How is Bhubaneshwar for non Odia people?
Odia is one of the six classical languages of India.Naveen Babu cannot speak odia, still he is the most popular odia ever. We do not care who you are and where you from. We care about your purpose.First, use this for general navigation in bhubaneswar. It will help u find the localities. it is as simple as this. NH5 divides bhubaneswar into two parts. Old town and Patia (New town). Now, the real answer to your question. The question reminds me of my own ordeal when moving to a new place. I will answer this question presuming you are moving to Bhubaneswar from north or south of India. In addition, I will assume you are moving to Bhubaneswar for a long stay. At least for more than 90 days. I have divided the answer into seven parts. In the first 6 parts I will address the arrival, language prob, stay, food, waether and places to visit. In the last part I have provided a list of utility places (out of own experience) which you need to have an idea when you start living in bhubaneswar. This part is tricky for most of the non-odia people.1.Arrival:You may choose to arrive in Bhubaneswar by train of by flight. Some also take the bus. Bhubaneswar Airport is close to the city centre(Jana patha), less than 3 Km. You can hire a taxi or autorikshaw. The best suggestion is to book OLA or UBER.If you arrive at the train station, also called Master canteen, you need not worry about anything. You are already in the heart of the city. The best option is to walk up straight out of the station and hop into an auto rikhsaw/ or city bus. In bhubaneswar the autorikshaw are shared by co passengers, unlike in many metro cities of India. Here you will not face any problem as the train station and airport has installed sign boards and direction for commuters. Moreover, sign boards in bhubaneswer are prominent and you will not find any problem with the language if you know a little of English. Below are some examples. If you closely check these pictures, you will realize, the road and traffic system in Bhubaneswar is elaborate and well maintained.2.Speaking to Autorikshaw/Taxi/OLA/UBER overall language problem:The common language is Odia here. But you can negotiate with people in hindi/english. I have met a lot of OLA and UBER drivers who speak “ok type” hindi/english. They can take care of the customer requirements and deliver. The Auto drivers are not so versed in hindi/english. They will try their best to make you ride, particularly when it is a competitive situation. I have observed in many Indian cities that auto walas are complacent. This is not the case in Bhubaneswer.Odiya is an indo-aryan language. It has lot of words which are same in sanskrit as well. In my opinion the spoken odiya language is inclined to the northern indian languages but the odia script resembles the southern indian languages. You can find a lot of similarities in couple of days of your stay.Modern odia people staying in bhubaneswar are very humble and down to earth. You will not find any situation or political parties in odisha like MNS in maharastra. Odia people do not believe in such nasty and divisive theories. Although there are stereotypes, it is neglected once you get into the culture. Appreciate the place and the effort odia are making to make it a better place. In short, we welcome our visitors with open arms.Swindelrs in Bhubaneswar: I do accept there are some fraudulent people who just want to get away with your money. Where are not they present? They are everywhere, in every city. As someone who has considerable travelling experiences from last 12 years and across continents, I would suggest you to accept this hard fact. Few Odia autowalas are similar to their counterparts in other cities. Having said that, I propose you a simple practice. Always take auto from a auto stand. The reason is simple. There are two type of autos plying on the roads of bhubaneswar. Registered auto (Stand auto) have fixed rates and route, while unregistered autos (bula auto) do not have any fixed rate and route. Try not to take “bula autos”. Here registration implies registration with a particular auto stand not the RTO registration. Sometimes this habit does want work. But the point here is, you decrease the chances of being cheated by many fold.3. Stay:Bhubaneswar provides a good deal of hotels for a short visit. Here you will have no problem. You can find north/south/odiya cusines in their restaurant menus. If you are renting a place make sure the place has good connection of water electricity and good bathrooms. I find it little difficult when I search for good house. In the old town part4.The Food:Odisha is situated in the middle of India, towards the east. Here you will find the influence of both north indian