on a 3d touch supported iPhone or long pressing on an iPad doing this will expand the button into further options including the option to create a new note next tap the plus icon near the bottom of the screen which will also be visible while the keyboard is up this will give you a few options including scan documents tapping into it you'll see a familiar UI and a few buttons for customization first you'll see the flash button which could be used to manually enable flash when available backlight lighting isn't sufficient enough to make a quality scan next to that you'll see the filters button allowing you to change the scan from color to greyscale to black and white or photo the black-and-white option tends to split shades into either fully black or white which can lead to lost detail while grayscale will allow all shades in between and therefore not losing any detail the photo filter will literally take a photo without adjusting image while also allowing depth of field blur unlike the color filter which turns over a scan with sharper details back to the layout you'll have the option of choosing auto or manual shutter modes both modes will display green detection boxes over your document but only auto mode will give you tips like move the camera closer Auto mode will automatically scan when it thinks it has a decent skin but sometimes at least an iOS 11 beta it could take far too long in that case you can tap the shutter button yourself or switch to manual if you don't want to scan automatically after scanning in manual mode you can adjust the crop of your scan with the options of retaking the scan or keeping it auto mode on the other hand will instantly add the current scan to the rest without giving you the option of adjusting the crop while letting you know it's ready for the next scam to get the best results in both modes try holding...