and south indian food and recipies. We love to eat spicy tamarind type samber as well as we have roti and chapati with rice in our menus. We follow this rule: rice in the lunch, roti in the dinner. So, the common menza also follow this tradition. But you can find roti always in a good restaurant. We are vegetarians who love fish couple of times in a week. Dont be scared when an odiya claims fish to the food which is so far associated with bengalis. A major part of our food are vegetables. Here is a list of most important food preparations:Pakhala; Dalma; santula; dahi baigana; saga bhaja; badhi chura; macha jholathese are complete out of the world food.5.Weather:Weather is pleasant like any other monsoon climate region. Ratha Jatra falls in july of every month. You will find heavy rainfall during monsoon. winter are dry and cool. Through out bhubaneswar you will smell flower. I dont know remember its name. It blooms in winter night. It feels majestic to be outside in winter nights with the blooming flowers.Summer is hot and humid. It is generally advised not to go out a lot during day time. The best part of bhubaneswar is its summer winds. I have not come across any indian major city which has such windy summer evenings. It makes you forget the burnt of the day.6. Visit:Start your visit from Lingaraj Temple. Here is a list of places to visit.Dhauli, deras dam. khandagiri udayagiri, state museum, tribal art museum near crp, science park, botanical garden, IG park, forest park, nandan kanan zoo, rajarani temple, iskon temple… many more temples and places.7.Important Localities:As promised, I will pour down my experience in form of a “where to find” list.Market Building: The place to feel the heartbeat of Bhubaneswar. Its a cheap non brand garment shopping complex with good street food stalls. Its popular among women.Unit 1 market: This is the prime business and trading place for shopkeepers engaged in daily utilities. Unless you visit this place, you have not visited bhubaneswar. Once you get a new place or room, head to this market and you will find all your utilities here. This is the place to make duplicate copy of your keys, fix your pressure cooker, fix your umbrella, to fix your shoes. You never return empty handed form this place. This place also offers you a grand variety of very cheap cloths. For Movies: Keshari, Complex, Maharaja still rule Inox. Inox has improved the competition of these age old cinemas in bhubaneswar. But the good part is they are catching up with the new entrant.s-complexmaharajainoxFor Food: Saheed nagar, and Patia are good for food. In fact the whole of janpath and patia are full of good eateries. KFC pal heights and KFC Janpath. You will find Dominos pizzeria near every locality. Main land china, green chillyz, taste of china, biriyani box, food box, Tv centre mutton. For books: Master canteen has a complex of book store. you can also find book complexes in CRP square as well. If you want to have books for public service exams…you can visit old bus stand near market building. For Electronics: For electronics other than laptops and computers the one stop palce is bapuji nagar. it is the electronic base of bhubaneswar. For Breakfast: Mausi maa square, unit 6, kalpana square are the best places to have a nice road side break fast. For Vegetables and fruits: Unit 1 haata. its just backside of unit 1 market. For Fish: Although there are lot of places scattered around, unit 4 is the best place to find a variety of fish. For Pets: If you have pets you have to visit master canteen. There is a place just close to the entrance of train station where you will find all kinds of pets and their food. its a awesum shopping complex for pet lovers. For Renting a house: Bhubaneswar is primarily a city with heavy real estate sector. You can find places across bhubaneswar to stay. The rule of thumb is if you take a place close to NH5 you will be equidistant to every other place in bhubaneswar. For competitve exam prep: You can stay near the area of acharya vihar, vani vihar, saheed nagar as many of the banking coaching institutes are in these localities. This is because of the proximity to utkal university.Patia: a cluster of engineering colleges and IT companies are here. you will find the new vibe of bhubaneswar here.Saheed nagar: Once a time it had the same hustle and bustle of patia. Now it has converted it self into a place where you can watch good movies, fix your laptop and have a nice haircut. You will find service centres for all top laptop brands here. Lately it has emerged as a place for many hostels for rent. Finally, I thank you on behalf of all Bhubaneswar people on asking this question. It is not important where you come from, it is important where you are headed.

Do you feel that Bullet Trains are viable for and in a Developing economy like India?
Not just viable, but vital and crucial to India's growth story.Time is money, plain and simple.India's trucking industry is suddenly saving 30% time on road, because of the introduction of GST, which has removed check posts at state borders. Suddenly, each truck is capable of bringing the trucking company 30% more revenue for the same investment.A while ago, the same industry thanked the Vajpayee government for putting a real impetus on national highways, and gave us the modern smooth roads connecting all parts of India that we enjoy now. With tolls going automatic, trucks will save even more time.On the opposite end of the spectrum, we have the government run TNSTC buses in Tamilnadu creeping along to save fuel. A private run bus, that doesn't do this, ferries people on average around 25% faster, attracting more people to board them, and their fares are also less than the government buses, with the same level of comfort rating. For many many years, the Indian Railways have been stealing billions of hours from each of our lives, by creeping along. Average speeds haven't increased in decades. We're only now seeing some improvement in the targets set for our trains to achieve. What right does any system have to steal our time? With so many people exchanging their time for money in India, in various forms of employment, we will free up unthinkable numbers of manhours for them to work more or rest, which also improves the quality of their lives and productivity. We really have no business to expect India's large population to creep along like we did forty years ago.I am always curious to know why in a country where we love fast food, fast service, fast internet, fast computers, fast phones, and incredible impatience while driving, we still have slow trains and a fetish for "Go Slow" signs that litter our roads. What the heck does going slow have to do with anything being better? Just because we have people who don't know to drive properly, we install road humps everywhere, that slow us down even when roads are empty - for no reason at all.I do not understand this warped obsession with slowness, or this love hate relationship with speed. We should get rid of both, and embrace safe, fast travel.Fast trains will decongest our cities, by making it viable to commute longer distances on a daily basis. Fast trains can do more trips, and reduce the number of units required to carry the same people over the same distances. We cannot sustain this speed of growth and vehicular traffic on our roads or rails with the speeds of the seventies either. The highways have opened up to higher speeds, and it's made such a huge difference. Why should our Railways lag behind? If every train in India was a Bullet Train, we'd be a far more developed and productive country. Our poorest of poor people need their time more than anybody else. If there is one way to give them parity with the jet setters, it is on our trains, by increasing their speed. Please let's not deny them this much needed injection of improvement.Purely as an investment in infrastructure, that will have a five time spillover into the economy, we in India should be very happy to have Bullet Trains coming up all over the country.

What is the life equivalent of "try using a different web browser" to solve a problem?
Childhood:As a kid, if you ask your dad if a friend can sleep over and he says no, just go ask mom after that.Don’t worry — it shouldn’t lead to any problems. Go ahead and tell your friend. If your parents fight and get mad at you just tell them this was Sean’s idea.Customer Service:Much of the time — you are dealing with agents who really don’t know what they are doing. Sometimes they get defensive and don’t want to give you a refund (OR let you escalate the call). And actually — escalating the call isn’t the right move. It might lock you out of getting the resolution you want. There are two other browsers you can try:One: Just hang the phone up. Call back. And when a friendly old lady with a southern accent answers, you’ll probably get a full refund. Two: Simply filibuster and drag the call out. They are judged by how quickly they resolve calls. Sometimes they’ll just want to get it resolved and move along.“Sir, look, I really must move along here. I’m going to refund you this money. One moment…”Dating:So the obvious way that we get dates with women is……who can guess….That’s right! You in the back. “Asking women on dates” is correct. But that isn’t always easy. For a bunch of reasons.Want to know the other secret to getting lots of dates with women?Have women friends. Women know lots of women. And — it’s good to have friends of the opposite sex anyway. You have to diversify. If you are a good friend and a guy they like, they’ll usually actively keep an eye out for suitable girls for you to date. And they’ll also give you all sorts of hell if you start dating some she-demon :)

What survival tips would you suggest to a non-Mumbaikar shifting to Mumbai?
Mumbai has it’s own set of many ‘unsaid rules’ which often confuse newcomers. While it is always better to have a local friend get you acquainted to the ‘city of dreams’, a few to-do’s and not-to-do’s won’t hurt!AccommodationIf you are shifting here for a job/temporary residence, be ready to spend a good chuck of your income on rent. Space is of high value here!Prefer locations closer to metro/local train stations. You are going to use them a lot. Even if not, it never hurts to be well-connected.Preferably, don’t resort to go the broker-way. Not only can you save the brokerage charges, but a personal hunt won’t be much harder!Try and form a group from your city/place of work and rent on a shared basis. If you can’t find someone, resort to FB groups such as this or this.FoodIf you come from a place where ‘eating out’ means eating in a restaurant, you may want to change that. Hotels are costly. Even the normal ones.Smaller stalls/eateries offer a much better deal on the pocket as well as the tongue! You’ll find many Insta pages or Fb pages dedicated to value for money food outlets like this one. Exploit them!Continuing from above, given the number of small eateries, there are options, plenty of them. You want vegetarian, pure non-vegetarian, Jain or any other kind, there are always more than a few places to try out!Mumbai is famous for Vada Pav. It is good, but not as good as one may think. I’ve had many friends who ate a Vada Pav for the first time and went,“That’s…it?” Having said that, if you here, you must definitely give it a try!Matunga is a hub for delicious South Indian food. I’d totally recommend it. I am a South Indian myself :PTravelMumbai is blessed with an extensive local transport. Make the most of it. There is quite a lot of traffic (some roads are full even at 3 AM). So, it is not a good idea to use private vehicles here!If you are going to travel very frequently, get a Railway Season ticket or a BEST bus pass.Smart Cards are also handy. Also, on every station, you may see a person using his own Smart Card to issue the tickets. You can use it, it is completely legal. In fact, it is recommended as the queue tend to move faster there!Needless to say, install m-Indicator. You can access schedule, fares and updates of all modes of commute in one place.Learn to differentiate between the different compartments - First Class, Ladies, Ladies First Class, Handicapped etc. If you’re a guy, don’t even dare to enter a Ladies compartment. I have fond memories of being shooed out my few women when I was 13 and entered with my Mom.Understand the concept of fast/slow trains - fast trains travel at the same speed but stop at fewer stations, making them ‘faster’There are multiple lines of local train service - Harbour, trans-harbour, central, western line. It is advisable to keep a picture of a map of stations in your phoneWhenever boarding a train, put your mobile. wallet etc. inside your bag and sling it in front of you.If you are new, don’t try to hop on or off a moving train or lean near the door. It could be dangerous.Taxis/autos always travel by meter. There are pre-fixed fares for the same. Note that fares increase after 11:59 PM.Most taxi drivers are polite and kind. If you travel enough, you’ll definitely meet a few who have interesting anecdotes/opinions to share.ShoppingIf high-end branded clothes are not a necessity for you, Mumbai is paradise for you - there are many super-cheap places like Fashion Street, Fendi etc. which have products that are a steal!PeoplePeople are in a hurry. All the time. If you walk slowly, block their way or make them more late in any way, be prepared for an earful.Having said that, feel free to ask for directions/resolve a doubt from someone. If you are in need of help, people would definitely help.It is advisable to learn frequently used phrases in Marathi - the local language. It eases many conversations, especially with cops (just in case). Also, one should definitely learn the Marathi numbers. It is NOT the same as Hindi! If you are well-dressed, you’d most likely be approached by many young children in old, torn clothes. It can break your heart to see them - which is exactly what the intent is. You won’t really help them by giving money, as there is a big bad racket behind it all.GeneralRainy season can be messy. Make sure you carry polythene bags for important files/devices etc.If you happen to meet a bunch of guys in white dress with Gandhi topis carrying lunch boxes in trains, they are the dabbawaalas. They are an iconic aspect of the city with a super-efficient logistic service, which even made it as a case study in IIM AhmedabadStand in a queue wherever you need to. Your time is important? So is everyone else’s. You anyway won’t be spared if you cut a queue!Do not read a ‘Pickpocket Area’ warning sign and touch your wallet. This tells where your wallet/mobile is kept to an onlooker and is the prime modus operandi for many pickpocketers (holds outside Mumbai too I guessUnlike other metro counterparts, Mumbai is relatively safe for women. Dial ‘103’ in case you need to report any incident. It is a 24-hour available helpline number. All in all, living in Mumbai is a great experience. You see the bad part of it at times, but if you’ve been here long enough, you know the city has a special spirit of itself.Image Source - Google Images

How do I write Script in selenium using Java for a login module?
I am going to show you how to write tests for a login page in 3 different ways:without Page Object Modelwith Page Object Modelwith Page FactoryI will do the first one today and add the other 2 in the next few days. So, lets get started. The login page is very simple:You can find it on this demo site:Client Area - PHPTRAVELSThere are multiple tests that can be automated for the login page.I will not do all but the most important 3:login is successfullogin fails when email is incorrectlogin fails when the email is invalidFirst, lets create the test cases.—————————————————LOGIN IS SUCCESSFUL—————————————————type the correct email address in the login fieldtype the correct password address in the password fieldclick the login buttoncheck that “Hello, Alex” is displayed on the welcome pageThe test case uses 2 pages and 4 elements:login pageemail fieldpassword fieldlogin buttonwelcome pagehello elementThe locators for these elements are below.Feel free to try them in Chrome Inspector or Firebug://login page locators private By EMAIL_ID = Domain Premium: By.id("inputEmail"); private By PASSWORD_ID = Domain Premium: By.id("inputPassword"); private By LOGIN_ID = Domain Premium: By.id("login"); //welcome page locators private By HELLO_MESSAGE_ID = By.xpath("//li[@id = 'Secondary_Navbar-Account']/a[@class='dropdown-toggle']"); ——————————————————LOGIN FAILS FOR INCORRECT EMAIL——————————————————type an incorrect email address in the login fieldtype the password address in the password fieldclick the login buttoncheck that an error message is displayed about incorrect login detailsThe test case uses 1 page and 4 elements:login pageemail fieldpassword fieldlogin buttonerror messageThe locators for the first 3 fields are the same as above. The only new locator is for the error message:private By INCORRECT_LOGIN_ERROR_ID = By.xpath("//div[@class = 'alert alert-danger text-center']"); ———————————————————LOGIN FAILS FOR INVALID EMAIL———————————————————type an invalid email address in the login fieldtype the password address in the password fieldclick the login buttoncheck that an error message is displayed about the email address being invalidThe error message does not have a locator as it does not exist in the page.……………………………………………………………The code follows. The test class uses the following methods:setUp(): creates the driver objecttearDown(): closes the driver objectthe test methodsThe code should be pretty straightforward. It is complete so you can play with it by yourself.import static org.junit.Assert.*; import org.junit.After; import org.junit.Before; import org.junit.Ignore; import org.junit.Test; import http://org.openqa.selenium.By; import org.openqa.selenium.JavascriptExecutor; import org.openqa.selenium.WebDriver; import org.openqa.selenium.WebElement; import org.openqa.selenium.chrome.ChromeDriver; import org.openqa.selenium.interactions.Actions; public class LoginPageTests { private final String HOME_TITLE = "Client Area - PHPTRAVELS"; private final String HOME_URL = "Client Area - PHPTRAVELS"; private By EMAIL_ID = By.id("inputEmail"); private By PASSWORD_ID = By.id("inputPassword"); private By LOGIN_ID = By.id("login"); private By INCORRECT_LOGIN_ERROR_ID = By.xpath("//div[@class = 'alert alert-danger text-center']"); private String incorrectDetailsMessage = "Login Details Incorrect.
